If you are expecting this to be another pokemon variant, do not get this game. That's where most negative reviews come from This is a stacking game first with a light pokemon variant, not the other way around. If you like stacking games, this is a very good one in my opinion. I usually find those types boring but the fighting and Mon collection adds a very welcome layer over it that pushed the game in the positive for me. It's not amazing, some QoL would definitely be welcome especially given how many different stuff you can craft past a certain point, but overall a strong positive.

Yeah, these devs cooked. Perfect marriage of Pokemon + Stacklands. This game is a lot more satisfying and creative than I was expecting.

Great game, one of my favorite indie games this year! At least, the first half. Once you get the Essence Machine you basically have won the game. It trivializes most of the mechanics and you can insta max level every stackmon in a couple of minutes. At that point you can just crush all of the challenges real quick like checking off boxes if you want to say you finished the game. But that first half of the game was SO much fun. Highly recommend just to play the game up to the Essence Machine. Even if you stop there I still think it's worth the price.

Really great bones. Worth the money as it currently is. If you want some more polish, grab it now and wait or wishlist it and grab it later. I've played Stacklands and Witchhand. Both are fun, but I ultimately got a bit burnt out just being in the base. I think Stackmon is a fresh twist on this with how much of the game happens while exploring routes (outside the base). I do think there is quite a bit of balance and QoL that could make this better. The UI leaves something to be desired. The battling is pretty shallow, but the real strategy of this is optimizing to catch more stackmons or progress faster. The devs appear to really be trying to make updates now that the game is out. Regardless, this is an easy 10 hours of fun right now and probably a lot more later.

Amazing game, very fun I keep losing track of time while I am playing. Tip: Get the Squid he will carry you after the grass scout leader.
