Dec. 2025
After finishing the game, I can point out on things I liked and disliked: Pros: -Visually, the game is very nice, that has gives you a perfect atmosphere and feel to the game. -Gunplay feels very satisfying, and somewhat even realistic. mechanisms of weapon jams when you overshoot, different bullet types, ability to corner clear, grenades, attachments, weapon upgrades, armors, bullet range, bullet drop, bleeding and patching up after being shot, etc. -Mutants can be challenging, and not just a small inconvenience, and each mutant forces you to adapt and create your strategies to defeat them, which the more you encounter them, the easier they become for you (since you understand what to do against them). some people complain about them being bullet sponges, but I feel that it makes it more fun, and kind of "Forcing" you to have a high damage shotgun in your arsenal specifically for them. as I played Metro before, the mutants in both games have probably similar points of health. -Main quest was very confusing for me at first, since I did not play any of the other STALKER games, and I felt like the game just threw a bunch of random characters at me without having any memorable interactions with them, so I found myself later on struggling to understand whether I met them before or not. Although, after a bit, approaching closer to the mid game, I started to understand more, and characters felt more connected than in the early game. The more you progress, the more the story feels exiting, and you get more curious. -Side quests are something that we all know that makes the difference between a top notch game, and an good game. The side quests in STALKER 2 feel decent, and most of them have interesting side stories and situation solving, which I enjoyed. -Factions were somewhat unique, with different locations and settings, different leaderships and politics. -The game has a lot of choices that impact the outcome of the story and the world, which was fun. -Exploration is rewarded, if you are the type of player to look into corners, seek loot in random caves, or just scavenge anything you can find. -The shop system is really nice. Most games I feel like the shop is an optional thing, where all the items you might anyhow actually use are absurdly overpriced and never worth it, but in STALKER you have a perfect balance between item costs and money you get from missions and selling, so you are actually able to buy items like weapons, ammo, armors, and equipment you actually want. -The developers seem to care about their game even after initial release, by updating the game frequently, fixing bugs and problems, and they listen to the community. Cons: -I felt like the ending area, did not give you time to explore, and truly have your scavenging fun there, and instead, I felt like the game comms encourage you to act fast and do the exact checkpoints that are needed for the main quest. this left me with rushing through the last area, finishing the main quest really fast, feeling like I lost some opportunities. -After the game ends, there is no way to keep playing from last point, the game just ends. and it sucked a bit for me, since the last thing I wrote made me want to explore some more, especially with the newly acquired gears and weaponry, but it was just over. -The ending I got (There are multiple ending, depending on your choices) felt a bit empty and "unrewarding", although the build up was really nice. -When walking in more open fields, enemies spot you very easily from long distances even though there are so much tall grass and vegetations, that I cannot see from my POV anything for more than 10 meters, but the enemy can spot me like this from about a 100 meters. -DLC : I got this game as a gift from my girlfriend, which wanted me to get the most out of the game. She consulted me before buying it, to ask me if I think the DLC is worth the extra (kind of big difference in price) price. I read a bit more into it, and its basically offers nothing at all, except for very minor things, that you get later in the game anyways. its been quite a while since the release, and it didn't seem to be changed, which disappoints me a little, since I would have loved to support the developers by buying an extra DLC if it was even remotely worth it. -The game has some bugs, and some soft locks, which can be annoying at times, but we all know that open world games are almost impossible to have bug less (I played Skyrim release version), so I can let it slide :D Overall, I would highly recommend this game for people who like the genre, especially if you have a higher end computer to fully immerse yourself with the beautiful, stunning graphics. I'm looking forward for more updates, more real DLCs so that I'll be able to further support the developers.

Entered underground, fought mutant rats, almost got mugged by gopniks, exited underground, drank vodka to cleanse my organism, got overcharged by a local trader, almost got mugged again. After all that I got back home and played S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, it was good! Living in NYC is tough

After spending several hundred hours in this game, watching it develop and improve over time since release, I finally feel ready to give it a verdict. Stalker 2 is a deeply flawed masterpiece that will both piss you off with its bull **** and suck you into its unmatched atmosphere, which consists of hypnotic ambience and mesmerising environments. There is an experience here that you will not find anywhere else, in any game, not even in any of the community made additions to the franchise (Anomaly, Gamma etc) (and I would know, cause I've played them all extensively). It's a very strange experience where I can complain about things in this game for hours even though I truly deeply love it. It's one of the best games I've ever played. I love the story, the cosmic mystery of the zone, the madness, the fanaticism and the perverse scientism. And I love Skif. And I love that you're the only one who gets to decide Skif's path. It's your journey through the zone. It's all about how you personally understand it. I want to commend GSC for their very original artistic vision. This level of creativity is not often involved in triple A games these days. Play this with mods, follow its development. There is a bright future here.

Heartful S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 review STALKER 2 feels great but with unnecesary negative things about it that makes it questioning you - Why? Did they really test their game? They have all sorts of tools to make this game literally perfect gem, but they choosed to not do it. Game on stalker difficulty (PLAYED AT RELEASE VERSION) finished in 100 hours, on veteran difficulty (1.5 VERSION) 70 hours in with all content explored, enjoyed and tried out. 100% Achievements will be probably done in my 3rd or 4th run after some long pause. As one of my most favourite game series of all time, this was it that I really felt through my heart, it nailed the atmosphere I was hoping for, huge story uncovered but yet huge part is still unknown for me (waiting for Anomalous Dugout haha), overall it made my heart complete. I am thankful for devs for making this real and hoping for next big expansion, especially story expansion too. I recommend playing this game, but if you wanna have clean playthrough without some bugs or weird things, just wait for 1-2 years more ... My positives (+) + absolute cinema cutscenes + easter eggs and secret areas/stashes + route of different endings feels very good + continuation of previous games with multiple endings depending on your actions and decisions; tension in midgame storyline is great + game feels either serious or funny and I like it, game knows the timing + game feels really immerse and atmospheric even without perfect AI; with immersion, I am talking about using guns, hunting mutants, searching for artifacts in anomalies, huge explorability, dark areas feels scary as it should be, NPC animations, different weather conditions (those stormy and rainy days feels really good) + soundtracks, ambient music + graphics and visuals are stunning even on medium-high settings with decent PC + world terrain and whole map feels well-crafted + larger variety of anomalies; arch anomalies are amazing + main protagonist (Skif) finally talks + achievements + stealth + variety of NPC armor sets; NPC campfire guitar songs + upgraded mutants with tasty flavour + death screens for relevant causes of death + mod support My negatives (-) on game with all seriousness - optimalization is still unstable and unreliable (PLAYED AT RELEASE and 1.5 VERSION); crashes and freezes are more intense than in release state of game that I played; you still have to use FPS generator (FSR 3.1) to have 60+ fps, in other words a stable and playable game BUT it is a scam, it gives you FPS but with huge spike in your latency/ping so it feels like you are playing some online game, not a singleplayer offline game = BIG ISSUE - enemies are still spawning in small-medium radius ((PLAYED AT RELEASE and 1.5 VERSION), even in close radius where they spawn from nowhere and start shooting at you (happened multiple times); its really annoying.. just walking around, and suddenly a dog bites your cake.. just walking around, and suddenly in 80 meters in front of you, game spawns 4 soldiers (why cant they import somehow AI from old games? This is fundamental thing in these types of games, otherwise, its demotivating you to play as it could be a survival game, but no, with broken AI it feels like arcade game, and thats HUGE ISSUE to solve - placement of player stash in some bases is absurd - Duty faction just exists but nothing extra or special about it - cant go to CNPP - where are binoculars, night-vision or upgrade option for flashlight?; if there is so advanced faction as Ward, why we cant buy such equipment? - Skif isnt DAVID GOGGINS , and if we were him, he isnt drinking 20 redbulls per hour; exoskeletons should have separated endurance upgrades on their own, so you dont have to choose between endurance and other better in survivability upgrades - Arena in veteran difficulty is unplayable (its playable if you are lucky or have a will to waste your 1 hour or so for some little cash) due to buggy dogs that wiggle around and cant just move normally, I tried multiple times, but when multiple dogs are literally ,,spinning,, or ,,wiggling,, while moving, I am just gonna pass, not gonna waste an hour just for some little money from arena ... cant imagine the round with limited ammo against Chimera on veteran in this state of game LOL - if you give us broken (yellow/red) weapons from dead stalkers that we kill, why dont you give us some repair kit items? - cant drop/sell/store to stash Skifs pistol (for solution, allow us to sell that pistol or give it 0.00kg weight); other pistols may be usable depending if you really want to - but theres no point - automatic leaning to right/left side (if you are at the edge of obstacle) feels very console-like and not friendly to PC users, but frustrating - why does Ward (or Monolith) use weak SMGs like Bukets or weaker version of AKs? This is beyond being logical here - why moving stashes with important items (blueprints) to other places after an update from previous version of game? - while trading with random stalker, they just walk away from you but trading screen is still on - cant revive most friendly stalkers (yes I have medkits) - no faction wars; theres only one faction war that is somehow happening but its not dynamic, rather static .. Ward vs Spark factions through main quests - how comes that previous games didnt have any problems with optimalizations, when the world was DIVIDED by LOADING SCREENS? I think one of the main problems here is to have a large unstable and dead open-world, where of course its really complicated for technical reasons to maintain properly; I think NOONE would COMPLAIN , if stalker 2 would have many locations connected with each other with loading screen; Its okay to experiment new things, but not if its not an indie game, stalker franchise is not an indie game. - less variation of questions you can ask NPCs, theres just only 1 generic; less NPC interactions - ex-military main character and cant swim, drowns from 1 meter depth - dont loot Malachite Pass item unless you wanna get stuck with 0.5kg each whole game - during attack on Duga, my Ward comrades doesnt have helmets.. some special protection secret which I dont know about? - its sad that there is not option to travel with other stalkers to their destination (just like in CoP) - where is popular voice line ,,idi ku mne,, ? ,,idi do mna,, sounds really weird ngl - if you have sided with Ward and get to the point where main quest is in their main base, Chemical Plant, its a maze; funny when even Ward patrol is trying to get to their own base but cant find the right doors hahaha; Ward have gun merchant outside of their Chemical Plant base? - cant sell weapons or mutant parts to random NPCs - humanoid NPCs are getting stuck in each-other bodies Additional points (*) that I think would improve game * practical use of other pistols * cleaning/repair kits for guns and armor * binoculars, NIGHT-VISION and upgrade option for flashlight * FACTION WARS * anti-chemical (resist) pills * some mutant with wings, or mutated crows (with nests on tall buildings or towers) * more interaction with stalkers * COMPANIONS; special quest where stalker (or Doctor) tries to teach you through some quests on how to tame a pseudodog; you may ask, for what? for distraction * option to decline side quests in your PDA * bicycles, Warden vehicles * more possibilities to overcome some obstacles; add back laying down with ctrl+shift * an option to rebuild Zalissya for making a base more unique; good idea would be that they would implement mechanic from CoP where you get daily ammo/meds/food to your stash for your services Thank you for reading my review, some notes are my subjective thoughts, but some are just objective facts. Feel free to drop your opinion.

My main problem with this game is that Stalker 2 is too big and too empty, there's too much running around and nothing much happening. It doesnt feel like it at the beginning but later on you'll start to notice it. There arent enough stalkers wandering around, you can't travel with them to a location (like in Call of Pripyat), no binoculars ( the first thing i did when i got through prologue was look for binoculars button only to realise there arent any binoculars here), no night vision (which sucks are flashlight gives away your position and it's too dark to see anything sometimes), stealth still pretty much non-existant and so on. A bit of my opinion, if i may, they shouldn't have made this Stalker 2 fully open world but split it in locations like in 3 previous Stalkers and then fill them with content but hey, i'm no gamedev or level designer or whatever you call it, what do i know? Still, despite these issues, the game is well worth experiencing (even if it's your first Stalker) but only on Veteran difficulty as 2 other difficulties are too easy. Devs are trying to fix the game and seem to be listening to playerbase feedback, for that alone i'm recommending it. 2 Alsos: 1. The Brain Scorcher location doesnt make any sense, i get what they were trying to do but still, as a huge fan of all 3 previous parts it bugs me. 2. Who thought it was a good idea to put goddamn flash drives for upgrades and scatter them all over the zone? I get they were trying to give players incentive to go look for stalker stashes but it gets so unbelivebly tedious. I'd rather they put different tools for you had to find for different mechanics in order for them to make upgrades than those abominable flash drives from Clear Sky. Side note: My play time doens't reflect it because i first played Stalker 2 on Gamepass where i have ~270 hours.
