SOUL CONSUMPTION MACHINE, I WISH NOT TO ESCAPE THIS PRISON, I'M EXACTLY WHERE I WANT TO BE -- Edit, after I 100%-ed the game: Yes, I recommend this game to people who love lore, worldbuilding and collecting various outcomes. Every single ending in this game adds to the things we learn about the entire setting and its characters, so this has to be played as a whole for the best experience. Trust me, please. This has such a FUN worldbuild. I also recommend it to people who love all the classic otome game LI tropes. We got the tsundere, we got the yandere, we got the charmer diva, we got the stoic responsible guy, we got the IMMORTAL (always a peak one imo), we got the cynical sarcasm king. We got it all. We ALSO GOT some silly shippy dialogues between the LIs if that's what you're into (I sure am xD). I think this game nailed both the misery and the whimsy of its setting. It was great. No, I don't recommend it if you just look for romance and you don't care much about learning about the entire cast and story in a game in general. I also can't recommend it to people allergic to whimsy, if you cringe easily at characters in a dark setting being flawed, naive or attempting to make a heavy atmosphere less heavy then this isn't for you, go play smth else idfk. This is more than just that and it takes effort and time to build up knowledge and understanding of the cast via playing every ending. Frankly, I'm not even listening to anyone's opinion on X, Y and Z unless they have played the whole thing, and I advise nobody listens before they see what's going on here for themselves. Build your own appreciation (or hatred) for these pixels, don't let others dictate how to feel about them lol. I LOVE THE OST SO MUCH THO!!! Common sense advice: Do wait for discounts. + I'm sad Fin is paywalled. Boo. --- Now I shall yap as someone who loved this game TO BITS to bits to bits, I do not understand how was it possible to like it so much, given the fact that I was hella skeptical about it AND I've been having this in my library for... a long while... untouched... There's something about these characters that is just so painfully entertaining to read about, like everyone got issues, everyone has struggles, everyone got motivations and it's just... amazing and bittersweet and beautiful and impressive. I laughed, aww-ed, sobbed and got incredibly angry while reading this thing. I felt for so many characters while also feeling pure rage towards other characters *COUGHS* sachsen *COUGHS*. Characters were stupid but also smart as ♥♥♥♥, there have been moments OF PURE SATISFACTION *COUGH* THANK YOU YUNE!!!!!! *COUGH* IN SOME SCENARIOS LIKE THINGS HAPPENED JUST THE WAY I HOPED THEY WOULD, CERTAIN THINGS I NEEDED TO BE ADRESSED GOT ADRESSED LIKE!! WOW!! i love that. a lot lol. i am a fan and i have been successfully serviced. THE LORE... THE WORLDBUILD... THE ACTION ITSELF... THE POSSIBLE OUTCOMES??? I'm a massive nerd for worldbuilding and story telling in these games, this thing HAD A WORLD TO PACK. Imagine my excitement when I learned it has a sequel... POST THE GRAND ENDING ROUTE?? Oh I'm so glad it's not over for me. Dude. I want this as an anime :|. Merge some core elements from each route and then follow a more extended path for the grand ending route and I swear it doesn't even NEED to be romance focused, it will BANG either way. Am I problematic to say that I didn't actually gaf about the romance in this? I loved a few tropes I saw in it and some scenes, but otherwise I'm so turbochill about this whole thing like?? Yeah I can't even Be bothered it wasn't sappier or different or lacking in routes or whatever. No?? I'm content with this. I'm content to see these characters' writing and journeys and motivations, be them good or bad. I'm just... glad I read something so cool?? Thanks. My thoughts STRICTLY ON THE LIs: I'm a huge Yune and Ulrik fan but also Fin grew on me a lot like save my sogging anxious babygirl I cannot for the love of me NOT want to put that man in my pocket AND YEET the planet. I might as well throw the heights like a frisbee into a rouge black hole. Eltcreed is just so stupidly fun and such a reliable character like I LOVE HAVING AN ECCENTRIC DIVA I CAN TRUST LIKE THANK YOU FOR EXISTING! Adage and Ines routes, whereas not my full cup of tea they have packed the best Lore reveals ever, and I am glad I did them last because by the end of the game I could still keep yelling: HOLY WH A T ???????? ... Yeah. The grand finale route? It felt like a Reward. I can't express the experience of going thru every single ending, crying and sobbing and throwing up only to end up unlocking this satisfying jEWEL LIKE HOLY--- THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF THE OFFICERS TOGETHER WITH EVERYONE ELSE, THANK YOU LMFAO WE'VE BEEN THRU ENOUGH TIMELINES OF TORMENT ALREADY. IT'S ABOUT T I M E!!!! But uhm? Yes??? Sorry I'm just a big fan of this. In terms of my woke agenda: some topics did make me uncomfortable (especially some ♥♥♥♥ in Adage's route like omfg I was like @ writers please stfu already, I could feel the mindset bias seep thru some lines xD), but I decided this is a different medieval-ish timeline with different mindsets and I can just look away bc I can't expect them to be THAT woke and it's ok to have flaws in a cast <3. I was glad it didn't shy away from the messed up topics and portrayed these events just right and unapologetically cruel and pretty realistic like yes it's that realistically Helpless when it gets that bad. I always appreciate bluntness in writing like that. Give me the uncensored ver and I respect u forever (although this game was pretty censored imo). I also know this game store page has trigger warnings but it would've helped if they were added in the game as well, at the start screen or somewhere. But hey, that's what community is about. A 10/10 AWESOME GAME At first it is a bit boring, but the games gets better later on when the heroine was sent to the depths. MOST FAVOURITE CHARACTER (in order) Fin Euclase Seriously, a very sweet and loyal boy, and I just want to keep him by my side all day. Thankfully there is a DLC for his own route. He is working as a police officer along with the heroine, both of them are a team. I pity him so much in each and every route. The heroine was framed for something that she did done and was sent to the depths, by their rules; if one of the partner in their 2 man squad was no longer be able to work, the remaining partner, will be sent to the depths to work under the HOUNDS ; therefore, her partner, Fin was also sent to the depths to be part of the HOUNDS. The heroine is very lucky to meet a sweet boy and a mother to take care of her, then later meet Ulrik Ferrie who told her that she was offered an opportunity from Eltcreed Valetine and will be able to go to the sanctaury district, and live a much better life there. However, if she rejects his offer, she will be able to meet Adage who is a doctor in the depths, and he will also offer her a job as his assistant and then will take her in with him (depending on her reply when they meet again the second time), if he does not offer or that she rejects, she will then be under the care of Ines Heinrich Heine , the second commander of the HOUNDS, who is a kind man, and will offer her a job as his teacher and also pay her quite handsomely. Another route is that, she was not sent to the depths but Yune Sekiei interfere and offer her a job as his assistant as well, but in actual case he wanted her to kill him . Therefore, in each and every route, the heroine is a very lucky girl, living in peace, being protected by all love interests, while Fin Euclase was suffering under the training of Saschen Brandenburg , the commander of the HOUNDS. Fin was suffering alone, but he still love her very much and was very loyal to her. Ulrik Ferrie One reason why I like him is because he reminds me of Shin from Amnesia a lot, his vibe or maybe because of the way he holds his neck and the way he speaks. I enjoy his route a lot since he is not "love at first sight " for the heroine, but slowly developing feelings for her throught his route. He enjoys sweets but hates carrots.. Adage Honestly, I like him a lot as well since he is quite a kind man, and also very hot. But quite a pervert as well, one thing down about him is that he suddenly kisses the heroine without her permission, but I have no idea why the heroine did not slap him. But it was only once, unless I forgot . Saschen Brandenburg (Not a love interest) I like his face, his voice and the way he calls the heorine "komusume". (A big applause to the voice actor mostly, if it weren't for his voice, I would not have like him at all) NEUTRAL Yune Sekiei He looks like a kid and behave like one, even though he is much much older than the heroine, but i just can't really get into his route. THIS GUY SHOULD BE BEHIND BARS Eltcreed Valentine Yes, he is very kind and took the heroine under his wing, But the constant sexual harrasment on her is really unnecessary but I think the heroine is somewhat brain dead or something, hard to believe that she is a police officer, what is her reflex doing? Why not slap him or kick him in the balls? I don't hate him, but he should be behind bars. MEH Ines Heinrich Heine Weird hair WHATS THE DOWN PART OF THIS GAME ? No achievements, but at least you can track your progress and that if you have achieve all endings & CGs in the game, so I guess that helps a lot ANYTHING TO TAKE NOTE OFF? It is a little bit like ozmafia as in, the story will unreveal bit by bit after you unlock each character's route/ending, so if you finish one whole route for the first time, when you replay the whole game, there will be a small scene where you never read before on your first playthrough..
If neutral was an option I'd select that. As an otome game I wouldn't recommend. As a dystopian choices-matter story game, then I might recommend. Maybe it's just advertised as the wrong genre? Pros: The art is pretty and it feels like they put a lot into the story. Cons: The good endings aren't very good/happy, the romance isn't very romantic, most of the story consists of events going from bad to worse, with 4 bad endings to each 1 lukewarm ending, and MC is pretty annoying tbh. A pet peeve I have is that the changes to the story from the choices aren't differences to reality corresponding to MC's actions. For example, if you choose one choice a character may run in to your rescue but if you choose another choice in the same option list then that character would be across town doing something totally unrelated. I'd categorize the game more as a dystopia through different perspectives than an otome.
