Played all Three; the Sequel to This is the Best of the Lot My total play-time 23 hours Objective Review 6 of 5 must play. 5 of 5 great story great game-play. 4 of 5 great story average game-play. 3 of 5 average story great game-play. 2 of 5 give it a go if it's you're favourite genre. 1 of 5 play if you have nothing better to do, 0 of 5 play if you're a masochist. -1 of 5 avoid. Still Life score is 4 of 5. Subjective Review If not for the strangely difficult puzzles I'm sure I would've finished this one in 12 hours; some of them are extremely difficult and I needed to go back to places in order to gather objects and information I had missed; and even then, when going back to the puzzle, would find I was still missing something and had to scour the areas for more clues (make sure to keep reading the updates to your journal). This was not fun. However, the story is very good and the game mechanics (not counting the puzzles) are really very good. There is an "action" part where you must guide a robot through lasers which could be difficult for some, but I found it to be quite enjoyable. Good voice acting, graphics are okay, music is fine. It served as a sequel/prequel for me, because I finished Post Mortem, then Still Life 2, before playing this.

Satisfying point-and-click solving a murder mystery with a surprising and well written plot. Might have to look up a dumb puzzle or two. Overall this game has character if you like the genre.

I really like this game but I could not play it without dgvoodooCpl.exe it is a must if you have a more advanced PC. I spent a good 5-10 hours playing and replaying the same parts of the game just for it to crash over and over. It wasn't until I downloaded dgvoodoo that I was actually able to play. I saw someone else talking about using dgvoodoo and I didn't think it was going to help but it really did! After this, I had no more issues with the game crashing or keys not working. If it wasn't for the fact that I already knew this was a really good game I would have just given up completely. I was determined to play this game again though.

Still Life is a 2-D point & click adventure game that, while flawed, offers an experience that dedicated fans of the genre might still appreciate. Unlike the open-ended narratives of Sierra or LucasArts titles, Still Life presents a very linear story. The game gives the illusion of choice by allowing players to travel to various locations on a map, but ultimately, you’re funneled through a rigid sequence to progress the narrative. The graphics are outdated, and getting the game to run on modern systems like Windows 11 requires a 3rd party tool, which can be a hassle. The puzzles, while challenging, often feel more like roadblocks than engaging gameplay elements. These mindbenders are frustratingly difficult and do little more than delay your progress. I believe the game would have benefited from either omitting these puzzles entirely or providing an option to skip them. Adding to the frustration is a cliffhanger ending that leaves the player unsatisfied. While there is a sequel, I haven’t played it yet to see if it resolves any of these loose ends. Despite these criticisms, I still recommend Still Life to fans of point & click adventure games. The atmosphere and narrative, though linear, have enough intrigue to keep genre enthusiasts engaged—just be prepared for some rough edges along the way.

Its a shame that this game is sandwiched in between a lackluster prequel and a god awful sequel. If u play any game in this series pick this one.
