At the age of 61, I've discovered what it's like to be hopelessly addicted to running and jumping and gliding all over a scenic alpine town when I'm not actually planting and watering and petting and milking and cooking and relentlessly checking the weather report on the radio because hurricanes and blizzards are the scariest thing in this otherwise super cosy game. Yes, I'm in love with this game. I've realized that I sometimes play it with a big silly smile on my face. PS. If you're having trouble jumping and gliding up seemingly inaccessible cliffs, I'd say practice makes perfect. Don't give up. If my elderly hands can do it (using an old wired controller), so can you!

i can just imagine my 10-year-old self leaping with joy at this remake—she would've loved this. something about this game heals my inner child, i've loved harvest moon since day one and they're the very reason why farming sim games exist, so i'm very much biased idc ♡ 100/10, can't get enough!

I'll start with this game is a VAST improvement to all the Story of Season games that have been on Switch/PC (Such as Pioneers). I actually felt like I was playing an old school Harvest Moon game but with so many added improvements and QOL features that it was even better. The game hooked me instantly. The characters are very in depth and aren't stereotypes. The portrait artwork is adorable and matches the in game 3D graphics perfectly. I love all the characters, though my favorites are definitely Jules and Derek and their dynamic. There seem to be endless cutscenes and events to see. I love that in order to progress in relationships sometimes, you have to complete a 'favor'(request) for the villager. There seems to be a never ending amount of requests and stuff to do that I'm almost overwhelmed in the best way possible trying to figure out what I should do first. The farming is definitely upgraded. It's seamless and fun as can be. There's a huge variety of crops for each season that you get from various vendors, and the weekly Bazaar is a blast! I love running my own little shoppe and selling all my saved up stuff from the week in one go. The freshness system at first worried me, but I found that I've had no issues with it unlike in past games that included it. Things stay fresh for quite a while, and you're able to buy storage upgrades to keep things fresh even longer. The soundtrack is typical Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons. It's amazing and sometimes I leave it on just while I'm doing other things because it's so calming and nice to listen to. It never really gets repetitive or too noticeable that it's distracting. It's just nice, calming music that's perfect to farm to. This is the type of game I was hoping would end up being released in Story of Seasons once again. It's incredible. It's detailed. There's so much to do that I can't possibly cover everything in this little review. Do I recommend it? Yes! 100%. If you loved older Harvest Moons and the Story of Seasons games for 3ds, you WILL love Story of Seasons: Grand Bazaar. I promise you that.

I’m a HUGE Harvest Moon fan. I’ve played all the original HM titles, every Story of Seasons remake, plus games like Stardew Valley and Fields of Mistria. Since the SoS remakes started, I’ve had pretty mixed feelings. Friends of Mineral Town and A Wonderful Life were fun for the nostalgia hit, but they didn’t add much beyond that. Pioneers of Olive Town tried to push forward, but it felt messy and overloaded, like Marvelous was chasing expectations instead of making something with intention. Grand Bazaar feels different. It feels right. This game takes the heart and soul of what makes a Harvest Moon or Story of Seasons game special, learns from the issues of PoOT, and creates something truly beautiful. The VOICE ACTING adds so much personality, there are tons of QoL improvements (storage and inventory management especially is miles better), and the new mechanics feel purposeful and fun instead of just “because other farm sims have it.” The fishing is actually enjoyable, the gameplay loop is incredibly addictive, and the bazaar system is brilliant. I never played the original Grand Bazaar, so there’s zero nostalgia bias here. This is just flat-out the best SoS game I’ve played so far. The romance events are super charming (though I’m still crossing my fingers for rival marriages to return someday), and after only a few hours I can already tell I’m going to sink a ton of time into this. If you’ve been waiting for a Story of Seasons game that feels both true to its roots and fresh in the right ways, this is it. Please support it. And Marvelous, if you’re listening, Animal Parade or Tree of Tranquility remakes when?!
