No way. It's actually good this time wtf. It's been what, 9 years? Instead of being The same game but (imo) uglier or missing the tone of the original, they actually improved it. Some new stuff that I noticed (very mild spoilers depending on what you consider a spoiler): • A larger mountain & (apparently, haven't reached it) a beach area. EDIT: I believe the beach info was misinformation on reddit. • Waving to neighbors (Which means I don't have to stop and talk to everyone every all the time) • 3(?) new characters (a bachelor, a bachelorette, and a villager) • Cameos from past games • New stalls in the bazaar (and new mechanics relating to it, making Saturdays/Bazaar Days much more meaningful) • Harvest sprites exist now, with their own gameplay additions • The trophy shelf with achievements and such you can display • There's probably new recipes(?) but don't quote me on that. It's been idek, 15 years since I played the original? EDIT: Holy crap, the more I play the more I notice how much they've added. There's soooo much more dialogue, and characters are way more interesting now. The past two remakes could have really used some of this attention.

A charming revisit to a beloved classic -- STORY OF SEASONS: Grand Bazaar is a slow burn full of charisma. While I still have so much of the game left to play, I already love it and I want to review it. If you ever played the original Harvest Moon title, you will really enjoy this one. It is pretty faithful, and all the new additions serve to make it even more enjoyable. From quality of life changes to some new, welcome additions to the cast, the game is completely recognizable but with a much appreciated fresh coat of paint. Coming back to Zephyr Town feels like coming back to a familiar place, which makes me excited to play this during Autumn as it goes without saying that, as one would expect from STORY OF SEASONS , cozy vibes abound. The voice acting takes some getting used to, but it isn't unwelcome. It's very interesting for a change, actually. I think every voice actor delivered strongly. This game also heralds in the triumphant return of portraits, which add so much whimsy and personality to not only the game but every character. The new marriage candidates also add some diversity to the lineup, and I really think they are well-written characters, especially Diana. The whole setting feels alive, the bazaar is fun and gives you something to look forward to every week, and I really love the animals in this rendition. I would say, in my opinion, the animals feel the liveliest in this game than any other predecessor. Letting them out, watching them roam and play, there seems to have been a lot of detail put into the livestock this time around. Visually this game is very pretty and it's a joy to move around it, especially because of the glider mechanic. I love the fishing mechanic in this game, it isn't overly complex like some farming games. It isn't super easy either. There is a good amount of character customization, including pronouns which was surprising. The only thing about character customization that I wish would change moving forward is the character size. I wish there was an option to be a taller male, since with the character we are given by default, you are basically the shortest guy in the town and also look very young. Even though I understand the reason, giving you a blank canvas that will work for male or female players, I wish you could change the body shapes and styles eventually in a STORY OF SEASONS title. The events also are pretty lively and also frequent, although some like the honey festival don't have a specific start or end and don't have a scene or anything particularly special about them. A lot of games in the "cozy genre" are very lazily made or rest on their laurels, knowing the expectations of their audience are usually low. This game isn't lazy and has a lot of love and care put into it. TL;DR: This game is so cute and fun. It will be perfect for Autumn.

The remake is super cozy and charming, and I really love that they added voice overs. I played the Nintendo DS version as a kid, and it was one of my favorite Harvest Moon games.That said, I do wish there were a few more activities that feel different from the usual routine while waiting for saturday,I haven’t played too far yet though, so I’m hoping the game opens up with more unique things to do as I go. The soundtrack is another thing I feel a little mixed about, the current music isn’t bad at all, but I personally prefer the older one. Still, it’s not a big deal. Really hoping they remake Animal Parade, Sunshine Islands, or Tale of Two Towns next.

Initial impressions: this feels so much more polished than the last few Story of Seasons games. The controls and movement feel perfect, the graphics are very pretty, the town is charming, you can skip some of the tutorial (not all unfortunately), it all feels very solid. Barring some big surprise, this seems like an easy recommendation in the genre.
