Hello friends, Today I will review the game Strange Seed. This is a indie game with the same mechanics the game spore had years ago. The graphics are not really anything special, but the game is fun enough to play in. The game needs work though. I personally found issues with clipping parts of the body, terrain that is uneven, and some other small things. As long as the developer keeps working on it and refining it, the game could be fine. But at this point, unless you really liked the creature part of spore, i would avoid it until more bugs are fixed. The game is interesting for a indie game. As said previously, as long as the developer keeps working on it, it could turn out well. The game recreates the creature stage in the spore game. Basically, the player starts out as a small blob. By finding different animal parts, the player can increase the blob's abilities and functions. There are also special growth items that allow the player to increase the size of their blob too. There are several different areas with different animals to get parts from. A forest area, a beach area, a plains area, and even a volcano area. Each area has it's own hidden items to find and bosses to get parts from. Note that bosses do not tend to drop all their parts, so players may have to find them other places around the world. Anyways, here are my pros and cons list: PROS: - A game that lets players make their own creatures to move and play around the game's world. - Hidden skins and some side quests to do in each area. - Different environments to explore and find things. CONS: - Several clipping bugs with combination of body parts. Also some terrain clipping issues. - The graphics are not the best looking, but they work ok for what the game is. - The fact there is only one item that lets you light up dark places is bad, in my opinion. I believe the game needs more items to brighten dark places. Do I recommend this game? It can be fun, if you like messing around with different parts to make weird looking creatures. When i personally played it, I did have fun experimenting with different combinations of animal parts. Some of the parts are hard to find, such as the skins. Player may need to look high and low for some of them. There are still some bugs in it, but as long as the developer continues to work on the game, it could be better. I hope this developer does not cash out and run like some developers do. I hope this developer keeps working on their game, as i believe this game could be their masterpiece.

Simply the best spiritual successor to the Spore Creature Stage money can buy. It is an absolute blast to explore, discover, and fight with the various tools and abilities you get from incorporating parts from your adversaries. The music is a delight and is extremely reminiscent of the Spyro series. This game has a little bit for everyone. There are a good number of unique and engaging biomes to explore, some light collectathon elements between body parts, shrines, and secret facilities . Some neat boss fights that are certainly souls-inspired, although don't expect soul-crushing difficulty here. And, of course, the triceratops in the room, the creature creation process. You can find and collect various body parts by defeating varied and interesting enemies. Everything from a simple chicken to a mecha robot . You can of course, mix and match these parts, all of which have unique stats and some of them give you unique methods of attack or special abilities! You can even fuse some of these parts together to increase their stats! . Spore, eat your heart out! It also has a fun little story concerning where you and the other mutants came from, why the areas you explore are the way they are now, and where all the humans went . The areas are open, but progression is linear, which I personally prefer and the game most certainly respects your time. 100% is easily achievable in under 15 hours even if you are spending ample time lamenting the high failure chance of fusing a dragon tail with a butterfly tail . There are some bugs (ha) here and there, but the devs are actively working to correct those and invite players to join their discord server to report said bugs (and are very nice about it to boot, I might add). A phenomenal game made by a team who clearly love what they do all at an exceptional price that is well worth the money. 8.5/10.

Fun game. Rough around the edges but they seem to be patching to fix it as the issues appear. Core gameplay loop and mechanics are not complicated or intensive. I think the price is right. Recommendations to the devs, beyond fixing bugs: * Remove the failure rate from combining. Just make it possible/not possible and scale liquid consumption based on current failure rate thresholds. In its current condition, it's a pointless and potentially infinite grind mechanic in what's otherwise a fun single player experience. * Fix the drop tables for parts. I can tell that part drops are not pooled which is why it becomes "much harder" to find the final parts of creatures. Using the merchant to inform the player that you made the drop tables bad by design is not sufficient.

Its honestly just a kid friendly version of a souls game, charming but a bit short. I did make multiple abominations and proved why man should never have the tools of creation, ended the game with a lore accurate Metal Greymon. Maybe we will get a Strange Seed 2 to really flush the game out, maybe add alien species, or just explore more of our earth. Just as it ramps up to show you what it could be it ends. Replayability really depends on how much you want to challenge yourself the end is rather one directional, with minimal grind and explorations you can see every corner of this game in a afternoon.

Feels a lot like Spore Hero. You walk around, find parts that allow you to access new areas, and make a silly little guy. I hope this gets some QoL updates in the future though. Camera, controls, etc. can be a little annoying to play around.
