A delightful game where everything is enjoyable. This is especially true if you're looking for a strategy game where you don't just throw in as many soldiers as possible and hope for the best, because this game is unforgiving. You have to focus on each soldier individually, or your forces will crumble like Lego bricks, and you hear Master Yoda scream.
Been in my library and had never gotten around to it. I play Steel Division, COH, GOH, MOW, WARNO, Broken Arrow etc. and never realized I had this gem. Very good, I actually prefer to it the new Sudden Strike 5, although Sudden Strike 5 is still good. This game takes a bit to get used to, but once things, "click" it is very fun.

Until I taste the SuddenStrike5...Of course SuddenStrike4 you are deserve a 'thumb up'. 1. SS5 compressed with il2cpp that you CANNOT custom any data via UnityAssetBundlesExractor(UABE), SS4 win; 2. SS5 doesn't has any official map editor or something else, despite the official editor SS4 also doing a lousy ♥♥♥♥., SS4 win; 3. SS5 all units in SS5 looks like plastic toy, it's fully degenerate compare to SS4, 2026 graphics worse than 2017, SS4 win; 4. SS5 merely has 4 playable skirmish maps, please forgive me I shouldn't complain about RedAlert2 why so lit playable maps you has...I can't believe only 4 playable maps to a RTS game. Even if SS4 doesn't has enough variant maps at least SS4 win again; 5. Nowadays you could purchase SS4 with tiny cost at festival, but it is real pain to pay $50USD for SS5, a half completed game.
Pro's 1. Superb design. 2. Works in ultra wide screen (5120*1440) flawlessly (no lag) 3. Pacific DLC is especially worth it. Especially if you select scenari with a naval commander so that you play a naval battle using aircrafts on you carrier to destroy opponent's fleet. Con's 1. Battle of Kursk DLC is just a map in skirmish so forget about it. All other DLC's are fine if obtained at discounted rate. 2. Game philosophy : like a commando game you have units, rarely reinforcements and no production at all, so losing a few units means losing the war (risk of having no more units for the final assault is real, for instance it was impossible for me at easy settings to win in Berlin on Soviet side without cheating). Units preservation takes more time than combat, requesting heavy micro management. Even in skirmish in single player with bots you nearly die instantly. 3. Repairing units is possible but never at full capacity (50% max) 4. Selecting 10 units to cross a bridge is a nightmare, wrong directions, it is better you do it with less units. 5. Time for air force support to come is an eternity In conclusion Tons of micro management, error is not forgiven. If you like pure arcade action forget this game, if you like "hide & seek" approach you will love it (e.g. wrong position of arty units and you will lose them). Game is fun if you use a cheat engine (free cheat without need to log in or to pay, at gamecopyworld.com) when you have full ammo, full fuel and even full health, then you discover the scenario at ease and beauty of maps. As far as I am concerned I prefer COH 2 where I just protect my experienced units, I care about repair but not fuel. I am not a good player for sudden strike so I can't criticize too much, if you like this style you will love the game. I like very much (maps are great, naval battles too) it if I can cheat for land battles, otherwise no. With building bases and no ammo management it would have been perfect (no need to cheat). Sudden Strike 5 is the same with larger maps (quite beautiful BTW) and more units but you still fight at 1 versus 5 or 10 (with no unit production according to game's philosophy).
Seriously addictive! You can sink hours into just one mission within a campaign just to trying to preserve as many of your troops/tanks etc as possible! Mechanics/controls are easy enough to get on with and the graphics aren't too bad either. Well worth a buy if your into these kind of strategy games similar to AoE!! I'm no historian so I shan't comment on the accuracy of it from that perspective, but I doubt many of the battles played out how mine have!!
