The game is in a rough state. Buggy to the point people can't even finish the in-game tutorial. I was going to give it a Not Recommended. Then I found out you can makes custom rounds where your officers face off against 80 suicide bombers. 10/10

Decent so far. Very detailed and unique maps with stories on all of them. The maps are larger than you would expect. Some remind of old school Rainbow Six 3 sized maps. Plays fairly smooth though could use some Sound updates for weapons which I am sure are underway being that its still EA. Looking forward to more maps and some marketing. Played single player and the AI were responsive with some nice positions when they would cover and stack up. Breaching is interesting. I would like to see some options for booby trapped doors/tripwires to disable. With more polish, the attention to detail on this game is very good. More than most games that I've seen from a storyline/detailed map design perspective so far. So it has a lot of potential.

It will obviously get compared to ready or not but this is more in the same vein as SWAT 4 in terms of vibes, which is not a bad thing. It clearly has a smaller budget but is definitely fun for what it is!

While it's a little rough around the edges, it's got the potential to be something great and the developer seems receptive to community feedback. Firstly, I want to address the fact that people have compared this title to Ready or Not, which released into Early Access almost 4 years ago and has spent a much longer time in development. Unfortunately, VOID recently left the community divided by neglecting long term players, groups, and feedback. While the recent censorship is disheartening, they've shattered the modding community 4 times now, failed to add promised content, and began pandering to casual FPS players that simply wish to "S" tier every mission while running around with Less Than Lethal loadouts... Swat Commander is actually ahead of where Ready or Not was when it launched into Early Access. For anyone that participated in the Alpha, Beta, and Early Access Launch of Ready or Not, it was an extremely slow process met with terrible AI (suspects and Swat), graphical issues, etc. Swat Commander still has a long way to go, but I feel that they're on the right track. Some of my suggestions to make this into a fantastic realism focused Swat game (obviously, some of these might be already planned further down the road): -Eventual Mod support using Steam Workshop (please do this properly from the start and with care. Breaking modifications with each update turns modders away. Some of the best mods for RoN quicky died as the modding community got tired of fixing them. It's also extremely cumbersome on groups that manage a mod list). -Briefing Lobby / Mission Planning board (not just a small tablet) -Ability to host up to 12 players and change between Blue, Red, and Green Elements with corresponding chemlights (Swat 4 20 years ago you could at least run 2 teams). -More player customization (Police, Sheriff, name and lore department patches, or even uploadable ones) and the ability to remove items such as weapons, helmets, tools, and body armor. -Tap in to Subject Matter Experts and actually listen to them. I myself am a LEO, and there's definitely some room for improvement and accuracy. Right off the bat, we use Suppressors, not Silencers. -AI is an obvious one, and it takes years to tweak it. Currently, the Swat AI is very slow and puts themselves in dangerous positions. The Suspect AI is a little John Wick (like how RoN was in EA). -More in depth TEMS (Tactical EMS). Nothing extreme by any means, but for example, each officer should have a tourniquet (instead of an injector) that will temporarily restore mobility, but not fully treat the injury. A trauma kit could be carried by someone that contains a limited amount of packing bandages, quikclot, chest seals, splints, etc that could be used to treat certain areas of the body. If you're shot in the chest, and the TEMS member treats you, the animation for treatment applies a chest seal, and so on. This is a feature that would be an absolute gamechanger. -Controls / additions (high and low ready options, ability to tap a teammate (huge demand that doesn't exist in Swat shooters by default, yet the modding community constantly keeps adding them). -Mechanic for calling suspects out and turning them around or having them lay prone. -Firing rates of a lot of weapons need some adjusting to be more realistic and in tune with their real world counterparts. -Keep building on realistic weapons and customisation. -Ability to carry LTL weapons in the secondary slots or as a long tactical tool (also realistic). -Ability to carry C2 and the lock pick gun as an additional tool. -More breach options such as halligans and occasional enterable windows or exterior walls. -No penalization for points when using appropriate lethal force (this has always baffled me). -AI Perimeter Team (highly desired). Before making entry, we always try to ensure that cold, warm, and hot zones are established. A perimeter AI team (doesn't have to be too fancy) could simply be static and well placed AI officers that can neutralize threats or hold them at gunpoint until players can restrain them. -Sounds and voiceovers. Lead sounds like he got into the roids again. -More Mission Customisation (types of weapons carried by AI, suspect and civilian amounts, levels of aggression). -Keep creating reasonably sized and realistic missions that actually fit the theme of urban police tactical operations (not an Oil Rig)... A large map once in a while is great (preferably with the ability to run multiple elements), but shouldn't become the vast majority of maps. Even something as simple as a highway standoff would be a welcoming addition. -A realistic training centre map for COOP or PvP (could be a part of a Lobby). Would require SME's and a bit of research, but highly beneficial for groups. -Various traps, but please don't overdo this. It should be surprising, not expected on every single door... -Ballistics and effects (ensure realism of ballistics and penetration), especially with launchable and throwable items. A launched flashbang / CS gas should penetrate a window. C2 should definitely create a bit of oomf. -Incremental door opening with scroll wheel up/down. Down to pull a door towards you, up to open it slowly. -Ability to play as Opfor (having the ability to surrender or be arrested when affected by LTL) with Civilian AI. Recently played with this in Swat 4 again, and it was a blast. -Further tweaking of the scoring model (got penalised when I shot someone who pointed a gun at me). Currently, the graphics aren't bad and it runs smooth with little load time (better than RoN was 4 years ago). The UI is fairly friendly and I actually really like the customisation screen. The ability to choose multiple entry points is already leaps and bounds ahead. The map screens are nice, just need the ability to draw on them. Player loadout and customisation already came packed, with the ability to save presets! As mentioned, you have definitely created something very appealing. If people want realism, they play games like ArmA, if they want arcade shooters, they play Call of Duty. Continue to make improvements and stay focused on your core community, and this game will flourish for years to come.
