Excellent little game if you're keen on an old school dungeon crawler type game where you get to play pokemon with monsters and you have a WLW relationship for the main characters.

Sword of the Necromancer, developed and published by Grimorio of Games alongside JanduSoft, is an action RPG that combines roguelike dungeon crawling with a deeply emotional narrative. From the moment you begin, the game sets itself apart by weaving a story centered on Tama, a determined warrior who wields a cursed sword with the power to raise the dead. Her quest to resurrect her lost companion, Koko, drives the player through dark, procedurally generated dungeons filled with deadly enemies and challenging bosses. The narrative explores themes of loss, grief, and sacrifice, giving the gameplay an added layer of emotional weight that resonates beyond the typical dungeon crawler experience. The gameplay loop in Sword of the Necromancer emphasizes both combat skill and tactical decision-making. What makes this game especially intriguing is its unique mechanic that allows you to revive defeated foes as allies, turning former enemies into undead companions who fight alongside you. This resurrection system demands careful strategyβ€”players must decide which enemies to bring back and how to best utilize their abilities to survive increasingly difficult encounters. Exploration and item collection are also vital components, as upgrading weapons, armor, and summoned allies is essential for progressing through the shifting labyrinths. However, the limited inventory space can sometimes restrict player freedom, requiring thoughtful management of resources and summoned units. Visually, the game embraces a pixel-art style that pays homage to classic RPGs while offering its own distinct charm. The dungeons are crafted with attention to atmosphere, each level presenting a different environment that ranges from eerie crypts to fiery caverns. The art is complemented by fluid animations and expressive character designs that enhance immersion. The soundtrack is another strong point, featuring music that amplifies the game’s emotional and tense moments, supporting the narrative’s somber tone and the thrill of combat alike. Critically, Sword of the Necromancer has garnered a mix of praise and constructive criticism. Reviewers often highlight the innovative summoning mechanic and the heartfelt story as its strongest features. Many players appreciate the fresh take on roguelike gameplay and the way the game challenges them to think creatively about combat and survival. On the other hand, some criticisms focus on the restrictive inventory system and occasional pacing issues that can disrupt the flow. Despite these minor drawbacks, the game remains a rewarding experience, particularly for fans of action RPGs who enjoy both strategic gameplay and meaningful storytelling. In conclusion, Sword of the Necromancer stands out as a memorable and ambitious title that blends the intensity of roguelike dungeon crawling with a poignant narrative about love and loss. Its resurrection mechanic adds a unique strategic dimension that sets it apart from many other games in the genre. While there are areas where the game could be more polished, the overall experience is engaging and emotionally compelling. For players seeking a dungeon crawler with depth, character, and a fresh twist on combat, Sword of the Necromancer offers a journey well worth undertaking. Rating: 7/10

I loved the game. I bought it on sale and enjoyed all the content it offers. The gameplay is cool, and I found the mechanics of resurrecting the dead and using them like PokΓ©mon really interesting and fun πŸ˜„. The story, although a bit cringey, is also pretty cool.
