I feel highly positive about this game. The big draw is being able to play games like Hades but multiplayer with pals, and we're having a blast. However, I have some serious questions for the programmers that make me think they are not done cooking yet: 1) If we're in the middle of a run, and my PC or internet blinks for a second, the game crashes. That alone doesn't bother me, as the game is in Alpha. But WHY can't I rejoin my friends after we've been kicking butt for 30-45 minutes?! Multiplayer games had rejoining figured out all the way in the dark ages of the 1990s with Age of Empires II. Yet in Sworn, I reload the game and my friends are "On a Quest" and I cannot rejoin. 2) Let's say you're playing with friends, and one player is not as dodgy as the rest. They die. You can pay or sacrifice to bring them back in the game. This is fun, until it's not. There needs to be an option to just let a player die and either they go back to the menu or observe in ghost mode. Instead, Sworn lets you get down to 100% Curse where all players have 2 or 3 MAX hps. This gets dumb. Let players choose whether the dead friend is worth that price. Instead, Sworn won't let you proceed to the next chamber without your schleprock. 3) If you have an ult, you have an ult bar. However, when the bar is a vaghair from full, we have many times been tricked into taking damage because it looks like the ult is available. In such a vision-intense type game, that bar needs to light up a bit like Street Fighter to let players know when they can ult. Same issue for spells, but not as devastating. Imagine a blue bar changing shade slightly to lighter blue per mana charge and that would be improved. Once these issues are resolved, this game would go from just fun to A+

Safeway Select Hades. Except Safeway bought it from the same supplier so it's actually pretty good. They packaged it in a bland, voice-less, story-less box, but the game is there and it tastes delicious. SWORN does a lot of things right. It's constantly trying to be as good as the game it's emulating, and a lot of the time it succeeds. Combat feels good, weapons and spells are varied and unique, and build variety is great. Solo and co-op are both fun. There are some bugs and some things need balancing. Co-op has some scaling issues. But the game at its core is fun and addicting. It's a shame it gets written off as "knock-off Hades", but I can't blame anyone for thinking that. The developers clearly made their peace early with creating a "Hades clone with co-op". But there's clearly a ton of passion and technical ability on display here. Which makes we think they could have tried some things of their own and likely succeeded. I'm glad they made this game either way. Excited to see where it goes.

If you enjoy Hades for its gameplay or have always wanted a multiplayer version of it, look no further. Don’t hesitate to pick this game up on sale. Does it blatantly copy countless mechanics and features from Hades? Absolutely. Is it a pale imitation? Absolutely not. While it doesn’t come close to Hades in terms of art or story, there are moments of gameplay where SWORN truly outshines its inspiration.

Solid core game, good responsive inputs and overall fun combat, only lacking at the moment in content. Heavily inspired gameplay-wise by Hades. No issues with online coop with friends from the same region. You'll probably beat the all the current bosses at around 10 hours at the normal difficulty. Keep in mind that the main bosses are based on the 12 knights of the round and we only have access to 3 of the knights (1 knight per area) + 2 variations of sub-bosses per area and 1 "final" boss as of the current build so there is a lot of room for content to be added to the game. Current gameplay loop is linked to character builds and the difficulty levels. There are 4 characters each with their own 4 unique weapons and 4 unique spells, so there is room for a lot of builds/runs. For the current build, the average player would probably get about 20-25 hours of fun with the existing gameplay loop (10 hours if just playing to clear the final boss of the current build once). I'd say it's worth a buy if playing with friends, but otherwise if you're playing solo then I would wait till more content gets added.
