A nice relaxed and cozy collectathon platformer with beautiful aesthetics and nice music. Definitely way too easy for any gamer with experience, so would be great for kids since there's no violence or enemies. As an adult I just appreciated how relaxing it was to find stuff (without resorting to a map or walkthrough) while watching YouTube videos and effectively playing this in the background.

Very relaxing; a quiet and contemplative experience. It's a collectathon with an enjoyable "floaty" platforming style to it. Traversal becomes quite fun once you unlock abilities, and the controls are very responsive. I wouldn't describe any of the platforming challenges as being especially difficult. (Not a bad thing! It just feeds back into the game being a tranquil place to spend time.) Visually impressive; each of the three cities feels well put together, and there are plenty of secrets to find in each of them. The airship challenges were fun, and I would have welcomed more of them. It's a unique control scheme.

A game to feel good. Exploration and platforming is about 95% of you're doing but even after journeying through the same map 10 or 15 times to find the collectibles, it didn't really bother me because the game is simply stress-free. The different towns/maps (4, not counting the special maps) are both easy to maneuver in and filled with secret paths, shortcuts and collectibles. Every time I do another round of the map, I find stuff that I missed. The entire game is based around collecting lanterns by exploring or completing simple puzzles to progress through the game. The more lanterns you have, the more areas you unlock. You can also collect coins to buy outfits or objects to customize your base. Maps are somewhat small but the level is design is compact and vertical. There never are parts of the maps that are empty or lacking details. The fact that you can (and are encouraged) to climb buildings often means that you discover secret paths or can parkour nicely from building to building. After 1h or so of playing, you unlock the airship, letting you fly around the same maps that you were on foot earlier on. This changes the feel of the game greatly as you can't go through the same paths to explore and there are also puzzles and secrets to unlock with the airship. Graphically, the game is gorgeous. Not particularly in the technical or high-fidelity aspects but the design works extremely well all around. The towns are foggy and mysterious when you first reach them but become colorful and full of life later on. The water is really beautiful and reflects all details of the towns while the light changes depending on the time of the day. The night gives a different feel to all maps and also highlights the collectibles that you might have missed. It is somewhat disappointing that the game is so short (around 3 hours for me to finish the story ; probably 5-6 to get everything) but it fits well as a walking simulator and nothing is really urgent in the game so you can take your time :)

I'd been looking forward to this game as a special treat for when I'm down and too exhausted to really play a game, after all those reviews saying it was boring and you just walk around... Well, there was a lot more gameplay than I would have liked, but I have no regrets. First of all, this is one of the most beautiful games I've played. I wanted to take a screenshot every couple of steps. I absolutely adore the autumn vibes with mellow colours and falling leaves, the traditional Japanese architecture, the lighting during different times of the day/night cycle... Each area goes from foggy and mildly gloomy to bright and clear after you've collected enough items and gone through the platform puzzles (or collected enough money to teleport through them). Unlike other reviewers, I love exploring deserted places without any dangers. The soundtrack in the village areas was nice, relaxing and a bit cheerful. On the other hand, the hectic electronic music for the tree sanctuaries felt wildly out of place. I mean, it did reflect how stressed I got by the "trials", but I had to turn it off so I wouldn't feel worse... I've read a lot about the game's platforming being either "way too easy" or "fun" and uh thanks, I hate it. As someone who's desperately bad at platforming no matter how hard and long I try, I found some of the puzzles really mean. You can buy your way out of them, but if you do it too often you've got to grind for the money. Some of the collectathon items are also hard to reach without good dexterity, though thankfully you don't need all of them unless you want all achievements. There are frequent checkpoints with a pretty saving animation, but having no autosave is obnoxious imo. As is being teleported to the starting village after loading, and to the current region's starting point after drowning. Which, if you're anywhere near as clumsy with controls as me, you'll do a lot. You're just fine after falling from any height at all, but as soon as you touch water you're instantly gone lol. There's no map and I've got no sense of orientation, so sometimes I'd just jump into the water to get back to the starting point... Speaking of heights, there are spectacular views to be had. On narrow ledges and planks. Which triggered my vertigo something fierce. There's also a photo mode, but you can't use it while sitting on benches? And maybe it's just me, but I was put off by the long row of key commands that popped up, so I noped right out and just took regular screenshots - there's not much UI anyway. So that's quite a lot of negatives, but I still found it worth it for the aesthetic experience. Definitely one of the games I can see myself coming back to and just walking around in when I need some unwinding or cheering up. * * * If you like chill and story-driven games, check out my curator [url=https://store.steampowered.com/curator/35872486]Peaceful Adventures and Stories . This is a collecting game dressed up as a platformer. If that's what you're looking for, it's great fun. There's a story, but it feels like more of an afterthought and definitely isn't essential for gameplay. The controls are a little janky, and I definitely recommend playing with a controller over a keyboard if you wanna move slower than the speed of light. Be prepared to repeat the same challenges a bunch if you're a completionist.
