I can only very very loosely recommend this game, and with a caveat. I have some mixed feelings about this one: First of all, the visuals are STUNNING! All the environments look gorgeous, vibrant, colourful and interesting. Very much inspired by studio ghibli. All of the characters you encounter are adorable. For the most part the maps are designed decently (except a few instances where the player is made to take the LONG WAY AROUND! Even when they could have given a more convenient way to progress, just needlessly wasting the player's time). The levels were a treat to play through- they were each really gorgeous, creative and interesting, especially the last one. The artists were really thinking outside the box with the last level. Most of the mechanics worked well in the game, except at times when your character doesn't grab on to items that he should, like the hanging vines. There were only a few very easy puzzles. It won't give your brain a workout, though it would have been nice to have even just a little bit of challenge there. On the negative side there were a lot things I found disappointing, starting with the music. Most of the time the music sounded way too much like the easy listening piano music that you'd hear in your dentist's waiting room, and for me didn't add anything to the game. It felt kind of low effort, and during my playthrough I remember thinking how strange it was that they just put like basically ambient piano music there instead of something that would better suit the cute magical forest vibe of the game. I think they were trying to go for something studio ghibli inspired here as far as music, as i could recognize the resemblance. But it missed the mark in my opinion. The dialogue is extremely shallow. The conversations with the leaders of each of the maps/levels were all essentially the same ("i haven't seen you since you were little. If you're looking for him you have to go to this place. I can teach you a new skill for 5 butterflies. Good luck, dear"). There's very little substance to any of the dialogue, which reflects the situation with the story-you have no information as to whats going on or who youre looking for or why until the end of the game, when the entire story is dropped on you all at once in a cutscene/flashback. I have no reason to care for any of the characters so it didn't have the emotional impact as the devs were maybe hoping. If only the writers had been as locked in as the artists, then this game would have been so much better, but as it is now the story and dialogue feel shallow. The gameplay is repetitive as well, collect butterflies, activate the leaders in the area, learn a new skill and move on to the next area, repeat. Again, it just felt shallow overall. (Spoilers here!): near the end of the game there is a chase sequence, which would have been tense, but you dont even get to control your character, he runs away on his own. It would have been more engaging if the player had at least some control over the character at this point. Instead we get to watch a cut scene... The gorgeous visuals are doing the majority of the heavy lifting in this title, and it comes up short in almost every other aspect, which is disappointing because I had high hopes for this one and I really wanted to love it, especially because I like to support indie studios. It is a short game at just under 3 hours, and I understand that its really difficult to create an emotionally gripping story with engaging gameplay and rich dialogue in that short play time but it can be done and has been done before. I wish there was a sideway thumb because this game doesn't deserve a thumbs down but falls short of a full recommendation, so ill just very loosely recommend it, if you can look past the points I've listed above. It would, however, also be a good game for kids to play.

Such a cute, cozy and fun platforming game that progressively gets more challenging as you go, making each level interesting! Would love to see more lore and backstory as well with the upcoming 2nd game

A short, beautiful 2D platformer with dreamy atmosphere and lovely soundtrack. Sweet story, peaceful journey solving simple puzzles, no stress from anything that make you restart from checkpoints like other games. Keybinds are locked for a reason: the final chapter of the game. I almost lost my sense of right and left during it, I had to rotate screen by changing display orientation in window setting to pass through... pretty fun anyway. Yes it doesn't take long to complete so a good one for a chill evening.

If you go into this game expecting a big, challenging platformer, you’ll probably be disappointed. But if you’re open to a short, calm, beautiful experience then would feel more like drifting through a fairy tale dream than playing a “game” — then this is for you. It’s not deep or demanding, it doesn’t push your reflexes or puzzle solving skills, but it offers a rare kind of experience with a soft escape from harsher or more intense games. Difficulty to 100% - (1/5) You can perfect this in maybe 2–3 hours, enjoy this game and you'll 100% it before you realize it.

An absolutely enjoyable platformer with delightful artwork and level design, only let down by a MASSIVE difficulty spike during the final level and a plot that doesn't necessarily make sense in the final analysis. Keep in mind that you can't really be killed in the majority of this game (the worst that might happen is you go back a few seconds in the game) so the difficulty spike in the mirror world is entirely due to movement/platforming difficulty, not some big boss fight that will Dark Souls you to hell and back. So, low stress (mostly) platforming and simple puzzles with a (mostly) decent story......recommended!
