Feb. 2026
The best Oddworld game in the franchise and a great reimagining of Abe's Exoddus in my honest opinion. While Exoddus felt more like an enhanced Oddysee with similar plot beats and tweaked gameplay, Soulstorm feels like a genuine continuation of New N Tasty with a fleshed out story, interesting twists, remarkable characters, and new mechanics that'll really make you use your brain to solve puzzles and problems. New areas like Sorrow Valley and Phat Station & returning areas like Slig Barracks and Necrum Mines are are given a new breath of life. Despite the nerfed GameSpeak commands, it's neat seeing the Mudokons assist Abe just like in Munch's Oddysee. It's also the darkest Oddworld game of the bunch, with Abe racing against the clock to save his brethren while Molluck gives chase to the supernatural slave. All the pressure is on his shoulders to provide sanctuary for his followers. Despite the lack of wildlife like Paramites and Scrabs, I feel like the expanded theme of spiritual vs technological Oddysee/New N Tasty provided genuinely makes up for it, especially the theme of spiritual torture. All in all, amazing game and I can't wait for a possible sequel. Here's hoping I can see the homie Munch the Gabbit once again!

Played this on Epic when it first came out and was pretty disappointed... but they've seemingly patched all the control-issues and bugs I experienced at the time, and I've come around to consider this one of the best Oddworld games. Still miss some of the Exoddus ideas, but this adds a lot of unique value, and gets a lot of the re-envisioning of old material right as well. Oddworld artistry shines throughout. Environments and characters are gorgeous. New gameplay additions feel great. New lore is intriguing. I miss the lyrical brevity of old-school Oddworld writing -- the dialogue in the cinematics here feels clunky by comparison. Recommend playing with controller (or on Deck), and re-mapping the controls -- defaults are unconventional. Who knows if they'll make it any further in this revised quintology, but I'd love to see more.

The enhanced edition is a lot of fun, and I have barely found any bugs on my playthrough. I sincerely think this is an amazing game. I love the story, the cinematics, the graphics and visual style, the level design and the gameplay. I think the items and the crafting system is fun, I honestly don't understand why people have such a negative opinion of this game. It deserves a lot more love. It has now become one of my favorites. I really wish more people would buy the game so that the developers can make the sequel they want to make. For clarification: I played the whole game from start to finish on GOG, and I loved it so much that now I decided to buy it on Steam also.

Started as a janitor, ended up with a pouch full of soap grenades. Accidentally led 300 Mudokons into freedom… and about 50 into traps. Oops. Beautiful, weird, and full of accidental screams. Like a Pixar movie on very questionable mushrooms.

It's good. Don't let all the screaming loonies fool you. Yes it's very very unlike the original. This is NOT a remake. This is NOT an HD port. This is a REIMAGINING. A TOTAL REVAMP. IT IS NOT THE SAME GAME. QUIT WHINING THAT IT'S NOT THE SAME. I will be the first to say this game is not flawless, it's got some funky bugs every now and then and difficulty spikes that seem impossible. They're not. Use your head and you'll be fine. It's nowhere near enough to qualify this game as "bad".
