A very compact, but intriguing game. The "deciphering" part is maybe less prevalent than you might think, since there is also a fair bit of trial and error, but all in all, a valid game, sold at a very reasonable price, that probably deserves more visibility. NOTE: I had some troubles with notes not saving. I would suggest to try to complete "a run" in the same single session, because doing that should result in the notes being surely saved.

The biggest negative thing I have to say about Apothecary of Trubiz is just that the scope of the game is so small, but that's also a good thing in its way as this isn't a game that'll take a thousand hours to wrap up. I found the level of difficulty in trying to decipher what's going on to be basically right on the money and I felt like I worked through the game almost exactly how I picture the devs anticipating the average player approaching things on successive runs. I think the game does a very solid job of leading you along extremely unobtrusively, just based on what you will probably have inferred about the game's unknowns along the way. In the end it's fairly simple really, but many things are once you've figured them out!

[H1]When your patients need help and your dictionary is vibes-only[/H1] The Apothecary of Trubiz is a tiny but charming deciphering puzzle game that drops you into a quiet provincial town with nothing but an ancient grimoire, a handful of patients, and a language that absolutely refuses to cooperate. It’s short (20 to 30 minutes for a first run) but the calm, cozy ambiance makes it feel like a comfy little ritual rather than a rushed puzzle sprint. The deciphering itself is fun, especially since once you brew certain potions or decode specific words, your progress carries over even into New Game+, which makes each replay feel a bit smoother . There are 5 different endings to discover (despite the lack of an actual narrative), and the cute pixel art plus the original potion variations give the game its own quirky flavor. That said, it could really use a bit more polish. There’s no hint or help system at all, and a few hidden elements are so cryptic that after 4-5 playthroughs, I still couldn’t tell if I was missing something or if something was simply not working. But still, as someone who loves context-based deciphering puzzles, this was a delightfully rare little experience. Short but a lot of fun to figure out! Would love to see more of these "language decoding" games. (So far I'm aware of.. this and Chants of Sennaar.) One downside was that I had basically solved the whole game after the first playthrough, so going through the different endings felt more like an exercise in tedium than as a fresh follow-up challenge.
