It's a funny and unique title which was clearly made as a labor of love, that's enough for me to recommend it. Be aware that you'll probably only get one ~3 hour playthrough out of it, though, consider waiting 'til the game's on sale.

Charming grifter kid goes on well-intended petty offence spree in 90s technicolor America Like rewatching old cartoons, the game feels comforting yet shallow. There is a lot to love here: The characters, the dialogues, the aesthetic, the music. If only there was more to do than lots of pickpocketing and the rare scripted con.

I thoroughly enjoyed the dialogue and vibe of this game from start to finish! While it didn't really matter which dialogue option you chose throughout the game, each interaction was still unique and rewarding. Between the peculiar cast characters and the protagonist's sass, the game is upbeat and humorous. The control scheme is a little odd, but easy to get the hang of after awhile. My only real con is that the pickpocket "mini-game" does get a little repetitive after awhile, but halfway through my playthrough I found an option in the settings menu to auto pickpocket, which bypassed the tedious mini game. Otherwise the gameplay is pretty chill and enjoyable. Not to mention that the game looks brilliant! It definitely leans into the 90s aesthetic, but they do it in a way that doesn't feel tacky. The funky backgrounds and music keep with the light hearted feel of the game and make it an overall very enjoyable experience.

A fun little adventure, that has a charming style and throws you back into the 90s, through the music and references. The art style was certainly the biggest reason why I decided to pick this up, and if you feel attracted to it as well, I imagine you'll have a good time with this. I do think that it's important to have the right mindset, before going into this game. The gameplay loop is simple, and does start to feel repetitive towards the end. But I think it manages to end just about when you want it to, which is something many games struggle to do. I played this game in one session, and it managed to keep my attention for, the around, 5 hours, through its charm, fun characters and laid back story. To mention some of my criticisms, I think the music is a bit too samey and doesn't quite manage to evoke the feeling of nostalgia, that it could have achieved. I also think that the controls can be a bit wonky at times. There were several moments, where I couldn't immediatedly walk to the desired location. It wasn't a big deal, and would only take a few seconds to fix, but it's definitely something that stood out to me. But I think this is where the expectations come in. If you want a short and sweet story, that will entertain you for a session or two, it manages to do that. But it's not something that I'll necessarily be looking back on fondly, a year from now. And it doesn't need to be.
