Installed game. "I'll try it for 20 minutes." 2 hours later: 📈 Empire growing 📈 Profits growing 📈 Paranoia growing 📉 Sleep schedule I have no idea what happened. One minute I was learning the controls, the next I was acting like a discount crime boss with a business degree from YouTube. The game is already packed with content, the management systems are addictive, and every time you achieve something your brain immediately goes: "Cool. Now make it bigger." Then bigger. Then bigger. Then suddenly you're planning expansion strategies while making a cup of tea. The scariest part is how much potential this game still has. If the devs keep updating it, I'm going to need to explain to my family why I've disappeared for six months. 10/10. Would accidentally become a criminal mastermind again. 💀🤝💰🚓
The game is fun. Management, Production, Tycoon elements, RPG progression, open sandbox. I am a fan of schedule one, and this is kind of the game I wish it was. it feels like you have agency over yourself in semi real world. FYI: I edited money in a couple play throughs to test systems and gear. The game can be played in a number of very different ways. My first play I did the club owner, and just managing the club is a game in itself, I spent the most time here. Progression feels slow and deliberate until things start rolling, at which point the crime game begins to open up. Started taking over rival businesses, upgrading weapons, killing ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in drive-bys etc. I also did a drug production run, felt a lot like schedule one. Street dealing is fun. All the minigames are dopamine sinks, but not particularly innovative; that's fine. Least amount of play was as a thief. Pick pocketing does not seem worth while and car theft is a pain trying to find available cars. It does not function at ultra wide resolution, but the devs are aware. In fact, the devs are very responsive and pretty cool. Suggestions to Devs: I would like to see more customization variety in pretty much everything. Adjusting the camera while driving would be nice. A vehicle with high occupancy and trunk. A minigame that would be absolute crack to me would be document checking, but more in depth than the club job. I would like something akin to "not tonight" or "papers, please". Changing restrictions on IDs would keep things fresh. Allow the game to be played at your club by you, or give stats to security to auto check. Sell drugs at the door. Turn in criminals to the police for favor with police and disfavor with rival families. PLEASE DO THIS IT IS ALREADY A POPULAR NICHE GENRE
As always, TL;DR at the bottom. Game is in EA so expect quirks. I've seen this game pop up a few times and eventually decided to give it a try. For the "old uns" among you, it's reminiscent of Gangsters: Organized Crime, and Gangsters 2, with a splash of GTA (the original). All of which I thoroughly enjoyed playing, so this felt quite natural. I picked it up just before the recent update (the 12th I think the update was) and it's quite enjoyable. It is quite centered around owning your own club but has splashes of other illegal activities, mostly the sale of narcotics but also touches lightly on protection/extortion. The "loop" is quite enjoyable and, apart from the extortionate costs of items, it has legs. Its taken me just over 20 hours to unlock all the features in "the vault". I haven't "completed" the game yet (yes i know I overuse "" but deal with it) as I've not wiped out the other criminal element in the game. But I feel I've enough hours in to be able to offer my 2 cents. The mechanics can be confusing as it's mostly point n click until driving, which is more of a top down view, but it works for the game. The camera angles whilst driving can be awkward as buildings can block your view. The management aspects are quite detailed, and I only wish there were a simpler way to automate it all (like topping up fluids for the warehouse, tipping staff so they stay happy) but tbh it's not essential as driving between sites gives you something to do rather than control everything from 1 central point. With regards to the driving, it is a little funky. The vehicles will drive the same speed forward as backwards, and with the same ferocity. Which has cost me a lot in repair bills. The driving is simplistic enough and enjoyable, the city size is also fairly decent. The mini game jobs you do at the start are also quite enjoyable and not too tedious, with the hotdog stand being the only one that can feel a bit much after a while, but thats probably just me. Visually it's really nice looking, it has a fair amount to do to keep you going, and I find it well designed. Would i recommend getting it now, yes. It does have quirks and bugs as its still EA but it's polished enough that nothing I've encountered has stopped me from playing and enjoying the game. Will I continue playing it, yes but not as much as I have been until some more is released. I have everything unlocked with the exception of certain narcotics and their recipes, as well as the last warehouse upgrade. The only thing that provides me is an ability to increase my daily income. I got it whilst it was still on discount but I feel it's worth the full price in it's current state (providing additional content is released later on). If you don't cheese it (which it seems the devs have thankfully patched out) then it will take some time to make serious money, but I find that enjoyable, I'd like additional ways to earn income but it shouldn't make it too easy to be able to get everything too early, otherwise that ruins the longevity imo. There are properties you can rent or buy, but personally there doesn't seem a need to. I rent the cheapest motel room and thats it, no real need for a house as of yet. If you read this far, thank you and have a great day, it's a bit of an essay XD TL;DR Pros: Graphically good Music is good Loop is decent in length Similar to OG GTA and Gangsters (1 & 2) Decent enough content at the moment to last a while Minimal bugs Mini game starter jobs are good Management element is good Cons: Camera angle for driving can be problematic Would prefer wider array of jobs to do when starting Would prefer more criminal activities Cars go as fast forward as they do in reverse If you like crime games this one is worth the time and money in its current state in my opinion.
Yes its a very polished looking game, playes smooth works on SteamDeck as well. I do feel like its more of a strip club simulator then a gangster? What bothers me the most is that you cant have your goods do stuff unless the boss character is doing it. Well you can pay for things like drive by and beat someone up and so on, but you cant just grab the goons you recruited and go take care of business with out the boss. I mean what boss goes out to buy the liquor or sell drugs? Thats what you got goons for. So hopefully that could get fixed , maybe by letting your captain lead, but as of now, not even the captain can lead. Only the boss. Ill recomend it and be hopefully for this to be fixed one day
Currently there is about 8-10 hours of gameplay in this early access. The game has bones of a really good game. There are some bugs that can erase progress or items but the devs are pretty quick to fix those if you report it. Some things I would like to see would be: - More club layouts - More sandbox activities - Allow other family members to drive cars so they dont have to run across the city when multiple business get attacked.
