Ive played a lot of RPG maker games and this one was def a gem, but is slightly different than other popular ones like IB or the witches house. The case book of arne is more so a visual novel with some small minigame segments so if you dislike lots of reading instead of exploring, this isnt for you. 10/10 mystery 10/10 vampire

It is a delightful game that almost plays like a show(with the intro and recap and such). I do hope the developers will continue expanding on the story as I would like to find out more about their backstories and these hearts. The game focuses on the death of the girl's father and who the killer is while adding some hints of darker things that went on. There are three episodes that are split into 'cases' that you can select from at the start. The music is very enjoyable and catchy and I did enjoy the humour that went along with this. The personality of the characters work very well, especially the dynamic between Lynn and Arne. It does not feel like the characters have to compromise, they are who they are. The art is visually appealing and clean and there is a lot of expression with their pixel forms too. The little extras were not expected but very much appreciated. It felt like the developers were experimenting with the limits of RPG Maker by adding all sorts of minigames to keep it entertaining and refreshing. I also appreciated that it does not matter if you make a mistake as you can still play through the story but you are rewarded if you make no mistakes with some extra goodies. In regards to an issue I had... It was the character movement being a bit slippery? Fortunately the game is not difficult and is very kind to you although, there are times you will have to be a little precise with your movements. I think it was made with the minigames in mind in terms of the movement(just a guess). It is not really a problem however you will come to notice it. I think the movement speed is great but it comes at a cost of control, just a little bit. You will know what I mean when you play it. You can live with it though! For the price of the game, I think it is certainly worth it. For some, this game may be considered short but I think the length of it is quite appropriate for it. It honestly felt like a passion project as a lot of energy and care went into making this game. I really enjoyed it and would happily buy the next case if it were to come out. (It is hinted at the end of the game.) It felt like I was watching an anime episode. Keep that energy! Please continue with this and thank you~ It was a fun experience. ^-^/) (Also Lord Arne's smooth line delivery with the cg about his heart was really cool. Not spoiling~)

Fun game that has a nice edge and doesn't take itself too seriously. A short enough romp. I need case 2 translated immediately please.

I bought and played this game (roughly $12 bundling the base game + DLC) in preparation for the anime, currently airing at the time of writing. In relation to the anime, the entirety of this "Case 1" is adapted in episodes 2-5, with seemingly all other episodes being anime-original. Sadly, it seems that the Interlude DLC was glossed over. The game itself was a fun little murder mystery. Classic set-up: a murder among the family and staff at a noble mansion. And here, the detective that steals the show is a vampire. And the heiress who hired him is a vampire-fanatic. The story was fairly satisfying, funny, and left opened-ended plotlines for further installments, which eventually may or may not include what is currently airing in the anime. I didn't find the gameplay perfect... it's one of those games that has no achievements, and you can't screenshot purely by your hotkey. Other than linearly playing through the story, which isn't punishing at all, the only extra content you can really explore is to play through different deduction & mini-game segments with Lynn PERFECTLY to unlock a couple of extra non-sense fluff scenes after the credits. So don't be like me and actually make good use of the different save slots for that reason. And this is a small game, an actual RPG Maker title that I am playing on a potato computer, but I find it lagging too much for the climatic fight - something I didn't think possible in this engine. That all being said, it's a cute, cheap RPG Maker title with a mystery that kept me guessing, and it got picked up for other mediums, so I'll be keeping a close eye on the franchise from now on.

The overworld, the controls, and the mini games are very much RPG Maker. However, that does little to dampen the lovely character art and the deeply intriguing story! So much fun, I played it in one sitting! Looking forward to seeing if the anime can do it justice!
