It is a very nice action RPG game in the style of Diablo or Baldur's Gate 2. But it does not take itself as seriously as other titles. Its' hallmark is light-hearted humour and pop culture references throughout the game. The dialogues between the ghost woman and Van Helsing are enjoyable. The music score is very good, I enjoy the chill atmospheric soundtrack a lot. I think you buy the soundtrack with game as well, so you actually own the mp3s and can listen to them in your car or anywhere else. The voice acting is fitting and good. Overall I am enjoying this game way more than Van Helsing 1. I recommend playing on "casual" difficulty. It has as optional multiplayer mode so you can play with a friend. Rating: 5/5 imaginary stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A little fun detail: Around (real life, system time) Christmas the game becomes Christmas-themed, with corresponding dialogues, carols, trees etc..

This is a neutral review I enjoyed Van Helsing 2 slightly better then its predecessor. The story is more dynamic and flows better, you have a feeling of urgency. It's a parallel dimension steam punk world, and this time they put a stronger emphasis on the tactical aspect of the war between the dystopian scientific oligarchy and the resistance movement. So expect a lot of "tower/base defense" minigames and "conquer the map" tactical missions. The graphics is average, the soundtrack and dialogues are ok However, Van Helsing 2 has things that leave much to be desired. The combat mechanic is far from being perfectly balanced and polished. Veterans of this game recommend in the forums to import the charachter from Van Helsing 1, in order to start at level 30 and have an easier time. That fact alone tells you how challenging this game is. There are many enemies that 1-shot you all the time. You get constantly surrounded by clusters of enemies, and that often means defeat and re-spawning. Especially because the game has a problem when there are many enemies around you, the game doesn't offer enough precision to click where you want to go or who you want to target. It often happened that I wanted to click to the terrain to escape from there, but instead the game registers that I clicked on the enemies. There is no space in the sceen to click on the terrain so the character remains blocked surrounded by enemies and gets overwhelmed. The same problem is in Van Helsing 1. So there were many frustrating moments to be honest, but I managed in the end to beat the game while playing on Hard for some parts and on Normal for other parts. (You can change difficulty any time). The game requires the players to allocate skill points precisely, or else.....Also combat is dependent on the gear you find of course, and that is based on luck. Crafting is very important and essential to improve the gear. The skill tree is enormous, but the reality is that you can chose only a few skills because it is recommended to level up a few skills to the max (10/10) instead of choosing a lot of them and leveling them poorly. All this downsides are the same that I described in the Van Helsing review 1 and nothing changed. Also there are some bugs, it happened to me to be stuck in the terrain a few times. The solution was to teleport back to the base or to restart the game. To conclude, this is a decent hack and slash RPG,I had a good amount of entertainment, but I didn't like some parts of the gameplay mechanic.

Good continuation of Part 1 thus-far, I will see how it goes as I get more into the game. The play style is like a better version of Diablo 3 & 4. This is part 2 of 3 and the game art is kinda gothic horror steam punk. The mythos follow more European legends and lore than Mesopotamian mythos and lore. Expect more things along the lines of vampires and other similar monsters. Characters from the first transfer to the second game and parts of your progress from number two will transfer to number three.
