there's some 4th wall breaking lines that allude to how hard developing the game has been and I really hope the process was rewarding enough for the devs to continue making these games because.... I WANT MORE game exudes charm the vibes and the story could carry the game on their own flawless voice acing and character design i usually like harder puzzles but they were hard enough to keep my interest mechanically

I can't believe 2 mermaid themed investigation/detective/mystery games (This game and PARANORMASIGHT: The Mermaid's Curse) came out this year and they both are amazing. This game is really special, and you can clearly see that by the effort and the passion these developers have put into it. The story, the mystery, the characters, the voice over (yes, everything, and I mean everything is voiced), the music, the art style and the art itself, all of it is top notch. I'll say that while Tangle Tower is also really good, I've enjoyed this title a lot more, probably because of the theme and where the story went. The gameplay is fairly simple, you explore certain locations, find clues and items, talk to the characters and solve puzzles, but the things I listed in the upper paragraph really make the whole experience unforgettable. The story is really well written, I was really invested in the mystery from the beginning until the end and the payoff was spectacular. Alongside the story, the characters are also really well written, every single one of them has their own unique characteristic and motive, on top of this, the voice acting of these characters are so good and they enhance the experience a lot. On the art department, it oozes with style. The background art and the atmosphere it creates are especially amazing. The items/clues we find are really well made. The soundtrack is awesome and like most of the things in this game, it also enhances the experience a lot. I would really recommend this game without a doubt. Amazing game, amazing developers. I hope they continue making games in this series or at the least, making games overall since they are also the developers of Crow Country which is a fantastic survival horror game.

Endlessly charming, stylistic and incredible art, impeccable voice acting and a great point-and-click detective game with minor puzzles and SO. MUCH. DIALOGUE. Which never feels like a slog because of aforementioned great qualities. These are all things that the Detective Grimoire games have always had. The sequel does not shy away from being absolutely gorgeous, being funny with its duo of detectives, being emotional gripping with its suspects, and with its mysteries being captivating to explore and understand. Now with 3D models and a slightly longer game time (at around 10 hours). And so the question is: Does it improve upon the very obvious shortcoming of its predecessor, and for that matter, is it even necessary to play it, Tangle Tower, if it is? The answer is that it is absolutely better than Tangle Tower by a long shot, yet you still must play Tangle Tower before it. There are certain moments in this game that get your eyes wide open as it calls back to things in Tangle Tower that you simply can't understand nor enjoy without knowing. They aren't necessary per se to enjoy The Mermaid Mask, but you will lose a decent bit of emotional understanding without experiencing all the additional information from Tangle Tower. As for the improvements, this game has by far the best finale of all the Detective Grimoire games, which was the sticking point of Tangle Tower. The build up to its story is well-done, and it absolutely nails the climax too. Its culprit is by far the most well-executed of the three, and that's including Secret of the Swamp too, and the crime and motive definitely makes the most sense too. It's also reasonably solvable before the final act, although you wouldn't be able to figure out all of its mysteries so easily either, while also still resolving pretty much every single thing in the game. Aside from the lingering mystery beneath it all of course. There's room for another sequel here, but time will tell if SFB Games will make it. I can see that the Grimoire games take a LOT of effort, but by god I would be so happy to see the conclusion of this mysterious throughline building through them. A perfect Detective Grimoire game I would say.

bought on launch day, as I've done with all SFB games 3 hours / 20% in, no notes, it's perfect so far the puzzles are great, the voice acting is great, i'm so engaged in this story to far will update my review when i'm done with it but this rocks so far and i know people look to early reviews as a vibe-assessment yall it's great, get in here hell yeah dude

i was waiting for this game for so long!!!! the only problem that i've found is that if i press scape to save file or something i cant, the game just put in fullscreen mode or windowed mode, i dont really know how to solve this, i can't save my file and play :( thank's for the game btw!!!
