Tin Can is a charming little survival game that is more technical than other, similar titles. I have seen people compare this to Subnautica and it is explicitly NOT that. You are a janitor on a large spaceship. It just exploded and you made it onto a semi-realistic escape pod. Your goal is to hold out as long as you can. To this end there's Rescue mode (hold out for a certain amount of time), challenge modes (limitations), and ranked mode (last as long as you can). So what is gameplay? You're in a little escape pod and have a bunch of modules (generator, gravity, main computer, cooling, O2, CO2, Pressure, Repair station, and some other minor ones). You can open these modules and cannibalize them for a range of electronics and equipment (fuses, batteries, transformers, processors, etc). You can also take the pieces you don't need at all and turn them into scrap used to repair other things. So here's the loop: You get all your equipment in order and then a space event happens that damages your system. You take steps to minimize damage and not die during the even then you use the time between events to repair your stuff and get everything reset back to "normal." This goes on for about 30 - 60 minutes and eventually you die. One thing I think is a missed opportunity (though maybe not for this game with this tone) is that the cover art and the trailer give the impression you'll be collecting items in space. I say that because of the art featuring floating tools and electronics. In reality, you don't leave the pod. The systems described above is all there is. You don't leave the pod and you don't even have a space suit. Also, the game is designed around high-level play but rarely utilizes it. Some of the systems and events have *extremely* limited use case. There's a pressure system in the ship that is off 99% of the time and only used for one specific encounter. Likewise, there are two events that makes your generator less powerful and... can basically be ignored. And it's weird this happens at all because the tutorial specifically emphasizes things like "Low on oxygen? Try increasing the cabin pressure to consume less" or "In a pinch you can unlock the airlock to reduce cabin pressure" and it basically never comes up. Edit: After playing a little more, the events can be summed up as: Wait for things to break and then fix them, turn on the pressure generator and vent the airlock if the pressure gets too high, run everything on battery (2 of these), and finally run everything on battery... but also disconnect them from the main system. And... that's really disappointing that they have all these systems and gameplay elements... but couldn't think of anything interesting to do with them. On the other hand: One thing I really appreciate is the Rescue mode doesn't give you a fully functional pod every time. Instead, there's specific things missing or broken in each scenario and you start in a hallway outside the pod where you have 60 seconds to scavenge for items that might help you survive. It's a well thought-out twist on the standard format. It's fun and I recommend it, especially if it's on sale. So... go on... add it to your cart already.

This game makes me feel like I am at work, attempting to fix things quickly in an unreasonable and stressful environment. I hate it. Would totally play again, 5/5 stars, lol
