Do I recommend the game? Yes rather than no, but if there would be a scale, I would say it's somewhere in the middle. The concept and the general gameplay is good, and even though I have encountered many bugs, that's not where it fell short (luckily, you can solve most of the bugs by restarting the game, and you only lose one game day max). I really wanted to progress, but after just about 2 hours, it seemed like I have reached everything the game could offer. Any further upgrades such as different kennel types felt pointless, and I was already swimming in in-game money and reputation, while being a bit bored. I turned the "difficulty" and pacing up, but still, To The Rescue! felt ill-paced, as I was mostly waiting for new dogs and adopters to show up. My rescue had always space for more dogs (many more), so again, there was no need for kennel upgrades or placing more of them, not to mention the foster home system which was also quite unnecessary given the difficulty and pacing of the game. I didn't enjoy the playing minigames either, so that was the first duty I gave to my helpers once the opportunity arose. Another thing that made me a bit sad is that some of the already adopted dogs in my game came back again. I mean, it happens in real life, but I doubt this was the goal here - it seemed like the random generator hadn't been trained enough to avoid these situations. Overall, I don't regret playing this game, but I feel it could have been so much more. Or, just take away the unnecessary things in it, and let it be a short, adorable shelter simulator. The game runs smoothly on Steam Deck, but I did have to use the touch-screen once in a while, especially during the Persuade parts, and sometimes it glitched out and I had to restart it.

I'm gonna give this a thumbs up because I keep coming back to this game for short sessions, but it's VERY buggy. It's a coin toss if the game will let you have a good run or just get you stuck. And it came out nearly 4 years ago, that's... not great. I love the concept and it scratches an itch I have for cozy cute management games, but I really wish that I could actually have a cozy time :')

super nice and calming. i play this game to unwind and just turn off my brain while taking care of cutely designed puppers. OH YEAHH! i need more animal shelter games in this format as someone who gets a bit motion sick from the first person ones.

I first played this game back in 2022 and it has made leaps and bounds since then. They have really put a lot of time and thought in this management game and it really is a great time. Since 2022 they made (what ive noticed) great updates on the controls, the flow of the game in general and integrated good motivational goals as you play. But i'm sure a whole lot more that i have yet to notice. The art work and the cute little dogos are real joy, would definitely recommend !
