CAN BE MADE TO WORK Really excellent Splinter Game, and the best graphic-wise I suppose that is still available. It does have two issues that can both be fixed with some googling: - it requires a login to ubisoft connect every start up - download fixed executable from gamecopyworld - it quits after 30 mins - run in offline mode with the launch parameters -offline -offline_mode Now on to my review.... I am a massive Splinter Cell fan - it introduced me to stealth gameplay which I really took to. I loved being able to take my time, plan my attacks and routes, and not be constantly having to run around shooting and defending. Splinter Cell Blacklist is the 6th game in the series, and to me was a return to form after a few games that didn’t quite hit the mark. It has everything you want in a SC game - loads of gadgets, a variety of locations, lots of stealthy shenanigans, a brooding protagonist etc etc. It looks and plays great. A nice touch is the ability to be scored based on your preferred playstyle. If like me you prefer stealth, you can try and max out the stealth scores by not killing anyone or getting detected in a level. But if you prefer to assassinate people you can do that, or even go loud with guns. Each method earns points which in turn let you upgrade your gear and your plane (which serves as your base of operations). The former giving access to better stealth suits and gadgets, the latter providing field upgrades like improved radar etc. It’s a solid upgrade tree that feels motivational and not out of reach, and I really enjoyed upgrading my Sam Fisher to a true badass. Because of this combination of tactical variety and open-plan level design, each level is incredibly replayable, which has always been a fun aspect of these games. All in all, it’s a great addition to the series and I really hope they bring it back as Ubisoft seem to have lost interest, which is a real shame.

FIX for the crashing:- Type -offline -offline_mode in the launch options on steam, did that and now it only crashes very rarely, before it was every 20 minutes or so. It is a very fun stealth game, pretty linear with some openness. Coop isn't there anymore but the charlie missions which are wave based and the campaign are a good time. The new voice actor I have warmed too a bit but he is more generic. You have lots of gadgets and can play like a ghost or aggressive. Buy the steam version so you can fix it, it shouldn't have to be done but there you go.

This game was ahead of its time! Feels nostalgic playing it and I have no complaints AFTER I fixed the crashing every 30 minutes. Here’s how you’d do it: 1. In Steam → Right-click Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist. 2. Select Properties. 3. In Launch Options, type: -offline -offline_mode Hope this helps!

Out of the box, this game simply doesn't run well on contemporary hardware and doesn't allow you to use the original DLC. !!!UNLESS!!! it is modded to use all your modern CPU cores, unlock the missing DLC, and also customize the difficulty level to your liking: https://github.com/ThirteenAG/WidescreenFixesPack/releases/tag/scb Complete gamechanger. The game is performant now, I can access all the DLC suits and weapons, and it has been a joy getting back into this lost PS3-era chapter of Splinter Cell. I hear peer-to-peer multiplayer and coop can be done with something called 5th Echelon too, although I haven't tried it out yet.
