GHOST RECON BREAKPOINT — Ubisoft’s Edition Matrix & DRM Incident Log Status: Great Tactical Sandbox Trapped Under Corporate Garbage | Score: 6/10 (Only Buy on 80%+ Discount) THE EDITION MATRIX CONFUSION (READ BEFORE YOU BUY): Ubisoft turned buying a single video game into a calculus exam. Here is what these scumbags are actually selling you: [*] Standard Edition: The base game. (The ONLY version you should buy, and ONLY when it's on a massive 80% sale). [*] Deluxe Edition: Base game + 1 useless cosmetic pack. Absolute cash-grab scam. [*] Gold Edition: Base game + Year 1 Pass (Includes Deep State & Red Patriot story DLCs + early class unlocks). The only upgrade worth touching if you want full story content. [*] Ultimate Edition: Gold Edition + 3 extra cosmetic bundles that nobody gives a ♥♥♥♥ about. Total waste of money. THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE CORPORATE UGLY: 1. The "Immersive Mode" Miracle At launch, this game was an insulting Division knock-off with gear scores, RPG health bars, and bullet-sponge enemies. Thankfully, Ubisoft listened to the backlash and added "Immersive Mode." Turn off gear score, disable the HUD, pump up the difficulty, and Breakpoint instantly transforms into an incredible, gritty tactical stealth sandbox on the island of Auroa. 2. Always-Online DRM In a Single-Player Game Why the ♥♥♥♥ does a solo military game require a constant, flawless internet connection? If Ubisoft’s servers sneeze, or your Wi-Fi hiccups for 2 seconds while you’re 45 minutes deep into a stealthy base-wipe, you get kicked straight to the main menu. Unforgivable anti-consumer design. 3. The Ubisoft Connect Launcher Virus You buy the game on Steam. You launch it. It opens Ubisoft Connect. It forces you to log in, updates itself for 10 minutes, syncs cloud saves for 5 minutes, and then MAYBE lets you play. We are sick and tired of launchers inside launchers. 4. Microtransaction Mall Even after paying for the game, you are greeted with a massive real-money store selling guns, camos, attachments, and cosmetics. They literally built the game world to feel empty so they could sell you cosmetics in the store. FINAL INCIDENT VERDICT: Underneath all the Ubisoft corporate bloat, always-online ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, and greedy monetization, there is actually a phenomenal 4-player co-op / solo tactical stealth game here. BUYING ADVICE: Never buy this at full price. Wait for a deep Steam sale, grab the Standard or Gold Edition for dirt cheap, turn on Immersive Mode, mute the microtransaction pop-ups, and enjoy sniping mercenaries with your squad. 6.5/10.
I went into Ghost Recon Breakpoint without expecting too much, and honestly, I ended up having a pretty good time with it. It definitely has its problems, but there’s something really enjoyable about exploring the island, taking out enemy bases and slowly improving your character. The open world is probably one of the strongest parts of the game. Auroa is huge and has a lot of different environments, from forests and mountains to military bases and industrial areas. Exploring the map, finding new locations and simply moving around the island can be surprisingly fun. The gunplay is also pretty solid. There are plenty of weapons to choose from, and the customization gives you a lot of freedom to play the way you want. Sneaking into enemy bases, scouting the area and taking enemies out one by one can be really satisfying when everything goes according to plan. However, the game definitely has some technical problems. I ran into several weird audio issues where sounds would sometimes disappear, play at the wrong volume or just feel completely out of place. There are also some graphical glitches and visual bugs that can be pretty distracting. Nothing completely game-breaking, but enough to remind you that the game could have used more polish. Another big problem is the amount of grinding. There are so many missions, collectibles, gear upgrades, challenges and other activities that it can start feeling less like you're playing because you want to and more like you're completing chores. The constant loot and gear progression can also get tiring, especially when you realize how much time you need to spend on relatively minor upgrades. The story is probably one of the weaker parts for me. There are some interesting characters and moments, but overall it didn't leave a huge impression. I mostly found myself enjoying the gameplay and exploration rather than being invested in the main plot. Despite all of that, I still had a good time with Breakpoint. The stealth, gunplay and freedom of approach are genuinely fun, and when the game is working properly, it can be a great tactical shooter. I just wish there was less grinding and that the technical side had received a bit more polish. Overall, I’d give Ghost Recon Breakpoint around 7.5/10. A fun game with a lot of potential, but also one that makes you work through quite a few unnecessary problems to really enjoy it.
I played the closed beta years ago and never picked it up, today i saw it was 3 euros, its not a very good game in all honesty but cmon 3 euros?? The game feels to "gamey" I just wanna do cool stuff in the world and be immersed, and not be constantly reminded its a game. Story telling is absolute garbage, I cannot find myself to care for any of the cringe characters, also the random npc dialogue is horrendous and cringe. Yea not very good, but for 3 euros it really doesnt need to be, I pity the poor fools who paid full price for this though at some point.
