Another wonderful little $1 platformer. They actually listened to fans, leading to a much better gameflow if you're going for speed. Wish they hadn't listened enough to give it a boss fight, but once I figured out how to dodge the attacks it wasn't that bad. Overall though, fantastic time, and they even added a few bonus levels for free recently! Siactro is one of the few studios I make sure to keep up with, and even if this is an earlier title it still holds up.

A continuation of the first game, but the pacing of each level has been ramped up with different types of speed boosts scattered abundantly. This leads to faster, yet simultaneously more fluid gameplay. There's also a pleasant surprise for those of you that make it to the end. The bonus content has also been expanded to include more little quirks to play around with. Overall, a noticeable improvement from the previous game, but I really hope the developer considers a larger project for the next one. I'm thinking more platforming mechanics and a larger selection of levels, maybe different worlds with their own sets of levels. Hell, maybe even an editor to be able to make community maps. A project like that would certainly warrant a price tag higher than the standard $1, but I think the small, yet passionate community would definitely support something like this.

Similar to the first one with some improvements around the board. It's incredibly cheap and is quick to beat within an hour or so if you just want to beat the game without going for unlocks or the bonus stages. There is a replayability factor to it though in the spirit of S-ranking stages and unlocking characters so that can help you get more out of Toree 2. Compared to the first one, the stages here seem harder to S-Rank which might appeal to you if you like 3D platformers. The environments were cute and I like the upbeat music. All-in-all, a bite-sized game for a quick dash of fun.

Toree 2 is a 3D platformer created by solo developer Siactro released in 2021. It’s short, inexpensive, a little weird, and genuinely fun. You play a little yellow bird named Toree doing your usual little bird things, like sprinting as fast as you can through active volcanoes collecting yellow stars. The game has 9 levels, the first eight of which can be played in any order to unlock the final, 9th level. You dash through linear platformer levels, jumping over pits, avoiding enemies, and hitting boosts to speed you along the track. The game is modeled after the 3D platformers of the 90s with very polygonal designs, and features snappy uptempo pop and electronic music by the Red Panda. Toree herself has cute voice lines and barks, and is voiced by American VTuber Syiona. The levels are very bright and colorful, though later levels take a turn towards the weird and creepy. The game sells for 0.99 USD. You can finish every level and see credits roll in about half an hour, but that’s not really the point. In order to 100% you would need to collect all the gold stars on every level, and get an S-Ranked time (these do not need to be done simultaneously.) Only then could you declare yourself a true Toree 2 master. It’s meant to be replayed over and over until perfected, and it’s a smooth and enjoyable enough game that it doesn’t become repetitive or boring to do so.
