Ultra Street Fighter IV is more than just a game to me. I’ve been playing it since my school days, and even after all these years, it still hits the same. It’s like therapy – whenever life gets a little too much, I just fire up USF4, and everything feels a bit better. This game is a masterpiece if you’re into fighting games. It has such a deep yet balanced fighting system. Like, no matter how good you get, there’s always room to improve. What really makes this game special to me is the memories. The late night grind sessions, the rage after losing to my friends, the joy of finally landing a finisher while both of your health bar is at 1% – it’s all priceless. Sure, it’s not perfect. Online can be hit or miss depending on connections, and some matchups are kinda janky. But honestly? None of that takes away from how damn good the game is overall. And yeah, I’ve played a ton of other fighters over the years, but I always come back to this one. It’s home.

One of the better fighting games around. It has aged well and is still somewhat active online. Will always be a classic!

Now, we're entering the new era of gaming, transitioning from good ol' pixels to polygonal 3D models. Every fighters you knew and loved are still here. With more additionals and special ones that exclusively made their appearances in this version. Ultra SFIV is greatly excellent! Though the looks are more cartoony with cel shading galore and bleedingly overbright colourful, but still fun to play it. Either solo or versus (local co-op only, since everyone already move on a long time ago to the newest entry of Street Fighter series). For those of you who often play using Steam Deck, and recently bought this awesome fighting game. You must activate the Compatibility Mode and use Proton (specifically Proton-6.21-GE-2.). Other protons may not working or mostly the cutscenes has no audio. If you don't know how to, look it up. There are plenty of complete infos plus tutorials about it on Youtube, or simply go to ProtonDB site. So far this is still my favorite among many of Street Fighter franchise, old and new ones. Though I often play the pixels era version of Street Fighter more, sometimes I chose this and play it with my buddies. Most of the famous ones gather here from different series, all in one game. With 44 fighters in total by the time I wrote this, and for sure Capcom won't add more. From Decapre to Poison with Blanka and Oni etc. So many other great ones are here for you to fight on. And I liked the anime style for each of the fighters prologue and epilogue. So if you just want to walk on memory lane, simply nostalgic of playing a classic game with a touch of modern era, where every single of fighters from the old Street Fighter series you knew has gather together for a fun and friendly couch match, then look no further. Because this one will definitely keeps you coming back for more, just when you think you had enough. b(^_^)d

Summary: Ultra Street Fighter IV is a solid fighting game with deep mechanics and a rich roster of 44 characters. However, the game is now over 10 years old, and the player base has dwindled. https://steamcharts.com/app/45760 Given the game's age and the current state of its online community (very small and comprised mostly of seasoned vets), I can only recommend buying it on sale. The lowest recorded sale price is $3.89 at -87%. Full Review: Ultra Street Fighter IV is the fourth and final update to the fourth main entry in the Street Fighter series. The first version of Street Fighter IV was released in 2008 (roughly 9 years after Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike). Super Street Fighter IV came out in 2010, 3D Edition launched in 2011, and Ultra Street Fighter IV was released in 2014. Street Fighter IV has a similar feel to Super Street Fighter II Turbo while incorporating features from Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike and adding new features of its own. As expected, the game has a high skill ceiling with combos that require 1-frame links (i.e., frame-perfect inputs). Mechanics such as Focus Attacks, Red Focus, delayed wake-ups, plinking, double plinking, kara cancelling, and Focus Attack Dash Cancels (FADC) add layers of strategic depth. Mastery involves not only learning these mechanics (along with your character's combos and special moves), but also knowing when to use them by taking into account distance/spacing, reflexes, and timing. Understanding matchups and frame data is crucial for high level play. The skill floor is deceptively high. Button mashing is basically like flailing your arms in a real fight, hoping to land a knock out. It's not going to work in real life against a trained fighter, nor does it work in video games against a skilled player. The learning curve can be pretty steep, depending on player skill and familiarity. As usual, computer controlled opponents will read inputs and have insane reactions (especially on higher difficulty settings), but at the same time can be easily exploited by things that wouldn't work against human players (such as spamming Focus Attack). A major issue with these older competitive games is the small player base, which results in a wide skill gap. For new players to effectively learn and enjoy the game, they typically need three types of opponents: those of superior skill to learn from, those of similar skill to spar with, and those of less skill to teach. These days, two out of three of those types are lacking. Nonetheless, if you can grab Ultra Street Fighter IV on sale for around $4, it's still a worthwhile purchase for Street Fighter fans or fighting game enthusiasts looking to explore the series. PS: The game runs perfectly on Linux with Proton-GE *except* for missing audio during cutscenes. This issue occurred with newer versions of Proton-GE (7/8/9), though Proton-GE 6.21 played cutscene audio normally.
