Uninvited Guest, developed and published by AdroVGames, is a short but atmospheric indie horror title that aims to immerse players in a classic, slow-burn haunted house experience. Drawing inspiration from early 20th-century gothic horror and traditional point-and-click adventures, the game places heavy emphasis on mood, environmental storytelling, and psychological tension rather than relying on constant jump scares or action-heavy gameplay. It succeeds in crafting a uniquely unsettling ambiance despite its relatively brief runtime and small development team, making it a noteworthy experience for fans of classic horror aesthetics and narrative-driven games. The premise is straightforward: you take on the role of a man who stumbles upon an old, seemingly abandoned mansion during a storm. With little context, you're left to explore the dimly lit, decaying halls, unraveling the story behind the house and its former inhabitants. As you move through the environment, the narrative unfolds through environmental cues, scattered documents, and occasional supernatural encounters. The lack of overt exposition adds to the mystery, creating a creeping sense of dread as you begin to question what's real and what might be a manifestation of guilt, madness, or something more sinister. Visually, Uninvited Guest embraces a stylized, painterly 2.5D aesthetic that contributes significantly to its unsettling tone. The muted color palette, combined with detailed textures and flickering light sources, enhances the atmosphere of decay and abandonment. Shadows are used effectively to obscure details, heightening the player's imagination and paranoia. While the visuals aren’t pushing technical boundaries, they are well-crafted and artistically consistent, serving the narrative and tone admirably. The game’s sound design is equally effective, relying on ambient creaks, distant whispers, and the constant patter of rain to create an immersive, tense environment. The soundtrack is subtle, used sparingly to highlight key moments and build suspense. Gameplay-wise, Uninvited Guest blends exploration with light puzzle-solving. The puzzles are mostly inventory-based or involve deciphering codes and clues hidden in the environment. While not overly complex, they require careful observation and a bit of backtracking, which fits the deliberate pacing and mystery-driven structure of the game. The interface is clean and accessible, avoiding unnecessary complication. There are also a few brief sequences that flirt with stealth or survival mechanics, but these are limited and designed more to enhance tension than to challenge the player's reflexes. The primary focus remains on unraveling the story and atmosphere rather than surviving threats in a traditional sense. The narrative itself leans into psychological horror and ambiguous storytelling. Themes of grief, betrayal, and hidden guilt are threaded throughout the narrative, though never explicitly spelled out. As the player uncovers notes and personal belongings, a disturbing picture emerges—one that invites interpretation rather than offering clear answers. This ambiguity is one of the game’s strengths, allowing players to piece together the backstory at their own pace and draw their own conclusions. The title "Uninvited Guest" becomes more than just a literal reference; it also alludes to the emotional and psychological forces that haunt the house and the protagonist alike. However, Uninvited Guest is not without its shortcomings. Its brevity—typically under two hours—may leave some players wanting more, especially those expecting a multi-layered, branching narrative. Similarly, while the puzzles and exploration are engaging, they can feel too simple or underdeveloped compared to more intricate titles in the genre. Some players might also find the slow pacing or minimal interactivity frustrating, particularly if they’re accustomed to more action-driven horror games. But within its scope and design intentions, the game delivers a focused and atmospheric experience that plays to its strengths. In conclusion, Uninvited Guest is a concise, artfully crafted indie horror game that prioritizes atmosphere, story, and psychological tension over action or spectacle. Its moody visuals, haunting sound design, and subtly layered narrative make it a compelling experience for players who enjoy slower-paced, thoughtful horror. While it doesn’t revolutionize the genre or offer hours of content, it accomplishes what it sets out to do with confidence and clarity. For those looking for a short but memorable journey into the shadows of a forgotten mansion—and the human psyche—Uninvited Guest is a ghost story worth experiencing. Rating: 7/10

The game is alright. The visuals are good, the jumpscares are somewhat repetative so by chapter 3 you just run past them. The atmosphere is good, but they could`ve done better. Every few steps you`ve got breathing in your ears which in the beginning seems threatening but after 20 minutes of playing you get used to it. Same goes for random noises. If you built suspense before using these sounds it could have been great. All in all it was enjoyable so i do recommend it.

Uninvited Guest is my type of first-person horror game. I don’t really care for extremely gruesome horror games, so Uninvited Guest had just the right amount of fright factor for me. It’s dark and it’s creepy; there are strange ghoulish creatures following you or at times impeding your progress as you journey through a long abandoned old mansion. It’s brimming with jumpscares and chilling sound effects. For the most part the jumpscares are more fun than frightening, some of them made me literally LOL; at other times, I found myself turning around to see what might be lurking behind me. Your mission is to find a one-of-a-kind painting hidden within the old mansion. Along the way you collect notes that fill out the storyline as well as the dev’s signature collectibles. So, if you’re an achievement hunter, those are fairly easy to snag. There are a few simple puzzles to solve throughout the game. However, there’s a QTE in Level 4 that is somewhat maddening because you are not equipped with a sprint key. There is also a bizarre event following it where you have to avoid a statue that comes rushing at you from various directions with no clear hint on how to survive the event. I prevailed after many tries by pure luck and determination. If you are a fan of this dev’s work, as I am, this is worth adding to your collection. The game has 5 rather short levels, so I would recommend waiting for a sale.

Fair warning, you will get bullied by ghosts. It's a great game, beautiful graphics, fairly short, takes about two hours to complete, or possibly more if you want all the achievements and don't catch them all in the first run. The game has quite simple story line and a strong ending.
