Sept. 2025
Vampires’ Melody, developed by AsicxArt and published by SakuraGame, is a captivating visual novel that masterfully blends fantasy, romance, and mystery into a compelling interactive experience. The game centers around Raylan Monroe, a talented young chef whose life takes an unexpected turn after a mysterious encounter with a girl who resembles the fabled Sleeping Beauty. This chance meeting propels him into a world steeped in supernatural intrigue, where vampires, hidden secrets, and ancient legends intersect. The narrative unfolds with a rich depth, drawing players into an emotionally charged story that balances moments of tenderness with tension and suspense. One of the strongest aspects of Vampires’ Melody is its intricate storytelling, which is structured around a branching narrative system. Players are presented with meaningful choices that shape the direction of the plot and the relationships between characters, resulting in over ten different endings. This design invites multiple playthroughs, each revealing new layers of the story and expanding upon the characters’ backgrounds and motivations. The protagonist’s connection to Yella Lester, a centuries-old vampire with a complex past, is particularly well developed, adding a nuanced emotional core to the experience. The writing effectively combines romantic elements with hints of mystery and supernatural lore, creating an engaging atmosphere that keeps players invested throughout. Visually, the game excels with its use of Live2D animation, which brings character sprites to life through smooth, fluid motions that go beyond static images typical of many visual novels. The high-quality artwork, from detailed character designs to richly rendered backgrounds, helps immerse players in the game’s gothic yet enchanting world. Each scene is carefully composed, with lighting and color choices that enhance the mood, whether it’s the quiet intimacy of a tender moment or the eerie tension of a suspenseful encounter. The attention to detail in the art elevates the storytelling, making the emotional beats more impactful and the fantasy elements more believable. Complementing the visuals is a carefully crafted soundscape that enriches the overall experience. The game features a memorable original theme song and an atmospheric soundtrack that adapts to the unfolding narrative, heightening emotions and emphasizing key moments. The main heroine’s full voice acting adds a layer of personality and realism, making her presence more tangible and the player’s choices feel significant. This level of audio production demonstrates a commitment to quality, helping to draw players deeper into the story and making the characters more relatable. From a gameplay standpoint, Vampires’ Melody offers a straightforward and accessible experience, ideal for both newcomers and veteran visual novel players. The user interface is clean and intuitive, allowing players to focus on the unfolding story without distraction. The branching system is easy to navigate, encouraging exploration of different story paths without overwhelming complexity. This simplicity is a strength, as it lets the narrative and character interactions take center stage, which is where the game truly shines. The game’s accessibility extends beyond gameplay to include language options, supporting English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, and Japanese. This multilingual approach broadens its appeal to a global audience and demonstrates thoughtful consideration for players worldwide. Additionally, the technical requirements are modest, ensuring that the game runs smoothly on a variety of systems without demanding high-end hardware, making it more widely available. In summary, Vampires’ Melody is a richly crafted visual novel that successfully combines an emotional and mysterious storyline with polished visuals and immersive audio. Its well-designed branching narrative, compelling characters, and atmospheric presentation make it a standout title in its genre. Players seeking a romantic adventure infused with supernatural intrigue and meaningful choices will find this game a rewarding experience that encourages multiple replays and deep engagement with its world. Overall, Vampires’ Melody offers a memorable journey through a beautifully crafted story that resonates long after the final scene. Rating: 9/10

mid at best, could be boring for someone Lets do pros and cons pros: ■ chill music ■ good art ■ voice acting for main vampiress ■ different endings and really comfy flow chart where you can tp to certain points and see how many possible answers are there cons: ■ the story is too plain and simple by itself ■ empty world, though it could be more meaninful ■ no interesting characters except two main heroes So if you wanna chill and cute love-story you can read it, smth deeper - not your cup of tea.

A super cliché history. It's very lovely though. If you want a simple history with a good tsundere, it's perfect for you.

There were 2 unique things i especially liked about Vampires' Melody: 1. The main girl Yella doesn't randomly and immediately fall in love with the protagonist, like what happens in most visual novels. Actually, it's not even clear if Yella likes the protagonist or not. She keeps you wondering, hoping, and wanting, like when you have a crush in real life. 2. It has a story flowchart which shows you exactly all the choices and scenes it leads to. Plus, you can actually interact with the flowchart and jump to scenes and pick a different choice. This is the only visual novel that has this, as far as I know. and it's wonderful. no need to make save games all the time to go back and forth. Yella is a pretty interesting character. independent, but also slightly arrogant which may cause her to make mistakes. And she comes with great voice acting and costume design. The whole game looks amazing by the way. The artwork is pristine. The soundtrack is amazing, even more peaceful and nostalgic than Fluffy Store's. I wish the soundtrack DLC was more complete. I think the game includes a lot of free music, which I guess they're not allowed to commercialize in any way. but you can find it on youtube. As for the story, I feel like there is much more than is being told, which left me curious. For example, there's a large criminal organization in the story, but we only interact with them superficially. And I would've loved to learn more about this great "renowned Mr. Cook", but we only get small mentions in passing. A lot of things simply happen without much explanation. A related problem is with the endings. The game has multiple endings as a selling point, but I feel like the amount of endings made it worse, as each ending is rather short, making them a little anticlimactic. But it's hard to not like this VN. Even though the story may not be world-class literature, it does everything else extremely well. Worth way more than its price. Also, you can switch between languages on the fly.
