Truly unique creativity is rare these days. At first, I was a bit turned off by the shooting and gameplay flow of the game, but over time I have warmed up to it after upgrading my guns, especially the Shotgun to have the Semi-auto upgrade. It's simply a must-have upgrade in this game, bar none. From then on, it's a smooth, exciting ride towards the end of the game. Onto what I said in the first line of this review, this is one of the most creative games I have ever experienced. From the aliens and creatures' designs to the weapons that you wield, while containing all the familiar aspects of our normal world, were designed in such a way that I would never think of, I truly admire this developer's mind. Ironic since in one of the path that you can take in the campaign, you can straight up get a classic AK-47 that works quite well. While the story on first-glance, quite nonsense sci-fi Rick & Morty-type of vibe, it's actually quite simple. The protagonist, Sonja, the one who you play as, just wants to go home. And for some reason, all these funky characters want to help you to get to the reactor core that will supposedly take you home, but obviously, they would not have helped you if it were not for some higher causes or if they have something to gain. How this plays out or what choice you make is up to you. Lastly, even though I have finished the main game, there are still bountiful content of the game for me to consume. With 3 more playable characters with different playstyles, custom community maps, and secret weapons to discover. Compounding all these facts, this game was a solo dev's project over many years. What a wonderful and creative game, something that is very rare these days. I highly recommend everyone to play this game and also to have no shame to put this game to easy mode as this game can get quite challenging in certain parts, where I have seen turned people off from the game. Do not be afraid to adjust the difficulty to your liking via mutators or difficulty options, make your own fun, it's a single player game for godsake!

There are only 3 other story based VR games with a level of quality comparable to that of Vertigo 2. 2 of those 3 games are from popular flat-screen series that are simply too big to fail, & the other is an Oculus exclusive. This game is beyond worth it, but for the love of God don't play it until you have played a worse VR game. It is simply THAT good.

Just WOW... Vertigo 1 is like a sketch of a cool thing done in a short time of 1 year. Vertigo 2 is a whole sculpture, after 7 years of work and creative freedom and polish which came without time constraints. There are some cool connections to first one, so play both. It is worth it. If creator has no energy or creative fuel to do another game, then please do some side work to help other projects or something, cuz your creative stuff in this game were great! I played first one on Viveport infinity, which allows you to play some games after monthly payment. At some point I am going to buy remaster here too, just from respect for the dev.
