Hi there, I am a 67 years old Hunter...Enjoyed playing Way of the Hunter with great pleasure, and since Way of the Hunter 2 has arrived just started enjoying it. The game looks excellent, animals are well groomed, Enviornment, graphics and all features look gr8. What difficulties I am facing are: 1- The Hunter sence is not very effective - means if a animal is spooked, it is difficult to trace them, unlike in Way of Hunter 1, there was these white circles going where the animal has run off to. This helped in tracking them down soon. 2- The small ? marks and the green leaf is not helping in knowing the eating zones and drinking zones, unlike in the previous game these areas were highlight as the hunter sence is on. Easy to know the zones. 3- The foilage or the Grass height is far too high, unable to the see the animal even at 50 mtrs, unless you stand, and when you do so, the animal is spooked ad off it goes!!!! 4- The blood marker - the Dot...isn't working well, previous game blood trails can be seen for a loooong distance where the animal was found dead. 5- The level system for me is questionable? You cant buy a Gun, an attachment, a good binocular or a good sight unless you come or pass a certain level-why? Old people need good vision to hunt and a good high caliber sight makes our hunt more easy - we don't have to burn our eyes!!! These are my thoughts and rest I leave it to your team to decide on my requests, And Remember Old Hunters Never Die, they always stay Loaded !!!! Thanks you for giving me this opportunity to communicate. Let me enjoy the new update here on Stream now. Good Bye.

Oh im quite old my Friends, near 50's. I remember playing first Deer Hunter, then Deer Hunter 2005 which was my favourite. Years later i was amazed by The Hunter Online, and some time later by Call of he Wild. But.,, This iteration of Way of the Hunter is perfect. I remember hunting with my dad about 30 years ago and i got same feeling now. Plus we have herd managment etc. , even speakable NPCs. Great. Game looking and working fantastic im on strong rig with 7900xtx gpu , 94gb ram, and 79503d Ryzen 9 , everything is so beautiful and fluid. Im in love with this title, and if it only had weapon and ammo customization like Deer Hunter 2005 it will be perfect. It was worth of waiting for such a perfect hunting title. 10/10 and its just a start as EA!

After a few patches, the game no longer CTD's for me, so I think I can manage a review. So far my takes. Its an improvement over WoH1 and its rival game CoTW. In both WoH1 and CoTW I felt like animals could sense me through terrain, and spook, and tended to spook about 250yds. Which is insane. Now, playing on default difficulty, I am actually able to sneak up to 100 yards on animals and it really looks like there is a game-engine check so that the animal can't see you though a hillside. I also appreciate the ability to get closer. IN my own real-world experience, wild animals don't start getting anxious until you get close to them. Their instinct is to run from something that has to actually catch them by sneaking up close. Just seeing you in the distance, they straight don't care and will just watch you curiously. Ballistics, like the first game, are very good. The hunter sense via little icons is a HUGE improvement over the strange, pulsing yellow glow of previous game. I also love the annoying tunnel vision is gone. I don’t start blacking out IRL when I focus on something, why would I get tunnel vision in a game? Graphics are much improved. There is still visible dithering in the ambient occlusion, but overall the experience is MUCH less "over sharp/eye razors." Though I find the game overall to feel too dark, even in sunlight, the shadows just are just a few clicks too dark. I have a GTX 3080, so it runs well for me on the higher settings. Gun selection is...meh so far, but its an Early Access. Hopefully we'll see at least 4x more guns by 1.0. I am starting to see licensed scopes appearing. I was VERY excited recently to see animals drop tracks AND displace grass when you follow them. I shot an elk, the 1st shot wasn’t fatal, but I was able to track it down for a second shot with some effort! BIG change from game 1 where tracks were not dynamic. I hope this feature get built upon. So far BIG negatives: I cannot turn thermal off/on on the thermal scope! Maybe its like those real scopes that don’t work as just a glass… And I can’t get thermal goggles for moving or navigating in the dark. And the flashlight is WEAK. I have a pocket light that is brighter. Also the nighttime is a bit too dark, I have better night vision than this IRL. No sound from bushes/trees. So far the player doesn’t make noise brushing though foliage. I NEED a volume slider for ambient sounds. Particularly the wind. Its too much, IMO. The darn pickup truck is TOO LOUD. That thing has a muffler, its not a race truck! Some things I really want to see: Barrel swaps, or multiple caliber choices of the same guns. Rifles are often sold in a mix of calibers. Or they can be modded with new barrels to fit different calibers. I would love to see some options. Calibrated scopes: modern hunting scopes are oft sold for a specific caliber, with marks in the glass to help you estimate windage and drop. I would love to see some of those kind of scopes included AND have the markings actually work. So for a .308 zeroed at 100, and when shooting at a target at 200 yards, the matching “2 mills” tick mark is the rough impact point. Rifle zeroing: I think the player should have to zero their scopes at the range after swapping them off the rifles, or the guns will shoot away from the point of aim. The little mini game would simulate reality and the sense of prepping your gear, and it would give the shooting ranges an urgent purpose.

This game is super fun, runs really well, But the in-game prices of selling meat/the whole harvest is HORRIBLE! I got a buffalo, 600lbs, I lost half of that to dressing waste, *My guy for some reason doesn't keep the hid atleast* And I made all of 94 DOLLARS!?! Irl that would be several HUNDRED at the least! The rifle prices for the nice stuff to take down a buffalo is on the 3K range, So WHY am I only making 94 bucks??

The game looks promising, already looks and plays better than the first one, but it still needs a lot of work. To be honest I was planning to submit a thumbs down, but decided to give the team a chance since it’s an early access. Here are the bugs/annoyances I encountered just in the first hour of playing and some recommendations for the team: First Bug: Playing the tutorial, the objective to make the dog “search” and locate the blood trail, which the dog did, the objective didn’t clear, I “released” the dog and ordered the “search” command again and again, but it was stuck. I had to skip the whole tutorial just to be able to continue playing the game. Recommendation: Fixing the bug of course but also instead of skipping the whole tutorial, add the option to skip one chapter, or skip the task at hand. Visual Bugs: - The dog’s colors pop out, like it doesn’t belong there (similar how in cartoons make the book the character will take out of the library more colorful and pops out from the rest) If it was a deliberate design to make it easier to find the dog in the forest, I don’t think it’s necessary since it already appears on the compass and as an icon on the screen. - When shooting a target in the practice range, unless I shoot the target circle, the indicator image stays on screen indefinitely even I leave the target practice range, I have to go back, hit the circle for it to disappear. - Same issue from the first game where the grass suddenly loads in front of me. - Not a bug but the game looked too dark, had to up the brightness. - I didn’t like the ladder climbing mechanic in the first game, but I think it is still better than just fading the screen and teleporting the player found in this version, is it just a place holder or that’s how it’ll be? - Also not a bug but I am not used to having the hud on the bottom left, would like to have the option to choose between bottom left or right. Audio Bugs: - Some times the audio just cuts out for a second then comes back. - The intro after starting the game was just mountain “drone like shots” with only wind noises, was there supposed to be someone talking or any other sounds? - When I was hunting my first mule suddenly a lot of sounds didn’t stopped playing, when I shot the rifle there wasn’t a firing sound, no animal running sounds, nothing, just my and the dog’s footsteps, nothing else. - The car is so loud (I’d like for a dedicated volume option just for vehicles not not have to lower the whole sfx volume. Controls: IMPORTANT: When opening the settings tab in the main menu and go down, it is now suddenly controlling the main menu which is in the background and not the settings tab, which made me start the game by accident the first time I launched the game and was configuring the settings (I am using a controller, didn’t used a mouse and keyboard) - Analog stick doesn’t control the menu, only the arrows. Other: - The radial menu for changing the gear or commanding the dog doesn’t seem intuitive to me, I keep holding the button (similar to GTA, Red Dead, and so many other games) rather than pressing it, and pressing it again to command the dog, and I keep using the right stick to choose, then realize it should be the left stick. Right stick would be more intuitive. And I think there is a memory leak like what other people are saying, the game starts with 7GB, and when I stopped playing after an hour it was at 25GB. I stopped playing due to the all sounds disappearing bug I mentioned above, don’t know if it is related to the memory leak issue. This is all what I have for now, might edit the review later, keep it up.
