White Day: A Labyrinth Named School is a remake of the renowned 2001 original in which we find ourselves in the shoes of a boy who is trying to deliver the diary and his love that his classmate So-Young Han wants, but in order to achieve this goal he will have to face the horrors that are to be found in his school at night. The game is centred on a variety of puzzles that require reading notes and paying attention to how to solve them, as well as keeping an eye on surviving the maniacal caretakers of the night. In addition to presenting a tangle of ghosts to scare and damage at higher levels from difficult to hellish (which was unfortunately more tense in the original as it raised the tension at any of the difficulty levels). With a total of 10 endings and a mysterious puzzle to fit around them, White Day tends to be a candlelit rehash of the 2001 version, but which by a small cursed thread fails in its attempt to provoke the terrifying inspection that its pioneering entry managed to provoke.

-Very underrated good horror game remake. -Highly recommence starting on Normal -Frosty the snowman and Rudolph on my ass 24/7 -10 endings and for 100% you have to get each ending in all difficulties. Which means Hell difficulty all 10 times. Don't let that stop you from playing :D -You are required to look at documents through the game for hints, codes are random. I recommend looking at a guide for ending requirements or certain puzzles/items ***SPOILER DOWN******************************************************************************* (to activate Jasmine/Marguerite ending route, you have to complete White Chrysanthemum, Ivy or Hyacinth on Normal, Hard or Hell. They wont unlock on easy). After that you can do Jasmine/Marguerite on any difficulty

Overview: This game showcases immense potential, positioning itself as a contender for one of the best I’ve ever played. However, its execution often leaves much to be desired. The game boasts impressive scale, featuring numerous endings, secrets, options, items, and intricately designed locations. Yet, this abundance can feel overwhelming, as the sheer volume of content can lead to frustration when attempting to explore everything it has to offer. Many of the game's elements are ambitious but executed poorly. While the interactive mechanics present intriguing concepts not commonly found in games, the reality is that much of the gameplay revolves around searching through shelves and cupboards, often yielding nothing. This raises the question: what is the purpose of such extensive searching? The Puzzles: uuuffffff I appreciate the effort to encourage players to find clues independently within their surroundings and documents, particularly at higher difficulty levels. This approach is refreshing in an era where many games provide solutions too readily. The option to select a difficulty level that includes hints is also commendable. However, the game’s vastness, both in narrative and environment, can be a double-edged sword. Exploring these expansive areas can be time-consuming, especially when combined with less-than-ideal interactivity mechanics. It’s frustrating to encounter seemingly irrelevant details or choices that distract from the core experience. For example, one puzzle requires knowledge of Japanese to decipher a code, and there are only a couple of items in the entire game that contain hidden codes. These design choices can lead to moments of confusion that make it nearly impossible to progress without a guide, potentially resulting in hours of fruitless effort. The story itself is engaging, even if its surreal elements are not to my taste. I particularly enjoy the ghost stories woven throughout the narrative. Quality: The voice acting and animations are superb, although the character interactions could use improvement. The behavior of the janitors can be particularly frustrating; they have an uncanny ability to detect the player from great distances, leaving little room for stealth. When seeking refuge, be prepared for extended waiting times as they search the area. There are also minor bugs present, and their impact can be exacerbated during tense moments, such as when you find yourself reloading an auto-save while being pursued by a janitor. Summary: This game offers a lot of value, especially when purchased at a discount, considering its quality. However, players should be prepared for a significant amount of aimless wandering and the occasional frustration of needing to consult a guide to fully appreciate its depth.

This game is the epitome of having the potential to be one of the best I ever played. That is, if it wouldn't be so dumb. It has very high "highs" and very low "lows". In other words, as much as it could amaze me, it could infuriatingly frustrate me. The highest "high" is the scale of the game. There are many endings, secrets, options, items, details, locations etc. Which makes me very sad, because I would lose all my hair trying to experience it all, being the very low "lows". Most aspects of this game are a very cool attempt, executed poorly. The interactive mechanics are interesting, something you don't find in a lot of games, but at the same time total garbage. Not only do you have to look for every little detail, but 90% of the game is looking into a shelf, cupboard, whatever... and finding nothing at all. What's the point? THE PUZZLES. I love the attempt to make it "find the clues yourself in your surroundings and documents without hints" (if you play on difficulty normal or higher). I've been craving this for a very long time, because most games lack this and just give you the solution on a silver plate, not letting you think at all. And I love that the game also lets you choose a difficulty where you actually have hints. BIG HOWEVER. As aforementioned, this game is gigantic, not only story-wise but location-wise as well. Which is a great thing. However, it takes an eternity to explore. In correlation with the crap interact-ability mechanics, you can't find shit. They're either stupid details, stupid choices by the developers, or just stupid mechanics. TWO GREAT EXAMPLES: [*]there is one code you can decipher only if you know Japanese. [*]there are only like two pick-able items in the whole game that have a code hidden somewhere on them. It would never even cross my mind to look for that in the first place, and it only happens twice, from like 50+ items you pick up along the way. You literally cannot finish this game without a guide or some other third-party informationist, if you're not willing to bang your head against the wall for tens of hours straight. The story isn't bad, even though the bizarre superphantasmagoria isn't really my cup of tea, but I like everything regarding the ghost stories. The voice acting and animations are amazing back to back, but I hate the character interactions. The janitors' are just cunts. You barely have any place to hide, and they can smell your bone marrow across several rooms. And when you hide, be prepared to doomscroll on your phone because it takes forever for them to leave your vicinity. The game has some minor bugs, but when they happen you know they do. You, constantly loading to an autosave, with one of the janitors sniffing your 1HP butt crack with the last manual save being half an hour old. Overall, very good game, for an extremely low price at a discount considering the quality, but you have to be prepared to roam around pointlessly a lot and trying not to break your shins once you find what you've been missing in a guide.

Ok, I'll start of by saying I absolutely love the ambience in this game and the story is really good, Got to be one of my favourite horror games ever. but ill try to be unbiased because this game definitely has its problems Gameplay 3 / 5 Story and Lore 5 / 5 Graphics 3 / 5 Lowest Difficulty Very fun and spooky Highest Difficulty Unfair, not fun at all Bugs & Glitches Minimal Replayability 4 / 5 My Opinion 8.5 / 10 The game is 'Good' not great gameplay wise but very good if you like a more mystery / paranormal horror game where 80% of the game is just puzzles and reading stories. There's lots of lore and hidden stories/items to collect around the game which is great if you like reading ghost stories. The only thing stopping you exploring is the main antagonists 'The Janitors!' they are constantly walking around and will beat you to a pulp at any moment if they see you, so always be on the look out. I highly recommend playing on "Very Easy' mode just to get the gist of the story before trying higher difficulties, because as you'll find out, some of the puzzles are very confusing but they all make sense once you complete them. The janitors are a huge problem on higher difficulties because they can detect you from a stupidly far distance. (Just read other reviews and you'll see what im talking about} This game has a great story with pretty average slow paced game play. The few characters are all great, The ambience is Amazing! and very spooky, mixed with pretty good ghost stories in game you'll definitely be feeling uneasy at some point. Overall very interesting game and spooky story Positives * Good overall story * Very spooky atmosphere * Lots of different endings * Enjoyable characters * Great ghosts * Puzzling Puzzles * Loads of secrets and items to collect * Average play-through length is prob 3-6 hours (on easy) * Average time to complete all endings is apparently 40+ hours (Can vary massively) Negatives * Lots & lots of reading (I liked it but most wont) * The janitors! on higher difficulties make the game 99% more annoying than anything else * Higher difficulties are almost impossible for most players since the janitors are really unforgiving * Almost all of the ghosts scares are only available on higher difficulties (Some on 'Normal' difficulty but most on 'Hard') * There's a lot of backtracking to grab items * Most of the puzzles are very confusing ( Very easy mode basically marks on the map the area to help figure them out tho ) * A couple of the endings are very bad, and explain nothing about the story * Getting all the endings will be difficult since there are so many * You will almost definitely end up reading a guide at some point/puzzle * Getting ALL the collectables is painful because of the janitors * Achievement grind is Extremely Difficult!
