The strategy is compelling and the art is beautiful. Wingspan is playable ad infinitum because the game's goals, and means to reach those goals, vary each game. Through playing I've learned to recognize birds when I go hiking without even trying to. Looking forward to more expansions!! Currently this is my favorite board game, and the computer game is a welcome substitute when playing the board game is not possible.

When you first play this game you might think its just a pretty game about birds. You would be so wrong. The level of complexity involved in how you play the game is incredible. My son introduced the game to me and we play online together. He has played many more hours than I have, so is able to tell me why he chooses certain bird cards over others. I was amazed to find that this ranks as one of the most popular board games out there, and the fact that there is now an online version of the game with expansions for Europe and Oceanana adds so many more birds to learn about and use in your game play. The online version also calculates all the points you receive from the various ways you can get points makes scoring so much easier then the physical board game. You don't any knowledge about birds to play, but you will definitely learn a lot of fun facts about birds as you play. An addictive game that I would give a score of 9 out of 10.

A beautiful game with a VERY steep learning curve if you don't know the original board game. It's a good idea to search for some videos online that explain the physical board game before you play this version. I tried the tutorial in-game first, but it was more frustrating than helpful. I felt that it was telling me *what* I should be doing (click here, select this card, choose this food from the birdfeeder, etc.), but I had no idea *why* I should be doing any of that, and following the tutorial steps one by one is pointless without understanding the fundamental points first. So, after a few frustrating tutorial sessions I searched for videos online and seeing people explaining the physical board game was really helpful. I still can't say I fully grasp all its complexity, I am at least getting to the point where the game turn by turn is starting to make sense and I see the basic point the player should be aiming for. I even understand what "engine making" means in this context. So, a game that is potentially very enjoyable, relaxing and enriching, and very beautiful due to the bird illustrations and trivia, but potentially also confusing and frustrating for new players. In any case, based on these impressions, I ordered the physical board game (and the European expansion pack) and can really tell how enjoyable it is for young and older players when you fiddle with the physical elements included in the game.

A beautifully illustrated digital version of a board game I fell in love with instantly. I'm a big fan of engine builders and this is the game that taught me how much I like that style of game. I've been playing online with my friends a lot!

The most of my live I fall in love with the strategies or the shooters or RPG's. Wingspan I've just decided to try because of "something weird with beautifully drawn birds". BUT This game is definitely addictive for a long time, because it's very interesting and it's literally impossible to tear yourself away. The most important thing is that no game is ever similar to another. At the same time all of them are interesting, and you don't notice how you are seriously thinking over the choice of a bird or the next step as well as in strategy game. AND Very nice drawing, you look at it , then google about birds. Very relaxing , just a peace of rest in any situation. Thrillingly, earnestly, wisely.
