WRC 6 turned out to be a pretty mixed experience for me. I like playing rally games from time to time, so I decided to give it a proper playthrough and also go for the achievements. And honestly, while doing that, I realized that the game has some genuinely fun moments, but also quite a few things that can really get on your nerves. The driving itself is probably what I enjoyed the most. Once you get used to the car, learn how to take corners properly, listen to the co-driver and control the car on different surfaces, the game can be really satisfying. There’s something great about finally getting a difficult section right after several failed attempts and seeing a good time at the finish. The different surfaces, weather conditions, night stages and car damage also add some nice variety. The career mode is pretty decent too. You start in Junior WRC, gradually move up to WRC 2, and eventually reach the main WRC class. There’s a nice sense of progression, with team management, repairs, contracts and different season objectives. It’s not an incredibly deep career mode, but it works well enough for a rally game. But damn, this game can be frustrating sometimes. There’s no rewind, so one stupid mistake on a long stage can force you to replay several minutes of driving. The penalties for going off the track can also feel ridiculously harsh at times. At the same time, I can’t completely complain about that, because it makes every mistake matter and makes a clean, successful run feel much more rewarding. Technically, the game has definitely aged. The graphics look pretty dated now, some of the environments and stages are fairly simple, and the optimization can be weird. The cars themselves and the damage system still look decent for a game from 2016, though. And if you decide to go for 100% achievements, good ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ luck. That’s where the real suffering begins. There are 41 Steam achievements, and the final Legend achievement requires completing all the internal accomplishments as well. You have to drive a ridiculous number of stages, win races, rack up thousands of kilometers and complete all kinds of specific challenges. There are also multiplayer achievements, which are especially annoying nowadays because finding people to play with can be a challenge by itself. Overall, WRC 6 is a decent rally game that could have been much better with some extra polish. It’s definitely not the best game in the genre, but when you just want to jump into a rally car, blast through some stages and try to improve your times, it does the job. But if you’re like me and decide to go for 100%, prepare to spend a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of time with this game and question your life choices more than once. My rating: 7/10.
A solid and incredibly fun rally foundation. I’ve spent 524.6 hours throwing cars sideways in this one. It is a fantastic entry point for players who want to experience rally racing without the extreme punishment of hardcore simulators. Gameplay & Career Rating: The career mode is structured beautifully, taking you through the ranks. The handling is slightly more forgiving but still requires a lot of precision and focus to set top stage times. | - - - | | 8.5/10 | | - - - | Optimization Rating: As an older title, it is fantastically optimized. While WRC 6 updates the rallies and their stages to the 2016 versions, it also adds more details to the environment, making it a bit more realistic and challenging than its predecessor. Routes are narrower, the amount of knolls and bumps on the terrains were increased as well the amount of vegetation. There is less room for mistakes if you combine the fact that it has only a limited amount of retries. Some stages are longer so that means you gotta have both precision and endurance. Despite the game being unforgiving, I enjoyed it. It truly felt like a real rally experience. Another improvement from WRC 5 is that all rallies are now in the base game and not locked behind paid DLC, thumbs up for that too.
Like WRC 5 But Skidier WRC 6 feels like the moment KT Racing really started finding its footing with the series. It builds confidently on WRC 5’s foundation, sharpening the visuals, tightening the handling, and nudging the experience closer to a true rally simulation feel while still keeping things welcoming for players who enjoy a more relaxed SimCade style. The first thing that stands out is the improved presentation. Environments look richer, stages feel more alive, and the lighting does a far better job of selling the atmosphere of each location. The cars themselves also benefit from more detailed models and a stronger sense of weight. Handling has taken a noticeable step forward too: vehicles feel more responsive, more grounded, and—true to the title of this review—a little skid-friendly in a way that makes slides satisfying without becoming unpredictable. It’s a smart balance that rewards precision but doesn’t punish players who are still learning the ropes. One of the biggest upgrades comes from the stage design. WRC 6 introduces a handful of longer stages that finally give you that endurance‑focused rally rhythm the series had been missing. On top of that, the debut of Super Special Stages (S.S.S.) adds a fun, competitive twist—tight mirrored circuits that feel like a natural evolution for the franchise. It’s a trend that would continue to improve in later entries, but WRC 6 deserves credit for laying the groundwork. There are a couple of drawbacks worth mentioning. Some of the achievements lean into unnecessary grind territory, though thankfully they’re completely optional and don’t affect the core experience. More frustrating for me personally was that I couldn’t get my Logitech G920 wheel to function correctly, despite it working perfectly in WRC 5 and WRC 4. That meant playing the entire game on a gamepad—not a deal‑breaker, but definitely a disappointment for anyone who prefers a wheel setup. Even with those hiccups, WRC 6 stands as a confident step forward for the series. It’s more polished, more dynamic, and more engaging than its predecessor, offering a rally experience that feels both authentic and accessible. For fans of the sport or anyone who enjoyed WRC 5 but wanted a bit more refinement, this is a strong entry worth revisiting.
WRC 6 is a decent but slightly rough rally game. The stages are fun and give a good sense of speed, and the official cars/events are nice, but the handling can feel a bit floaty and inconsistent, especially if you’re used to more serious sims. Graphics and sound are okay for its age, just nothing amazing.
