I highly recommend this game, even at full price, and for one main reason: it offers a complete mobile gacha experience without the need to spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars in real money. There are many other reasons to love it as well, including the beautiful art style, great music, and a decent battle system. It's a solid game in its own right. But the experience of enjoying a gacha-like game without the actual gacha elements is truly special. I sincerely wish that other publishers would take a cue from this and adapt their shut-down mobile games into standalone offline experiences for PC. My deepest respect and gratitude go to BD for making this happen.

Foreword: I'm very happy to see Yggdra Refrain getting attention. Although I live in Europe and hadn't heard of the game before (since its English release was USA only), I think more gachas should be preserved in this way after End of Service. From an archival perspective, this is welcome, and I am curious to see how the game performs without its gacha element. Aesthetics: The story is hit or miss, nothing new or original, but it works. The main thing is the varied characters (many are common Japanese stereotypes). The game looks very good. It is similar to Epic Seven and Princess Connect. All characters are voiced. Functionality: The game had your run-of-the-mill gacha mechanics. They removed the stamina system and replaced it with a store where you buy tickets for auto-battles. They also removed rolling for characters, and now you just buy them from the store as well. The crystals are the only resource limited. After a while, the common means dry up, and I personally have not found a means around it except editing my savegame. Farming for pet element stones was a bit annoying, the only way you can get them outside of events was the labyrinth store, which to reset requires crystals... It did crash a few times, but the save was not corrupted, and after a relaunch, it worked fine. I also tried to use 600 tickets to auto-battle for me, and that crashed the game as well. Using 400 tickets, however, was OK, and no crash happened. The English translation was sometimes bad, but most of the time serviceable. The most annoying bug was right at the start. I could not name my account, so I pressed ESC and got auto-named “Guest.” Then, after the tutorial, I could rename my account to what I wanted. Enjoyment: The game was very fun, especially with character stories, leveling, and unlocking. The grind can feel daunting, but they provide a way around it. Conclusion: Yggdra Refrain is an interesting game; I do not regret buying it. For its price, with all the content (even if you skip the grind), you have in it, it's a steal. Other Notes: I had edited my save game and gave me resources, thus skipping most of the grind. The game has an anti-cheat, but there are ways you can circumvent it (check the Steam Guides section).

Its a "Buy 2 Play" gacha-like, looks like it was previously a gacha called Yggdra RE:Birth that went EOS so Im guessing the Devs decided to just sale it for $10 without all the nonsense you find in Gachas like "Energy/Stamina" though I wished they kept the Summoning (maybe it unlocks later??) so I could gamble without needing to spend $$$. To be honest $10 is a steal if you are like me and for some reason actually like the gameplay of gachas with all the nice grinding , seeing a whole team of 5 stars with different heroes and enjoy the overall gameplay loop gacha games provide but without the monetization. So far what little I played Im enjoying and dont regret my purchase. I am surprised on the amount of Characters( only female unfortunately) and Pets that are available, though Idk if pets are a stack stick only or actually can be used in fights. I wish more devs that EOS their gachas would just sell them instead, really enjoy Mega Man X Dive Offline and Solo Leveling Arise Overdrive also so hope more "buy 2 play" gachas are released.

70% of gacha games shut down within the first three years of their service. That is a lot of wasted talent and effort, with good art being lost for no good reason. Being able to buy gacha games like this is great, it allows the talent to live on. This is an ordinary gacha game, which surprisingly isn't a bad format when you remove all the p2w fomo practices. Unlocking new characters, playing with synergies, strengthening your favorites, etc, it's all decently fun when you don't have to pay unreasonable amounts for it.

I think being able to play an EoS gacha game as a one-time purchase is a rare experience. The gameplay is extremely simple and the balancing doesn't feel all that fleshed out as I guess there wasn't much effort put into thinking how it'd be possible to make the progression feel smooth; but despite that there is just this weird feeling of satisfaction of being able to enjoy a game like this without FOMO.
