9/10 game for me. I usually write stupid reviews, but I love this game and want to give my most honest opinion. (!!!!! My biggest recommendation would be: play it blind. Don't get spoilers on porpuse!) ------------------------------ POSITIVE PARTS: ------------------------------ I went into YOU and ME and HER: A Love Story expecting a fairly standard romance/visual novel, but it ended up being so much more than I expected. I've known about this game for years, but I've never played it myself. Without getting into spoilers, this is one of those games where the less you know before playing, the better. A huge part of what makes it work is the way it slowly changes your understanding of what kind of story you are actually experiencing. One of the biggest strengths for me is the storytelling. The game takes its time establishing the characters and their relationships before gradually introducing ideas that completely change the tone. What initially feels like a fairly normal dating-sim setup eventually becomes something much more psychological and emotionally intense. The transition is handled in a way that makes earlier scenes feel different once you understand more about what is happening. Just keep in mind that it's an erogore, although the Steam version is completely censored. However, you can add a patch to restore all explicit content. -The characters are another major highlight. Aoi and Miyuki aren't simply there to fill the roles of two romantic interests. They both have distinct personalities, motivations, insecurities, and emotional problems, and the game gives you plenty of time to become attached to them. That makes later events hit considerably harder because you aren't just watching things happen to fictional characters, you've spent hours getting to know them. -The art style is also really good. It has that recognizable visual novel aesthetic, but the character expressions and presentation do a great job of communicating the mood of different scenes. The game can look cute and innocent one moment and genuinely unsettling the next, and that contrast works extremely well with the story. -And then there is the soundtrack, which deserves a lot of praise. The music isn't just background noise, it contributes heavily to the atmosphere. Some tracks are incredibly beautiful and melancholic, while others make certain scenes much more uncomfortable or tense. I've seen a lot of players specifically mention the soundtrack as one of their favorite parts of the game, and I completely understand that. -What I particularly appreciate is how the game plays with the conventions of visual novels. It isn't simply trying to tell another romance story. It uses the expectations you have from playing a dating sim against you. The relationship between the player, the protagonist, the characters, and the game itself becomes part of the story. That makes it feel much more ambitious than its initial premise suggests. -Another thing I really like is that the game actually makes you think about your choices. A lot of visual novels give you choices that ultimately lead to slightly different versions of the same story. Here, the emotional consequences feel much more significant. Even when you know you're playing a game, you can still find yourself becoming emotionally invested in the decisions you're making. The game also has an unusual ability to make you feel uncomfortable, sad, happy, confused and nostalgic, sometimes within a relatively short period of time. -------------------- NEGATIVE PARTS: ----------------------------- !!!That said, I don't think it's perfect. The beginning can feel slow, especially if you're expecting something immediately dramatic. It has some amount repetition, and sometimes I feel that the game ultimately offers fewer genuinely branching routes than its presentation initially suggests. There are also elements of the story that won't work for everyone. Some of the later developments are deliberately uncomfortable and can be quite extreme. That's part of the point, but it means this definitely isn't a game I'd recommend to someone looking for a simple, wholesome romance visual novel, cause as I said, is an erogore But personally, I think that's also what makes it memorable. Isn't necessarily a game that everyone will love, but it's a game that is very difficult to forget. It takes a familiar genre, builds up your expectations, and then starts doing things you probably aren't expecting

I watched people play Doki Doki, and I bought this game on the reference that this was the inspiration for it. I loved watching Doki Doki, but I could never play it, since I already knew the ending. I did not know anything about this game other than the aforementioned fact, so I took the leap of faith and tried it. This visual novel is so good. I can't say anything about the game for fear of spoiling, but all I will say that if you are considering this game, take the leap like I did, you won't be disappointed. Also this game's soundtrack is one of my favorites!

The burden of choice is bestowed upon you. In video games, you have the luxury of saving and reloading if you want to pick different choices or avoid unfavorable outcomes. The life you live isn’t a video game. Your actions matter, and they affect others, even if you never stop to think about it.

ABSOLUTELY SPOILER-FREE REVIEW. Before I start my review, I just have to say, what an absolutely beautiful game. For people who went in here expecting something similar to DDLC like I did, please go in completely blind. I ruined the experience for myself a little bit when I refused to go in blind and spoiled a little bit of the plot for myself. At first, I did doubt this game because of the NSFW content I heard about (and due to it being developed by Nitroplus, I really didn't have high hopes), but I discovered that really wasn't in the game as much as I thought it was. This game will set your expectations a lot higher than DDLC. There are a few moments that really do make you cringe a little bit if you're not big into the "NSFW" sort of thing, and there are just really corny moments, but overall the game is just incredible. The art is absolutely stunning, but paired with the story, it's even better. If you are going to buy this game, do NOT read a guide until it is absolutely necessary or you are lost. You do not need a guide. Don't spoil anything for yourself! This game is seriously like no other. It was an emotional rollercoaster. It had me laughing at certain points, in shock at other points, and then to top it all off, I cried at the very end. The only downside to the game was that a few parts can get a little tedious and frustrating but other than that, I mean, wow. Seriously, it was mind-blowing. This will change your view on visual novels from when you start to play the game to when you finish it. I loved this game. I really did. It made me think once I finished it. However, just because it got me emotionally attached to the characters, no way does it mean is it worth $30. It is not worth that amount of money. Please get it on sale for 50% off or more. This is an absolute "must-play" if stories/visual novels are your type of game. This game gets you (quite literally) involved in the story and is nothing but art. Don't let people try to sway you into buying the patch from JAST's website. You don't need it. At all. This story is so meaningful without the porn people will try so hard to convince you to buy. The porn is not necessary to this story at all. Please, try this game before you form a negative opinion on it. It left me speechless in the best way possible. I highly recommend this game to anyone who is interested in it.
