What a charming little game! OK, so it's not BG3, but: - it's a tiny fraction of the price; - You don't have to spend a at least half your time talking to your followers about their problems, then spending yet more time solving their problems. Always assuming they don't flounce off in a huff because you offended them with an insensitive comment. It's a Kill, Loot & Level game, which is all I want as a casual gamer. I already have a life, thanks. A previous reviewer complained about the large amount of fairly random drops. They seem to have rather missed the point. If you want good kit, use the crafting system. So unlike (say) WoW, you don't have to spend 9 hours on a raid hoping that 'uber' item will drop. You can just craft far better items than the random drops. Also, inventory management is simple. Everything goes into a big (bottomless?) bag, and all characters have access to it. So again, little or no time wasted passing stuff around between followers or finding a merchant to sell to every 30 mins because your backpack is full. Obviously not perfect from such a small dev. team, but damn good value overall. -

It's really really good. one of the best designed crpgs I've played. Its all one big map, like it should be, and not 10000 different skyboxes you have to load into each one as new area, no, Story and side quest stories are great, along with good unbroken guidence. music is really good. etc etc I could go on. Con: It is turn-based, but they did it in such a way that it is actually pretty fluid and works decently well. So more of a neutral than a Con.

Genre - Fantasy Isometric CRPG I played the demo on release, and enjoyed the simplicity and progress speed of this RPG game. I remember the items seemed underwhelming though and automatic character positioning was a problem in some fights. However, they seem to have addressed both these concerns with the main release. I completed with 80% achievements after 40 hours, and only a bit of achievement hunting avoiding spoilers. The fights on Normal did become a bit too easy as you power up and equip your party in the later game. So maybe try it on hard if you want a challenge, The story was half decent and the way the chapters were split was well thought out. Run for survival, rebuild a settlement, get attacked, take the fight to them, identify the big bad and confront the big bad. You get loads of characters and the ability to send them on missions to collect resources and weapons, was quite basic but a nice addition. However, once you have identified your core party of 4, you are unlikely to change them much. I think I used 6 or 7 characters for any length of time. The game runs smooth, and although I got soft locked in a few locations, there was normally an easy fix. This is an indie game and you can tell they have put heart into it.

I played the game on launch for about 6.5 hours. I felt like it needed a little more time to cook so I set it down. I came back a year later with fresh eyes and feel the game is in a much better state. Kudos on that, Tiny Trinket. TL;DR You can definitely tell a lot of thought and care went into Zoria. It has a lot of heart and a lot to love but some immediate clunkiness that may turn you off from it initially. You really have to WANT to play it. The review may sound harsh but I overall enjoyed it. I would love to play another game by this team. Classes have some cool distinctions in terms of traits and spells. 9 base classes, 2 more added since launch, and 1 paid DLC class for a total of 12. Each class has 2 traits: Bonuses they can give while you’re resting and one other bonus they have out in the world or combat EX: A Thief can disarm traps in the world. They can remove poison effects from the party during a rest. The 3 non-base game classes have very little interaction with the game in terms of lore and their traits. Totally understandable why that is the way it is, but it's a shame nonetheless. Controls and menu are definitely the games biggest issues. These 2 things were the hardest part of starting this game for me. WASD movement + click to move + right click spins the camera. I think the WASD part makes it weird, usually Q + E spin the camera in those games. Probably could have been re-bound but we just went for the stock controls. Menus like the inventory and shop pages are a lot of visual noise. You get tons and tons of items that drop and sorting through them isn’t the easiest. Search bars and better filters would really help. Selling gear to a merchant doesn't remove the item from your inventory immediately, so you'll lose track of what you're selling. I suggest just hitting the SELL button often. Comparing gear isn’t super easy. I wish there was like a stat that would show what the overall change would be when you swap weapons or armor or something. Yes, all these numbers go up or down but what does that mean for my overall damage? Maybe some expansion onto the Weapon Stats section of the inventory. Really you'll just go with “does this new one have more green numbers? Ok cool.” Stats are weird since you’re in the 100's but when you level up you gain 5 points to spend. That number could probably be doubled but still not feel like enough compared to armor and weapons. Combat is fine. Not a lot to say about it. 2 action points(AP) per turn + certain amount of movement. Some abilities take 2 AP so you want to move into position first since it ends your turn as soon as you use both AP. I found out in the final battle that you can use as many consumables per turn that you want. Health low? Drink 17 potions and still do your entire turn. Story escalates from an invading army using forbidden magic to something I don’t really care for. I liked where it started but there’s definitely some themes I personally like to avoid in fantasy games. Writing isn’t too bad. Some typos or voiceover inconsistencies, but nothing glaring. The Keep system is kinda cool. You set some stuff up and it takes real time to build and real time to do the follower missions. Nice little HUB area that lets you recruit the 50+ followers in the game. If you played with the World of Warcraft Garrisons, you already have a good idea. 6/10. I may do another playthrough to try out the other classes.

I feel like i had way more than 14 hours in this game, not sure if that is only after getting out of early access. Anyways when i first played this game it was right after playing Baldur's Gate 3, so my hope was high but expectations were low. This game has greatly exceeded what I expected, especially after reading its a 3 person team developing it. So far have loved the feel of the different classes and as a fan of turn based combat have loved the combat system as a whole. One thing I was hoping though was more freedom in customizing and building your base. As of today, March 21, am returning to the game after a few updates some hopefully there has been some expansion om that front. Ultimately I highly recommend to any fans of turn based/ tactical combat, especially if fans of fantasy.
