A good Bullet Heaven game where you try to stay alive for around 20 minutes, hence the title ;). It has some meta progression and no missable achievements. Completion takes around 25 hours. Approximate time to 100%: Around 25 hours Estimated achievement difficulty: 6/10 Minimum number of playthroughs needed: You play it multiple times Is there a good guide available: You don't need a guide Multiplayer achievements: No Missable achievements: No Grinding Achievements: No DLC-Only achievements: No Speedrun achievements: No Time-gated achievements: No RNG-achievements: No Does difficulty affect achievements: Yes, there are many achievements for the highest difficulty Unobtainable/glitched achievements: No Gamepad or mouse and keyboard: I played this with a gamepad 20 Minutes Till Dawn is a Bullet Heaven, like Vampire Survivor. However, there are some differences. The primary weapon is one that you shoot, so it's not automatic. However, if you go for skills during a run with summons, they will auto-attack. This was my preferred build overall. Additionally, the time of a run differs, with 20-minute runs instead of 30-minute runs. And you don't get killed at the end of a run, but you just have to kill the last boss to win a run. One thing I really missed was an upgrade/bonus to collect all the experience on the ground. There are abilities to collect it a bit easier, but not a special thing to collect it all. 20 Minutes Till Dawn has three maps in total and 15 difficulty levels. The first map has way easier enemies than the second and third. So, I went for difficulty 15 on that first map. You have to complete the other two maps at least once to unlock two new characters. Other new weapons and characters are bought with money that you receive after a run. This is also the currency for the skill tree. The game doesn't have complete controller support, as with a controller, you can't see the other skills that unlock when choosing a skill during your run. You also can't check the skills you already have without using your mouse. The first thing I missed the most, as quite an important part, is choosing which skill sets to add to your build. When you add a skill, there will be added two more skills from that same set will be added to the possible options that come up when you level. This can matter as you'll only have a select few of them—still quite a lot, but not everything. I would like it if it was possible to check out the upcoming skills and already acquired skills using a gamepad. For the achievements, you mostly have to win a run with every weapon and every character on the highest difficulty. My preferred character to get to the highest difficulty was Dasher, as her ability to run through enemies and kill them was such a lifesaver. During this phase, I also used the currency to unlock skills in the skills tree. After getting one spell in each rank, I used my money to unlock characters and weapons. After winning on the highest difficulty with Dasher, I did that first map a bunch more times with each character and switching up the guns as well. That way, I would always unlock a weapon and a character achievement if I won that run. After a while, it became a bit boring seeing the same enemies repeatedly, but the other maps were significantly more challenging. I'm glad that 20 Minutes Till Dawn is much shorter than Vampire Survivor, so it always felt like unlocking all the achievements was around the corner. I give 20 Minutes Till Dawn 3.5 out of 5 stars. A decent bullet hell game. Not as dense as Vampire Survivors. Solid, worth a shot. Decent completion. Forces you to play through each character. 7.0/10

Fun game but where are the updates?? and where is Ember Path? It has been a year since the announcement trailer and still no signs of it ever releasing soon. Hope the developer is still working on it. But even without the updates this game is still fun to play if you're looking to kill some time

Critical review alert: I was addicted to the game like other survivors games, until darkness 15. I am not joking. "Boss attacks more frequent" is a real challange, but the forest map minute 15 boss becomes something else when this happens, and no matter what I do, I cannot pass darkness 15 other than max hp/dodge/shield build. It is not fun difficult, it is "I have had enough of this game" difficult. And I feel like I am not gonna play anymore. That dashing boss mechanism does not suit with your slower movespeed when shooting mechanism... I really wanted to get all achievements before leaving the game but it is not worth it as it is. I even got the pacifist one, but cannot do darkness 15 with most heroes. Maybe change minute 15 boss with min 10 boss at least? I still recommend getting the game but forget getting all the achievements, you can try some fun builds on lower difficulties or endless mode, and when you are bored you can just consider the game finished.

After completing this game 100% Summary: A simple, chill game to turn your brain off with as you effortlessly evaporate thousands of monsters. If you're a casual player it's definitely worth playing but if you're looking to 100% be prepared for a grind Overall rating: 3/5 ✅ I liked: [*] The visuals. This game has a pretty aesthetic that makes it nice to look at as you walk around killing everything you get close to. Once you hit late game your screen will turn into a complete mess with thousands of enemies surrounding you while your OP weapons mow them down. I for one thought this was satisfying to watch but I've seen others say it's too much, so definitely something to consider if you don't like visual clutter. [*] How casual it is. There is no story to follow or strong sense of immersion getting pushed onto you. Each run is only 20 mins so you can just boot up a quick run or play for hours, whatever you feel like/have time for. [*] The progression of unlocking things. Each level gets slightly harder but not so much that it feels like the game is against you. It's also very generous with points so you are able to unlock all characters/weapons early and experiment as much as you want. ❌ I didn't like: [*] The balance between weapons/characters. I had to complete the max level of darkness with every character and weapon. Some felt super strong, some were easy to sit back and autopilot with, but some just felt lacklustre either by requiring too much effort for not enough reward (water gun) or were just weak in general. [*] The impact of runes. I spent a decent amount of time cooking up different builds but there were only a few that really felt like they made a difference to my gameplay, so I ended up just sticking with the same build for majority of the playtime. [*] The "spread" of achievements. If you have a look through them, a lot of them are tied to just completing Darkness 15 with every character/weapon which can be alright for encouraging people to try everything in the game, but locking them all to the very end of the game ends up making it feel super grindy. I wish there was more interesting ones like Pacifist & Reckless.
