Honestly, I almost skipped Above Snakes because of some really negative reviews. Glad I didn’t. After actually playing, I can say it’s nothing like I feared: no bugs, no crashes, just smooth gameplay. This isn’t some stressful combat-heavy survival game—it’s a slow-paced, cozy experience. You gather, you build, you explore at your own pace. No rush, no pressure, no “die-or-restart” frustration. Just… peaceful progression. The best part? Time just melts away. One moment you’re chopping wood, the next you realize hours have passed. If you enjoy games where you can relax, collect resources, and watch your little world grow—this is absolutely worth trying.

Usually, I prefer a seemless world and first-person camera. So I'm surprised how much I enjoy this game mechanic with the puzzle pieces. It's something I haven't seen before. Other than that it is a very chill game (easy enemies in story mode) with a bit of creative freedom when it comes to shaping the world around oneself.

It's a unique, relaxing game to play if you don't feel like playing anything difficult or serious. as this game lacks any challenge. Good to play if you just want to relax. You gather, craft and make map pieces and there is not much else to it as story and quests are very basic and forgettable and combat is terrible. I dislike the q and e buttons being used to turn the camera. Using the mouse to move the camera would be much better. Movement overall is not good. It fulfills my need of progression in a game, but not a lot else. The game was ok to play not very good though 6/10

Above Snakes is a fun little open world sandbox survival game, with the unique twist being the tile-based world generation. It’s easy to figure out, and good in short bursts. The early game is great. The tile-based concept is satisfying, and the progression of exploring, crafting, and unlocking tiles feels rewarding. Mid-game, though, things start to feel a bit stale. The early food options stay the best all the way through. Resource gathering becomes a chore, having to run to other sides of the map. The crafting and base-building are fine. Not too complicated or annoying, forgiving inventory system, but nothing to write home about either. Thew story/writing are... really bad (possibly even a bit problematic?). The story surrounds Native American culture, but is kinda lazy and tone deaf. 100% in 16.8 hours.
