I want to Clear up the old negative reviews – solid niche sandbox if you know what you’re getting into. I've been playing on and off since this game came out and own 5 accounts, and the latest one thru Steam. Don't let the ancient 2015 reviews scare you off. A lot of the biggest complaints on here are completely outdated: No hidden monthly fee: The mandatory $15/month subscription model is gone. You buy it once on Steam, and you get the full game without skill caps or hidden paywalls. Crafting & UI fixes: Crafting has been streamlined over the years with auto-selecting materials thru your craft window, so you're not wrestling with menus as much. That said, this is still a true old-school sandbox (think Wurm Online vibes). The grind is very real, and gathering/crafting takes genuine time. The server pop is tiny, but the core community that stays is super friendly and willing to help. Graphics and combat are dated, but the terraforming and player-driven world mechanics are awesome if you love slow-burn survival games. If you want a fast-paced modern action game, pass on this. But if you're looking for a chill, unguided sandbox where you can build a settlement from absolute scratch, it's definitely worth picking up!
