This game might look like a fetish title at first glance, but it’s actually a surprisingly solid puzzle adventure with more depth than you’d expect! The story may be small in scale, but it’s more engaging and emotional than previous eTIRUe releases, even throwing in a somber ending that actually sticks with you! There’s a bit of lore to uncover through notes, and if you’ve played Dark Siren, you’ll catch a nice reference toward the end! Gameplay-wise, it leans heavily on puzzles—smart enough to make you think without being rage-inducing! You’ll be searching for items, combining them, and solving environmental challenges, and yeah… occasionally doing some math, so keep a calculator handy if numbers aren’t your thing! There’s barely any combat outside of a short section later in the game, but honestly, it didn’t bother me since the pacing stayed tight and interesting! As for the “adult content” tag, don’t expect anything wild! There are a handful of short animations, a few suggestive outfits, and some tame fanservice, but absolutely nothing explicit (but lots of feet if that's your thing)! You could probably play this with someone in the room and not feel too weird about it! It’s more of a creepy/sexy aesthetic than anything truly NSFW! Overall, it’s one of eTIRUe’s strongest games so far and shows they’re evolving past just “sexy character” bait and into actually good game design! Definitely worth picking up imo!

Abyss School, developed and published by eTIRUe, is a darkly imaginative and surreal indie adventure that combines elements of horror, puzzle-solving, and visual novel storytelling into a single, haunting experience. Set within the eerie halls of a submerged high school, the game follows Yuhee, an ordinary student who unwittingly becomes trapped in an underwater nightmare after a mysterious event transports her world into the abyss. The premise itself is steeped in psychological and supernatural intrigue, balancing the familiar setting of youth and innocence against the unnatural quiet of an aquatic graveyard. This juxtaposition gives Abyss School its unique emotional texture, as it invites players to explore a distorted reflection of school life now consumed by horror, loss, and temptation. At its core, Abyss School functions as a hybrid of exploration and hidden-object puzzles, woven together with light survival-horror mechanics. The player navigates through dimly lit corridors and flooded classrooms while avoiding the grotesque “Abyss Followers,” creatures that stalk the protagonist through the dark. The game’s design leans heavily on tension and atmosphere rather than jump scares, with a focus on uncovering the mystery behind the disaster that submerged the school. Each area presents a new puzzle or environmental challenge, from deciphering symbols to activating mechanisms that open blocked paths. As players progress, they uncover fragmented pieces of Yuhee’s memories and clues about the abyssal curse that has taken hold of her surroundings. These elements create a sense of mystery that grows more suffocating with each discovery, maintaining a delicate balance between curiosity and fear. Abyss School also carries eTIRUe’s distinctive visual and thematic fingerprints. The developer’s previous works are known for their combination of erotic undertones and macabre world-building, and that contrast is once again present here. The art direction is carefully stylized, blending anime-inspired character designs with unsettling imagery of decay, blood, and aquatic darkness. The world feels both dreamlike and oppressive, filled with small details that reward exploration. While the mature content tags might suggest something overtly explicit, the game’s sensuality often functions more as a psychological motif than gratuitous fanservice—an embodiment of vulnerability in the face of the unknown. This balance between desire and dread reinforces the game’s unsettling tone, reminding players that the abyss is as much within the human psyche as it is beneath the waves. What stands out most about Abyss School is its atmosphere. The sound design, though minimalist, amplifies every creak, drip, and faint echo of movement within the school’s hollow corridors. Without the presence of voice acting, the silence itself becomes part of the storytelling, compelling players to interpret the unease through ambient cues and written dialogue. The lack of traditional narration helps maintain the isolation that defines the game’s emotional landscape. The music is sparse but effective, shifting between melancholic piano melodies and ambient droning tones that deepen the feeling of pressure and depth. Every part of the presentation reinforces the sensation of being lost underwater, where light struggles to reach and time feels distorted. However, Abyss School’s strengths are tempered by the limitations inherent to a small independent production. The controls and animations are functional but lack refinement, sometimes making movement feel stiff or transitions abrupt. Some puzzles can be obtuse, relying on trial and error more than logic, which can frustrate players seeking smooth progression. The game’s runtime is relatively short—most players can finish it within several hours—which leaves certain plot points and character threads underdeveloped. These issues do not break the experience, but they do highlight the constraints of its scope. Yet within those boundaries, Abyss School manages to achieve something rare: it feels deeply personal and cohesive, as though every imperfection is part of the dreamlike dissonance that defines it. Player reception has been largely positive, with many praising the haunting concept and the visual artistry that carries it. Those who appreciate indie horror have noted its distinct tone, somewhere between melancholic beauty and quiet terror. Others, however, find its erotic nuances distracting or its brevity disappointing. Still, it is precisely this ambiguity that gives the game its power. Abyss School resists easy categorization—it is neither pure horror nor purely sensual fantasy, but something stranger, a reflection of how memory, desire, and fear intertwine when submerged in the subconscious. It is a work that speaks through suggestion and atmosphere more than spectacle, and for players who enter with patience and curiosity, it offers a memorable descent into an otherworldly dream of dread and discovery. In the end, Abyss School is not a game for everyone, but it does not attempt to be. Its focus on mood, symbolism, and emotional unease gives it a character distinct from more conventional horror titles. It may be short and rough around the edges, but it lingers long after completion, like the echo of a forgotten bell ringing deep beneath the sea. eTIRUe has crafted an experience that feels intimate and eerie, both unsettling and strangely beautiful—a story about confronting the abyss within and finding fragile meaning in the darkness. I have played a couple of eTIRUe games now, including Crawling Lab and Ruined Nurse. This one plays very much like those ones and it looks like very similar assets (no pun intended) were used. I have actually enjoyed this one - the puzzles are not overly taxing and the zombies can be avoided with a little thought and planning. The character, Yuhee, is quite cute, and while there are some animations that could be classed as voyeuristic, the game (so far) is pretty harmless. The cheap price is probably worth it if you are looking for around 4-6 hours of gameplay depending on how quick you work the puzzles out. TL;DR: A survival horror puzzle game that kind of feels like you're playing a level out of the backrooms. Not really a horror game but more like surreal experience. PROS: - Very good price for the amount of hours playtime - Beautiful characters - About 5 hours to complete or 8 hours for 100% - Good puzzles (Nothing too difficult) - Kind of feels like a level out of the backrooms - A few clothes options for both characters - Achievements / trading cards - Nice little story - Small minigames / extra story after the main story NEUTRAL: - Could do with more customisation like Dark siren had. Body sliders, clothes, hair, etc - Most of the clothes options you can only get after completing the main story. The rest are from the extra stories. CONS: - Same as the other eTIRUe titles, It drops fps in some levels / areas. I'm almost certain that they load the whole level in with no mid to low poly models / low resolution textures and don't cull anything not visible to the player for the whole level. Nothing too bad tho. (I run full screen at 120fps near max settings) Fun little game. 7.5 / 10
