Fatal Frame V: Maiden of Black Water brings this classic Japanese horror into the modern era, focusing on a damp, dark, and melancholic atmosphere. This is what attracted me to this franchise, as it relates to J-Horror genres (such as The Ring, Ju-On, Sadako, and Teketeke). The unique Camera Obscura mechanic, with responsive controls, provides a unique experience in maintaining distance from approaching entities. The LB-RB mechanic also provides a satisfying fatal shot position. Furthermore, the Overwhelming Atmosphere Mount Hikami feels very alive with eeriness. The "wet" effect on characters isn't just visual; the Wetness Gauge mechanic makes them more vulnerable to ghost attacks but also increases their attack power. It's an interesting "risk-versus-reward" element. The emotional story is also a plus, splitting the story between several protagonists: Ren Hojo, Miu Hinasaki, and Yuri Kozukata, with a narrative that focuses on trauma, sacrifice, and ancient rituals. Again, the downsides are not far from the character movement, which can sometimes feel a bit clunky, typical of classic horror games. And of course, the repetition. Some locations are visited multiple times by different characters, which may feel a bit repetitive for me personally, and certainly for some people. Hopefully, Koei Tecmo will continue to develop this franchise with new series or remakes in the future, as they did this year with the release of Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly last March 💯

Got all the Fatal Frame games so far and I still can't play horror games. Still a good Fatal Frame game and you got to support them to make more Fatal Frame 10/10 Would Fatal Frame again.

Quick thoughts: the vibes: literally so depressing but in a beautiful way? everything is wet and dark and i’m obsessed with the atmosphere. it’s giving major j-horror brainrot. the combat: honestly? firing a camera at a ghost’s face is satisfying af. it’s way more fun than it has any right to be, even if i'm lowkey screaming half the time. 💀 the controls: okay, the movement is a bit clunky. the girls move like they’re walking through literal soup, but i guess i would too if i was being chased by a tall lady with a box. the "fanservice": we all know why the water physics are like that... it’s a bit much sometimes, but the outfits are still a serve. final thoughts: if you like ghost stories and don't mind feeling unsettled for 15 hours, just get it. it’s not perfect and the story gets weirdly dark, but the aesthetic is 10/10. tl;dr: i’m scared of rain now. worth it though. 📸👻✨

If you're trying to play this game on keyboard and the games keeps stuttering it's a bug that your game is trying to find an input of a controller. Put a controller on and it will be fixed by itself.

slow ass cutscene EVERY SINGLE TIME you open a door but you can take pictures of ghosts feet so 10/10 would recommend
