Aer: Memories of Old is one of those rare games that feels less like a traditional adventure and more like stepping into a quiet, living storybook. It offers a world that’s gentle, dreamlike, and filled with a sense of peaceful exploration that very few games manage to capture so naturally. The game’s biggest strength is the freedom of flight. Transforming into a bird and soaring between floating islands feels wonderfully fluid—effortless, even. The controls are smooth, the sense of scale is satisfying, and the sky always seems just open enough that you want to wander a little longer before landing. It’s a simple mechanic, but it’s executed with such care that it becomes the emotional heart of the experience. The world itself is minimalist but beautifully crafted. Soft colors, stylized shapes, and quiet ruins create an atmosphere that balances serenity with a subtle melancholy. It never overwhelms you with noise or clutter; instead, it invites you to slow down, look around, and absorb the history left behind. The puzzles fit that philosophy—light, gentle challenges that encourage exploration without ever becoming frustrating. Narratively, the game tells its story with restraint. You uncover bits of lore through old temples, murals, and conversations with spirit-like beings. It’s not a complicated plot, but it has a reflective quality that makes the world feel ancient and a little sacred. If you enjoy games that let you piece things together at your own pace, you’ll appreciate the approach here. Aer isn’t long, and some players may wish it had more complexity or a bit more to do. But its brevity works in its favor—it feels like a calm breath taken between louder, heavier games. It’s meditative, atmospheric, and memorable in a way that sticks with you long after you glide through the last temple. If you enjoy peaceful exploration, artful worldbuilding, and games that value mood over combat or intensity, Aer: Memories of Old is absolutely worth your time. It’s a small but beautifully crafted experience that invites you to simply be in its world—and that alone makes it special.

AER: Memories of Old is a chill adventure-exploration game that reminded me of OMNO, with a bit of a Journey vibe as well. You’ll spend a good amount of time navigating temples and caverns, but outside of that, you’re free to fly through the clouds and explore the floating islands at your own pace. I also thought the soundtrack was pretty serene, especially at the end of each temple. It was actually quite nice. What I didn’t expect though, were the loading times. They’re not exactly long, but it kind of felt like I was playing a PS1 game again. 😁 Overall, I enjoyed the casual experience. It's perfect if you're looking for something calm and low stress.

I first played this game on my Nintendo Switch a few years ago, and I think this is now my fifth or sixth playthrough. This game is amazing. Apart from the beautiful graphics and touching story, it has, in my opinion, the best flying mechanic of any game out there. I’ve never played another game where it felt so good to just fly around. I have so many memories of listening to audiobooks while flying and puzzling—It’s truly a part of my childhood. Thank you.

A wonderful exploration game without combat with an art style reminiscent of Journey/Abzu. It took me roughly 3 hours to 100% complete the game, I would suggest to get it on a deep discount. The game is made by Forgotten Key, but it should be called forgotten end! The game builds up this whole big bad void thing up only to do a white fakeout scene in the end.

Very much worth your time when its on sale (bought mine at 90% discount). The lack of running can get grating but the flight controls are superb. Also fun, fast, and easy to 100% achievements.
