Fox, Dungeons and two Glowing Runes Key features [*]a much bigger sequel, [*]Interesting runes aka builds, [*]You can drown the fox and run underwater! It needs to be smaller. I acknowledge that this might be a (stupid) personal complain. Look at my play time - it's mostly from running between points of interests. You just spend so much time on running from one ruins to another (often empty), where then you smash pots and collect in-game currency or solve a tiny puzzle (placing weights on ground), and then run off. Turtle DLC helps with that - it adds more fast travel points, so consider getting it. However. The way all those regions flawlessly change from one into another is awesome. It's not like a sudden change green forest/snow border. It's very smooth and partially excuses the map scale. There are also a few weather events going on - crystal meteorite shower, mushroom turtle, racoons and wisps chase. And if you dare to swim in the sea... well, watch out! Dungeons! I loved the underground dungeons. Run with torch, dodge thorns, climb them cliffs (pain if you lose a torch!), all of these efforts to reach a chest with a skill point or a new fur. There's also runes (local gear) to discover. One allows to run underwater (my favourite), another turns you into a light, so you can explore w/o jeopardizing yourself, 3rd will give a flight boost and so on. Each had individual pattern, each granted a specific power and each happened in a new region, kinda forcing you to explore that area and stock up on experience before entering the fight dome. Dodge, dodge, attack. Run, run... run again, attack. Spirit of the North (SOTN) 1 was definitely an interesting game to play, it balanced puzzle games nicely while adding some lore. It was definitely a fun game to play. SOTN 2 though? Wow. It is amazing to see such a genuinely fun and even emotional game these days, and people, don't let the indie game look fool you, this game has so much to it I swear it's actually a AA game and I honestly wouldn't question it if someone said this was a AAA game. While I won't spoil the story for anyone, it is definitely an interesting one to follow throughout the game and I cannot understate how good of a job the devs did at making the story fun to follow while not cramming it down your throats that it becomes annoying. I cannot understate just how good this game is. And of course, don't forget the cute foxes! I highly recommend playing SOTN 1 first, however I would say SOTN 2 is not reliant on you playing the first game at all. I will warn you, this is a graphically intense game, while it didn't bring my 7900XTX to it's knees it did struggle even with AMD Fluid Motion Frames enabled. That being said, as with most Unreal Engine games, it looks stunning and I am definitely replaying this when I get my hands on a not 1080p monitor lol. Additionally, while yes I did notice a very small handful of bugs or missing / broken textures, they did not affect gameplay whatsoever and considering the scale of the QA team did a really good job. Thank you Infuse Studio for making this game as good as it is, the level of quality and detail in SOTN 2 is rare in games nowerdays. You not only pulled it off perfectly but went above and beyond with this project, it's also nice to see a "smaller" game like this working with and donating to SaveAFox and even creating free seasonal events like the recent Christmas event!
