I read through some of the negative reviews, but bought this game anyway and I'm glad I did. It does force you through a short tutorial first, but it's pretty good. And after beating a regular campaign map, you CAN continue playing the same settlement instead of resetting. There's a button in the lower-left that gives you the option, but I guess some folks are overlooking it. I've only beaten the first map so far (and then kept going with the same civ), but it looks like you need to reach a certain number of "goals" within a certain amount of time (otherwise your Authority decays which can lead to people leaving). The missions were just basic things like build a well, reach a certain population, etc. that you'll already be doing anyway. After reaching all the goals, that's when you get the option to go to the next map or keep playing. And if you keep playing you're no longer under a time constraint to reach any goals. (I should mention that I've already reached max population and tech caps, but that may just be an EA thing or a Map #1 thing.) I did find the UI a little bit unintuitive at first, but so far it's mainly been due to my expectations being mistaken. E.g. I was expecting to be able to choose which region to build a lumbermill, orchard, etc. but the game actually does that for you. Overall I think a good case could be made that it feels like it's still in EA, but I think they have another great game in the making.

Ok so im TORN yet again on this game as i am many others. Do I like the game YES very much, the graphics are OK for what it is, but after a bit it gets TEDIOUS, nothing really changes in any of the campaigns you do the same things over and over and over again, i was able to figure out how to get ahead and not worry about ambushes fairly quickly on even with the game being on AI. That said there are hours of playtime available on this it does need a little more love but im still going to recommend.

I am nominating this wonderful game for the Sit Back and Relax award. Why? A ZOMBIE SURVIVAL GAME!? Sure! Here is why! The music is very calm and relaxing. If you make errors you can easily reset and try again! Difficulty options! For me those are three big things that make a game easy to play just to relax after a hard work day! There is a demo! You can try the game for free! Getting nice updates regularly too! I highly recommend this game to all of you that love simple city building games and zombies! Give it a try!!

Have done all current 3 campaigns and few extra expeditions, and.. Well, I really enjoy it, it feels like a very simple strategy game, after getting past the mobile-esque things. That being said, a lot of it is simply very repetitive. the third campaign brings one(?) new element to it but it doesn't make much of it. Being a casual RTS player, normal difficulty was a breeze for most part. I'd like to see a lot more story elements to this between chapters and maps to make it all more connected. However, as barebones as this is with it's simplicity, I look forward to getting more of this.

The core loop is there of starting a colony, exploring, resource management, fighting zombies. Its done well as usual by Ndemic. Its just not rewarding or interesting. All the maps and colonies feel the same. There isn't any attachment to my colony or peoples. In current state it is more of a casual mobile clicker and I can't stress this enough a VERY LIGHT Colony Sim. I don't know why there is a City Builder tag, there's no city building. I had fun playing it, but nothing is drawing me back to play more during early access. Good quality but very shallow.
