Age of Mythology was one of the first strategy games I ever played, and honestly, one of the first games I played in general. Coming back to it in Retold feels like a huge wave of nostalgia. The best part is that this isn't just a simple remaster. The game looks better than ever while still keeping the charm that made the original so memorable. Seeing the myths, gods, mythical creatures, and civilizations brought to life with modern visuals has been a lot of fun. I also appreciate that the developers have continued to support the game with updates, adding new civilizations, gods, and content instead of simply relying on nostalgia alone. For longtime fans, it's a great way to revisit a classic. For new players, it's still one of the most unique RTS games out there, blending mythology and strategy in a way that few games have managed to replicate. A nostalgic trip done right.
Is pretty good! lots of fun pantheons selling blood packs seperately in some gimmicky special pass or whatever whomever calls it just so you can have this product rated lower so your audience is slightly larger(potentially) to then sell it as a seperate product to try & potentially make yourselves a lil bit more money is pretty crappo. could have it as an optional free thing and still would have made more money, especially when it is a pretty low effort edition, one effect, one texture kind of simple but at least the game itself has some SOLID effort put in, so dats nice
I bought it for the nostalgia, i keep playing because its better than most of the games being released now days. Single player and multiplayer are what it was and still peak. However what seals the deal for me now is the co-op single player arena of the gods. Its all peak.
If you grew up with Age of Mythology, Age of Mythology: Retold feels like a love letter that actually sticks the landing. The visuals are gorgeous, the mythology atmosphere is nailed, and the whole package feels modern without losing what made the original special. What surprised me most is how complete it feels. The campaign/story content is still a blast, the DLC support adds real value, and the game balance is in a really healthy spot—matches stay fun, builds feel viable, and it never devolves into “use one broken strat or lose.” It’s the kind of RTS you boot up for “one match” and suddenly it’s 2 a.m. I’ve put nearly 200 hours into it and I’m still enjoying it. That’s the best endorsement I can give: this isn’t just nostalgia—it’s a genuinely great RTS. Worth full price. Highly recommended.
