Pros - 3 games in one, Apollo Justice, Dual Destinies, & Spirit of Justice + all DLC content from the games included. - The new section they added in Dual Destinies & Spirit of Justice where you revisualize the facts of the case to make your grand arguments feels so awesome to go through, much better than the original trilogy where you would more or less have to present your argument on the fly and hope you were on the same track as the game. Cons - consult feature requires 2 failed presents to prompt you. I wish there was an option to just freely consult when feeling stuck instead of guessing for 2 attempts when you aren't sure what the game is trying to point you at. not only that but it just repeats the same advice even if you keep going in the wrong direction. - you can't typically put this game down once you start a case otherwise you'll tend to forget specific details the game expects you to remember, and these details aren't the court record. ex. "requirements for spirit channeling" it's not in the court record so if you forgot it, tough luck look up a guide or blindly guess. - the "game over" sequence feels annoying/pointless/frustrating because there isn't any real stakes or ending to the case if you lose. the judge spits out the usual thing of your client is guilty, the doors shut, and you "game over" where you can just retry the scene again. Conclusion -Up until I got to Spirit of Justice I was enjoying this trilogy more than the original! The amount of cons mainly stems from wanting to keep playing but not dedicating time to play all the way through a case in one sitting which make the experience much smoother I wish the consult system was a bit more helpful to unstick players who are having trouble getting on the same line as the game cause you feel incredibly brilliant when you are thinking the same way and incredibly frustrated when you are presenting things out of sync with the game... After getting through the last base game SoJ case though, I will say, I really like where they took Apollo's character! I didn't really have a desire to play anything without Phoenix Wright in the game but after playing Dual Destinies on the 3DS I decided to pick up the Apollo Justice Trilogy and I'm really glad I did! I'm looking forward to a future game where they continue this story!

My favorite part was when Apollo Justice went "I am the ace attorney" and got his client a guilty verdict

Fun but flawed. You'll still get the Ace Attorney experience and enjoy it, but it never quite reach the height it did in the first trilogy for me, and the low point was at its lowest here. If you play for the solving case part, you might be a bit disappointed because it's pretty much a mixed bag. It was at its worst at Dual Destinies (the second game in this trilogy). If you play for the story, it never really come together as good as it did Trials and Tribulations, but not outright terrible. Fun cast and great OSTs though. The museum is a nice touch too. Cases range from incredibly boring to engrossing throughout. The story has some hype moments, but when it falls off it falls deep. The cast in most cases are a fun bunch (I personally love Spirit of Justice's cast). I love the 2D art, and while the 3D animation is a bit weird, they are also very fun to look at, and the design isn't worse. The OSTs are mostly amazing. 2 new techniques (like Psyche-locks) and 1 new court system (in SoJ) introduced, and I enjoyed it for the most part, albeit it being way too convenient at times. The trilogy mainly suffers from insane level of hand holding (Dual Destinies), stupid amount of flashback of things that happened 5 minutes ago or less (Dual Destinies, Spirit of Justice), severely underused plot point/theme (Dual Destinies mainly, Spirit of Justice to an extent). 3 games feel disconnected, main reason probably being that Dual Destinies was made to be an entry point for new players. Therefore no spoilers from older games is contained in it, which means any plot from Apollo Justice (the first game in the trilogy) was pretty much left untouched. Also while it has "Apollo Justice" and "Trilogy" in the title, to me it feel more like a duology for him. We get 3 protagonists. Unfortunately, this hurts Apollo's story. Dual Destinies feel like Athena's game more than Apollo's. While there is a plot point which seems crucial to Apollo, it was so surface level that it didn't even need to be there. Spirit of Justice fixed that but at the cost of making his story in Dual Destinies even less significant.

Since no one ever seems to want to acknowledge it: These are MURDER MYSTERY games. Yes, they're visual novels. Yes, they're a linear story. Nonetheless, you are playing actual games. You aren't just sitting through a story as it plays out, you are being challenge and participating in the experience. and there is no feeling better than solving the murder before the game has revealed everything, watching as every new piece of information confirms your suspicions, and responding to every question with the perfect answer.
