Very short game, but very fun to play. Simple in concept, controls, abilities, etc. which provides smooth gameplay. The art style is pretty and colours are vibrant which makes for an overall pretty game. Sound design is spot on, combat is simple but effective and the story is entertaining. The dialogues felt a bit rudimentary and could drag on for a bit too long at certain times, but overall the writing is okay. Playing with a DualSense controller is annoying though since the wrong symbols show up for the button inputs. At its current price, I expected it to be slightly longer, but it's a decent experience if you can get it on sale.
I'm having mixed feelings on this. I enjoyed my time with the game, I think the worldbuilding shows potential and the artwork is nicely done. However, for this price... It's kinda barren, isn't it? I beat the game in barely 5 hours, and that is with me being thorough, some of the game time including cutscenes, and time with me being AFK while the game was still running. The game feels undercooked, as if something's missing. The game feels a bit as if someone pulled out a single area or subplot from a larger RPG- say Under the Island or Eastward- expanded a bit on it, and turned it into a full RPG. This is apparent in the gameplay: - Most of your time is spent in rather generic-looking woods and caves (which nonetheless still look good). - Exploration is quite bare-bones. The game is mainly linear. Most collectibles- of which there are few- are easily found without going off the main path. Those that aren't, often merely require a brief detour. - There were not really any puzzles to speak of. I think the brevity also hurt the story itself. It felt like the worldbuilding never really got a chance to "settle". We're introduced to new concepts and races that don't quite get the time to really "shine", so to say. For example, early on we meet a merchant spirit character. This merchant hands us a single key item and... That's kind of his role? You only return to him to give some collectible items. All in all, I'd still recommend this because I had fun with it and I've had far worse experiences with games that I'd rate "mixed". Still, I recommend getting this on a sale.
Short and sweet top-down action adventure. The controls are adequate and the game is a little on the easier side on normal difficulty. The actual gameplay is a bit repetitive, you'll end up fighting a lot of the same enemies in mostly large spacey areas with little tactical depth. But the animations and the storytelling are excellent. Story itself is rather simple, but effective. You will get attached to the characters in a short time. Get it on sale and you will have yourself some entertaining three to five hours with this game.
It's decent short story game. I wouldn't call this a zelda-like, it doesn't have any puzzles, only 2 sidequests which are just to pick up things along the story path, your only tools are a sword and a barrier, so overall this game is extremely simple and the only commonality with zelda is it's top down and you swing a sword. Overall the game is fun, my only main gripe is I felt there was too much running around getting attacked by mobs there's no point in killing (genuinely this is probably padding to make sure you don't finish within 2 hours and refund).
It's a pretty good game made by a small team. The combat is engaging and not too easy (I played on normal difficulty), the world itself is fairly big. Overall, it's a good game, but there's still room for polish and even room for the game itself to grow, should the team ever want to revisit and expand it. Once thing that tripped me up a couple times was the hitbox of my weapon, which is fairly small, so i attack an enemy, but it's JUST out of reach, which can be super annoying. Other than just making the hitbox bigger, an interesting way to solve this would be the option of a ranged weapon. The characters are interesting, and none of them feel just shoved in there for the sake of it. One thing that would also be a big improvement, though maybe not strictly necessary, would be any kind of map. You may ask yourself "the world's not that big, you don't need a map", but a lot of the world uses the same sprites and thus everything looks kind of same-y, and there's few markers placed in the world. It's really just a nitpick though, but something that could be thought about if a remake were to be considered... Regardless, i liked it, and can be played through in one evening. I took just under 3 hours on normal difficulty.
