Good game, but the original from Etranges Libellules from 2006 is better than this. It felt like a downgraded version of the original rather than a "remake", from menus not having the same character as the original and feeling in some way less, to the game missing some mechanics and effects I personally loved in the original, like for example the magic potion visual effects those explosions when you take the potion are way more "comic-ey" which I didn't like, or the absence of a multiplier system where you could collect x3 or x10 multipliers for roman helmets in the original, here you could have only a x3 multiplier with the gift system (down on the left where it shows a gift when you hit the roman with the gift on his head), or even the life indicators are hearts instead of shields... Overall the game features a much more "Comic" like style closer to the comics which personally I don't like. To close my review I will say that it feels sloppy made, because it felt less than the original, heck even the cutscenes weren't remade where they put some low quality videos of the cutscenes from the original that somehow feel worse than on the original game. Recommend it to the fans of the original XXL 2 game that want to relive a game from their childhood (perhaps?) with steam achievements, and a different but not better than the original look.

pro: - game doesn't overstay its welcome and felt just about right with its pacing, only the end could have been a bit longer - only fun achievements and not too many collectibles - simple but fun - good enemy variety, although some are pretty similar - nostalgia - soundtrack has some bangers - no bugs con: - horrible performance, I have an RTX 3070 and the game couldn't reach 60 fps until I manually patched it myself, following a guide from a forum post on Steam. Only after that the performance was alright and the game was playable. - some mechanics are explained poorly or 2 hours too late - combat gets repetitive pretty quickly because the only new combat moves you unlock are special abilities which you can't use in every fight. So basically your moveset stays the exact same from beginning to end, the only real change are some new enemy types that require new strategies on how to use said skills. - camera is your worst enemy - colors are less vibrant and more flat than in the original - effects look worse than original conclusion: I would only recommend getting the game for nostalgia, Asterix & Obelix fans or achievement hunters.

Its more or less the same as the first one, which was decent enough fun. However, I liked the XXL romastered more but XXL 2 is still a good game. BUT framerate was limited to 30fps by default? I had to do a fix that I have find on the internet to make it run with 60fps. Not a fan of a soundtrack after a while it started to get on my nervs!!! I have played with a xbox controller and I had no issue with controls whatsoever. On a sale it is a decent pick for the price.

Das Remaster samt den neuen Herausforderungen ist eher mau - das Spiel an sich weckt aber geliebte Kindheitserinnerungen. <3

This game very well catches the comic in its mechanics of fighting Romans and send them flying. There is a bit of progression in terms of fighting movements but not that much to keep the fights from getting repetitive very soon. And apart from this you mainly look for the next button to open the next door. That said the game enterains well in small doses and the different levels as well as the many pop culture references made it worthwhile for me to finish the game.
