The fun of Atelier Resleriana without the 500 hours and $150 I've spent on a gacha game for the servers to shutdown and take my 5 Resnas and pet cat from me

Very early impressions are extremely positive, this seems like a great Atelier game just like Atelier Sophie 2 (from the same game director, I believe). Almost all of my grievences with Ryza and Yumia are absent here. This early into the game it's impossible to say whether the combat and synthesis will be as good as Atelier Sophie 2, it will take a while for the game to open up enough for me to have an opinion on that. But even if it never gets to quite that level, it's still likely to be very good and better than Ryza/Yumia from what little I've seem so far. Surprisingly for a Koei Tecmo published title, this port seems good and the performance is great. It actually runs better than all the previous Atelier games from the past many years, for me at least. Extremely small nitpick: I don't like the little "perfect block" QTE mechanic in combat that became popular recently (and was also present in many previous Gust games). It's not a big deal because you can likely completely ignore this mechanic anyway, though. And to finish this off with my yearly rant about why the hell does Gust lock Charismatic/Legendary/Deathwish difficulties behind a cleardata: why the hell does Gust lock Charismatic/Legendary/Deathwish difficulties behind a cleardata? Just let us pick the difficulty from the start without having to jump through hoops, please. First update: as the combat and alchemy system starts to open up a bit more, I'm happy to say that it's all holding up well. I'm not a huge fan of the whole "wanderers from other worlds" thing, as I'm usually not a big fan of cross-overs anyway, but the characters are all still enjoyable. Charismatic difficulty can be unlocked with cheatengine, and it provides a decent balance. Why do we keep having to use cheatengine to unlock it is a question I'll never get an answer to, unfortunately. Update 2: One worry about the synthesis is that the "Item Enhancement" system might trivialize alchemy a bit, as it offers an extremely easy way to add traits to items bypassing most of the process. I'm not sure about the full extent of which traits are avaliable on it, though - I hope the best traits can't be added in this way. At least the synth bonuses from items still care about specific colors, so the process of creating is still important either way. Update 3: I think this is among the best games in the series, though not as good as Sophie 2. I do miss some quality-of-life in the filtering and searching options for material when crafting, though.

Absolutely stellar. This game feels like a love letter to Atelier fans. It is a return to the Atelier series' traditional form while having a chock-full of QoL features. I haven't finished the game yet, but I can already tell I'm going to love Rias and the rest of the cast. If Sophie 2 didn't exist, this game would've definitely taken the top spot for the best JRPGs I've ever played. The RPG mechanics in this game span from synthesis to town management and bond quests. There's a lot to do in this game other than just synthesis, combat and gathering, unlike a typical Atelier game. I feel like the combat is extremely well-designed as well. It doesn't feel too broken like in Yumia but it also doesn't feel like it's too restrictive. Remember to utilise a lot of other RPG mechanics in this game like the town management system. It will help you greatly in making the game slightly easier for you despite playing on the hardest difficulty. You'll just have to know how to use them to your advantage. I do have some minor complaints though. First is the sorting system in our Inventory. In the previous games, you can first sort items by quality and then quantity for example, keeping both sorting parameters intact while making sure that quantity takes precedence. It's hard to explain to non-Atelier players but I can tell you that this feature is missing in this game, or maybe I'm not aware of its presence. It's a small thing but it makes Inventory management a lot more difficult for me. Another complaint I have is that when selecting what materials you want to consume for Town Management, you cannot press and hold your d-pad to select items quickly, which is strange because you can do so when selling items at merchants. Still, not a huge deal, just a little bit tedious for me personally. All in all, an amazing game. As per usual, I'm going to 100% this game just like any other Atelier game I've played. I hope that Gust keeps going down this path. I know that Yumia is them trying to "test the waters". I like Yumia but I hope they can find a proper balance between modern and traditional Atelier games. There are things that I kind of wish this game copied from Yumia, like the Save Synthesis system, because I seem to use them a lot during the beginning of my playthrough.

This looks like an amazing Atelier game. - Turn battle system is back. - Instanced maps instead of open world. - Cauldron Alchemy System that looks way better than Yumia so far. Also, Rias is a smug cat girl, she is great.
