Very early impressions are extremely positive, this seems like a great Atelier game just like Atelier Sophie 2 (from the same game director, I believe). Almost all of my grievences with Ryza and Yumia are absent here. This early into the game it's impossible to say whether the combat and synthesis will be as good as Atelier Sophie 2, it will take a while for the game to open up enough for me to have an opinion on that. But even if it never gets to quite that level, it's still likely to be very good and better than Ryza/Yumia from what little I've seem so far. Surprisingly for a Koei Tecmo published title, this port seems good and the performance is great. It actually runs better than all the previous Atelier games from the past many years, for me at least. Extremely small nitpick: I don't like the little "perfect block" QTE mechanic in combat that became popular recently (and was also present in many previous Gust games). It's not a big deal because you can likely completely ignore this mechanic anyway, though. And to finish this off with my yearly rant about why the hell does Gust lock Charismatic/Legendary/Deathwish difficulties behind a cleardata: why the hell does Gust lock Charismatic/Legendary/Deathwish difficulties behind a cleardata? Just let us pick the difficulty from the start without having to jump through hoops, please. First update: as the combat and alchemy system starts to open up a bit more, I'm happy to say that it's all holding up well. I'm not a huge fan of the whole "wanderers from other worlds" thing, as I'm usually not a big fan of cross-overs anyway, but the characters are all still enjoyable. Charismatic difficulty can be unlocked with cheatengine, and it provides a decent balance. Why do we keep having to use cheatengine to unlock it is a question I'll never get an answer to, unfortunately. Update 2: One worry about the synthesis is that the "Item Enhancement" system might trivialize alchemy a bit, as it offers an extremely easy way to add traits to items bypassing most of the process. I'm not sure about the full extent of which traits are avaliable on it, though - I hope the best traits can't be added in this way. At least the synth bonuses from items still care about specific colors, so the process of creating is still important either way.

Atelier Yumia should never have been released. This is the real 2025 Atelier Only if Yumia's budget & marketing went into this game...

So, I am giving this game a positive with a HUGE disclaimer. There are a lot of positive so far. The characters are absolutely adorable, the story is very interesting, and combat - while way too easy even on hard so far - is about the same as it was in Sophie 2 (Very good) with the addition of random field affects as a minor layer to consider in combat. As a minor quip, I do wish there was more impact behind actions in combat, as the visual effects and combat impact sounds seem to be a bit too soft and unsatisfying compared to - again - Sophie 2. HOWEVER, there is a what I would consider to be a major oversight in the shop mechanics completely trivializing the entire shop mechanic and money in general. This will be something that very well ruin a person's experience of what seems to be a really good game so far without experiencing it for themselves, so be warned before you continue!!! The Duplicator. A little ways into the story, you unlock the ability to duplicate anything (quite a bit earlier than in other entries - before you really get into doing your own Alchemy outside of the tutorial). The trouble with this mechanic compared to the shop mechanics is - when you sell something in the shop, you are able to sell multiples with only one entry of an item. This means that for one bunny tail, you can sell 3-5 copies of that item every time you run the shop before you have to restock it. Now the trouble with this is the selling price for said items are only a little less that what it takes to duplicate the item. so, if your following along at this point, you might be realizing that - YES - you can copy an item and then sell that one copy multiple times in a single shop opening netting you on average 3-4 TIMES what you spent to duplicate the item. Obviously this completely ruins the economy and makes money literally inconsequential from the first hour or two of game play. You WILL ruin the game experience using this obvious loophole that i can only imagine must be an oversight. If you have the restraint to play the game will self limitations, I recommend limiting yourself to only duplicating items that you are intending to equip to multiple party members. If you don't see yourself having that kind of restraint - I recommend not buying the game until (if) a balance patch is implemented. If I was able to give a suggestion to the devs for re-balancing this, I honestly would just say either quadruple the item/equipment replication costs, or make it so much fewer copies (if any) of an item can be sold in the shop along with cheaper operating costs. Obviously the later would involve a lot of re-balancing the mechanics, but I think that would be the proper way to truly save the shop mechanic at this point.

This looks like an amazing Atelier game. - Turn battle system is back. - Instanced maps instead of open world. - Cauldron Alchemy System that looks way better than Yumia so far. Also, Rias is a smug cat girl, she is great.
