I'm genuinely surprised by how committed this story to its premise and theme beyond just the surface level, and seeing people sharing their real life experience of being disciplined without being understood while growing up really made me quite emotional. Even the story is sensational, it still tackles the fundamental issues of abuse, discipline, and what's the goal of education/demanding correct behavior. In the end, I felt a lot of love for all the characters, and the actors really gave it their all for their roles. The writing can get a little cheesy at times, but the story nevertheless feels sincere and genuine. The only con here is that... This gets better in late game, but there's a lot of investigative elements in this game where the protagonist need to problem solve, but as the player I don't actually get to do any of the problem solving. Instead I click through the clues and let the protagonist come up with a conclusion on his own. These segments are too easy to be interesting so they only disrupt the story-flow experience. In any case, please don't expect any exciting gameplay, you are mostly watching an interactive show.

I bought this game out of curiosity. Modern, chinese FMV game? Interesting! Having played a few FMV games from the 90s I didn't really expect much, but its actually really high quality product. As a film, its really well directed, camera work, cinematography and editing are all there to make the scenes exciting, even though huge part of the game is just people talking its never boring. Actors are doing a great job, lots of very entertaining performances especially by the main villain of the game, I dont speak a single word of chinese and I was really engaged. I have no complaints about the story, there is drama, there's fun, there's even some action here and there, all good. This could easily be a TV series, I've seen way worse on Netflix. As a game, story is quite interactive, a lot of choices and branching paths, a few endings. Puzzles are really easy but are fun enough for the most part. Real challenge of the game comes from selecting dialogue choices. English translation is not great, I found it difficult to understand what dialagoue options game presents to me actually mean, especially early on, which led to a few confusing game over screens. Plot overall is easy enough to follow and you can just go back to previous scene so its not that big of an issue. I know its partially due to chinese language not naturally translating well to english but I feel there is some room for improvement on that front. One more thing thats not exactly clear, base game is only first half ot the story, you have to buy the DLC to finish it so multiply cost of the game by 2x. Game with expansion took me over 6 hours so its up to you if thats worth the full price, I would personally recommend to get it on sale.

Holy cow~ This game has a lot of content. I have played so far 3 hours on it. It is spoken in Mandarin Chinese with subtitles. I recommend you actually be able to understand Chinese in order to play this because the English translations aren't exact. It's a very interesting concept. There is also integration with video game controls, so you can actually influence the main character's actions by doing things like swiping to fight. There are a ton of decision points. The story line is interesting and for those who are familiar with Asian culture, this is spot on. I found this SUPER absorbing. If you like Chinese Dramas and can relate to the intensity of Asian parenting, this will resonate with you. I got betrayed a couple of times in this game. It made me have strong "feels" for the character. I really hope I am able to make it to a positive ending. For the price, I definitely think you will get your money's worth. I'm only starting chapter 4/10 and I've already played this for 3 hours. Extrapolating, if I still got more then this thing has 7.5 hours of total playtime. :O Note: There are also two things about this game worth noting. I have found one scene where a translation error (e.g. hint computer date) is wrong due to translation error. You can google to find the right answer though and get unstuck. Two, I found out from reading the review this is actually a two-part game. The first part according to my calculations is 7.5 hours total playtime. The full length of this may be much longer. The more I play this the more mixed feelings I have about it. I don't like how I have to betray some of the students to get through the game. It actually makes me mad because I want to fight for justice. LOL
