The first one had better jokes, this one steers too much towards Borderland type humor where things are narrated 'at you'. That said, the mechanic is still fun. I did not realise the game was not finished yet. For now I'd recommend it but it will probably take time before it's finished, like it did with the first one.
The people saying that there's only 5 hours of content in the game clearly just speedran through it. I'm almost at the 5 hour mark and I've barely started to venture beyond the starting area. So far the game has a pretty solid foundation. I dropped the first one fairly quickly because of the oxygen mechanic (you start with a lot more oxygen this time around, thank god), but it seems like they've built quite a bit on what the first game had. The initial area looks to be quite big, and if future content updates add similiarly sized areas, this is going to be a massive game. The way they're doing gear is also quite interesting, to the point where I would love to see similar systems in future survival crafters. The humour does fall very flat for me. It's very "quirky character says random thing," and "isn't this a weird situation." I've just put on something to watch while playing to drown out the somewhat cringe humour. The side quests also feel a little like padding. They're just kind of distractions that don't really add anything. You don't unlock any optional gear or areas, and some of them actually just seem to be resource sinks. The collectibles are also seemingly designed to just take up inventory space. But besides that, a solid start and I look forward to seeing what's to come.
A solid spiritual successor to the original. While the Early Access build doesn't differ much from the demo, the bug fixes and polish are immediately noticeable. New tools are a blast—the grabber hand alone makes scavenging so much smoother and cuts down the grind. The only major drawback is the voice acting. To put it mildly, it leaves a lot to be desired, especially for Babe—the delivery feels completely flat and unnatural, hurting the immersion and comedic timing. Overall, the core gameplay is great, and the potential is huge. Definitely worth picking up.
